Anyone remember and/or use the mod: Castle Seaview in Oblivion? cool as heck castle set on a cliff overlooking the ocean which had its own blacksmith and smith/vendor and had a bunch of cool underground rooms like the hidden treasury etc... I miss it.

seeing that bandits can take it over, i think we should be able to take it over, rebuild it and keep it.

Castle? Hell, I'd take a freakin bedroll with a barrel next to it if it would allow me to live wherever I wanted to in this game. So annoying that I can brush dragons aside without breaking a sweat but I can't secure basic shelter in a town like Falkreath if I happen to like it there.

First thing i'm doing as soon as the CK is out is building my self a nice manor somewhere out in those mountains.

I did it in Morrowind and Oblivion and can't wait to get a "proper" house in Skyrim.

Nope, no castles are ever gonna be available. Mark my words. There will be no new player owned houses or bases.
There will be a castle dlc. Mark my words.

I hear you there, I like to make the only entrance to my homes under water (house etc near water).

After running through Blackreach today for 2 hours, admiring the beauty of it, I decided that I want to rebuild the lost Dwemer city and have the castle/debate hall (place with the big orange globe) as my own personal (perhaps even under-underground) castle. The waterfalls, the plants, the EVERYTHING about Blackreach completely enthralls me. I go there to explore even when I already went through it. I believe it is truly the crowning jewel of Skyrim's dungeons.

@Dayrn:

I am pretty sure (haven't tried time-out for cells) that you can live in the small house in black reach which had the alchemy/enchanting table.

I really plan to make that a modded home just do to its cozyness.

Taking some inspiration from the GBA Sims games, maybe a magic lamp that when activated teleports you into a pocket dimension with a home in it? Of course it doesn't have to be that, it could be a magic portal spell, or something.

I'd like a home with access to a library large enough to hold -every book in the game- since I collect them, and eventually read them!

There needs to be lots and lots of chests, and storage arranged for convenience.

An alchemy bag next to the potion maker, an ore/ingot box near a smelter which is near the rest of the black smithing stuff with another chest.

like... 5 storage bins in the bedroom.

I horde stuff demmit. The safe in Solitude has so much stuff in it, the inventory lags. :P

There needs to be tons of racks, too!

And maybe servants wandering around? Maybe spectral/incoporeal/otherwise ghostly so they don't block doorways?

Just some brainstormign ideas.

Expanding on the idea of a castle; what about having the chance to defend your property from coming under attack?

If there is a castle, it will be part of the large DLC. There are no more small DLCs from Bethesda after the whole horse armor thing.

thats fantastic, you could have the remnants of whatever side you defeated in the civil war attack you sometimes. that would make hiring guards and soldiers for rhe castle alot more fun. especially if you could equip them yourself.

I'd love a castle. I was kind of hoping that I'd be made Jarl of somewhere once I'd finished the Civil War questline... I was a little disappointed to say the least.

Yes!

I only want a castle if I can populate it. It would be cool if you could hire all the companions to be guards lol.

I also want lots of servants who call me Lord :)

i have no doubt that they'll release some sort of castle DLC, i just hope its got alot of the features we've all been mentioning. i don't play mages or thieves generally but if they put in some sort of "build the castle as you go" with different options based on different quests they could tailor it to different classes.

Yes! something away from all the Holds and guards that patrol... would be awesome for one such as my character who rampages through the guards of each hold, walks into a shop and buys alchemical ingredients from the scared little shop lady... then retreat to my atronach guarded sanctuary.

Yes please to castles, so very much.

I want things to spend my characters money on and a castle or fortress or country estate just seems so logical (bonus points if it costs money and has quests involved, millions of bonus points if it has that and you can expand it/develop it/hire staff for it etc.)

Other things I would like in this vain would be to build/rebuild a town (there just so happens to be one in the game in need of TLC).

A boat.

Better horses, horse armors.

A farm.

More factions like... wait, different topic. I'll concentrate on the castle.

I've always wanted a hall with Light Armours down one side, and Heavy Armours down the other. I'd have a room with enough bookshelves for every book in the game too, I like collecting them. I'd create a private library. A forge would be great too.

Damnit! Now I really want a castle. I wish I could afford a good PC, damn rent.

I too want a castle. And I like the sound of that hall. I think it really should be easier to decorate you homes, to move shelves and bookcases around, to purchase enough manikans.

And yes, book shelves. I can't get enough of them in the game because I can't get enough books. I love reading them, collecting them... but alas I have to many for all my shelves unless I want to split them across homes.

Expanding on the idea of a castle; what about having the chance to defend your property from coming under attack?

Good idea. Perhaps after you are away from it for a certain amount of time a runner catches you, gives you a letter informing you of an imminent attack from a bandit horde or or maybe members of the side you didn't join or something. You rush back to prepare the defenses.

Or you don't or if you don't make it in time or have to retreat than at some point you get to go and retake your castle

That is a great idea. Hire the mages to expand the castle in this way, or hire the thieves to expand on it that way (or the Legion), each would give it a different look/feel - yes, I love that idea.

Maybe I'm getting to greedy here but one of my characters is a vampire. It would be nice if that transformation unlocked some house/castle upgrade.

God I hope your're right. I hope they read these threads. They'd definately make money off of me.

Same here.
