Video game remakes.

Homeworld

Not sure if want... A remake would lose the 3d movement for sure.

I see no room in the video game industry for remakes, this isn't the film industry. Re-Release is one thing but remaking the entire game is a completely different thing.

The video game industry moves more and more towards the Hollywood studio system for each year, where it's all about making giant "blockbusters".

In the early 1900s we had lots and lots of small film studios and ~20 years later they were all merged, bought or whatever and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_system#Sound_and_the_Big_Five remained.

In the 1980s we had lots and lots of small video game development studio and publishers, and over the years they been bought, merged or whatever, and now it's ruled by the giants left like EA, Activision, Square-Enix and Ubisoft.

I agree though, there is pretty much just one remake I want to see. With the rest ports are sufficient as far as I'm concerned.

System shock 1
System shock 2
Deus ex 1
Deus ex 2 (with huge amount of changes)
Final fantasy 6
Castlevania SOTN
Duke nukem 3D
Martian Gothic
Streets of rage 1 & 3 (2 svcks)
blade 1
Tomb raider 2

I would remake these games and do it right!

Most of those games were done right the first time.

Yeah, it would be good, but all Relic does now is Warhammer 40k :lmao:

Oh well, there's always Sins of a Solar Empire. Not quite the same, but close enough ^_^

Truthfully I want to see EA give up the rights to Dungeon Keeper giving them to atleast Blizzard so something can be done with it. Really love the dark attitude of the first game with the second one being a little wackier than I would have liked, but it was alright. Sadly it just seemed to go down hill from there and the 3rd game never got released.

Want to see a good ol revamp taking it into that dark realm again where you get to summon up demons, giant bugs, dragons, etc... to do your bidding. Though in this age of oversensitivity with religious/political stuff I doubt the game would be well received. Heck even in Manga that are imported from Japan they are removing items of religious implications even if it is in the slightest in fear of retribution.

This is one of those suggestions that keeps being repeated, and for good reason: it would be awesome.

Also, Dragon Age II should be remade. Fire the ass who made the gameplay and take someone from Bethesda. Otherwise, keep it same for all I care.

Just the gameplay? The entire thing would have to be redone. It wouldn't even be a remake at that point. It would be a reimagining.

Agreed, and this is from someone that still plays Dungeon Keeper 2 'till this day.

I don't want anymore remakes, remakes just reek of laziness and trying to get a quick buck, and they are never as good as the original, and most people just want remakes because they want "teh bestest grahix", it just breaks my gamer heart to see people care about graphics so much they want to screw up older games. Just make a new game or a sequel or something.

Death to all remakes I say.

I'm quite intrigued with the new SSX. I know it's not a proper remake, but it does look cool.

SSX?

EA Snowboarding series. You've never heard of it? It used to be huge and then it svcked. It looks like EA has really gone all out. They're also making anew Fifa street which should be cool.

I really would love to see a revisit of the old games all redone and put back on a hardware-revamped version of the old consoles. I think it would be interesting and would give developers a chance to fix all of the bugs in the older games and re-balance them to their liking. It would definitely create one of the largest waves of nostalgia this world has ever seen. If they remastered super mario, but kept everything that made it fun and put it on the (super) SNES, I would just die of nostalgia and go out and buy it again.

The gameplay? The combat was the one fun thing about that game (the mechanics of it anyway, not the random parachuting enemies every few feet). Fire the person who did the writing and map design more like.

I remember playing that. Lots of fun. I'll think about getting this. I just realised I can't. Well, if one of my friends gets it, I'll get to enjoy it.

I am excited for it too. But rebooting a franchise this popular must be...

*puts on sunglasses*

tricky.

Nice!

I'm not a big fan of the races on SSX. I just like cruising the mountains and doing big tricks. The level of detail on the mountains looks amazing though!
