I see no room in the video game industry for remakes, this isn't the film industry. Re-Release is one thing but remaking the entire game is a completely different thing.
The video game industry moves more and more towards the Hollywood studio system for each year, where it's all about making giant "blockbusters".
In the early 1900s we had lots and lots of small film studios and ~20 years later they were all merged, bought or whatever and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_system#Sound_and_the_Big_Five remained.
In the 1980s we had lots and lots of small video game development studio and publishers, and over the years they been bought, merged or whatever, and now it's ruled by the giants left like EA, Activision, Square-Enix and Ubisoft.
I agree though, there is pretty much just one remake I want to see. With the rest ports are sufficient as far as I'm concerned.
