I want a castle

I think someone else mentioned this, but I think it would fit a dlc thing better if instead of single home we got a small fort or something. As time went on and you completed quests or spent money on the fort it could slowly grow into a small town. With farmers, smiths, and etc... Kinda like a medieval fiefdom.

i like that idea alot, a bunch of quests to build it. then some for staffing and garrison. some for defense. then over time depending on how you chose to do those, the town could attract different typed of people and grow

In Neverwinter they let a character have their own castle. Something similar here would be nice. Perhaps when becoming Thane you get some additional quests that would allow you to earn a plot of land. Land with a ruin on it and obviously in a state of disrepair since no one has lived there in quite a while. Quests and ways to rebuild the ruins into your own lair or castle with perhaps servants, fighting force...or even go so far as to create your own little village around the building.

Well you are really not the only one OP, I made a post a few days ago that I wanted that castle. With a mass of weapon racks/display cases/mannequin in it. And a forge. And that tanning rack to skin. And a secret entrance to the nearest hold lol. We get so many pretty armors along the way and max count of mannequins in one home is 3. I want to store all of my armors and weapons I find along the way in one big massive home.

I bought this game expecting to have a nice foreboding warlock tower, like in Fable 2, stocked with potions, poisons and all things heretical. To my disappointment there was no such thing. I like the Winterhold college but I only own the archmage's quarters, and I just want a lonely tower, where heroes go to try to kill me because of my bounty, like in Fable 2.

the way i think they should implement this is by makes the quests class specific(kind of). different outcomes of the quests would lead to different construction options, and then different garrison and staff options.

Nope, no castles are ever gonna be available. Mark my words. There will be no new player owned houses or bases.
Why not? They did it on oblivion and it went well... Money wise I mean.

i have a great gaming PC, but (and this is just MY opinion) but i can't stand clicking a button to fight. i like pulling a trigger to shoot/ swing. i'll play RTS and the like on the computer. and yes i know i could hook up a controller and i probably should. also my computer is in my "man-cave" and my wife would kill me if i spent all my time in there LOL.
Use a PC controller, that's what i do.

Horse armor is one thing, but a castle, yea i'd pay for one. Five bucks tops though. Assuming its just the castle and no other content.

I hope they give us a little something like that in one of the expantions.

I could see it possible that you are given a fort, castle or something similar as the result of a side-quest-chain in one of the DLC.

As well as the existing forts, ruined towns, etc. I feel I should point out that there are two other existing locations that could lead to possible homes -

Spoiler
Depending on your actions, High Hrothgar or Sky Haven Temple

It would be great to be able to upgrade either of them with full facilities (including Smelter and merchants) after completion of the main quest.

I do like the idea of a castle/fort, though. So long as it is a "one-stop-shop" with everything. It's annoying having to fast-travel to three, or more, locations just to do my enchanting, smithing, smelting and trading. Especially trading. It's unnecessary busy-work to have to travel to several cities just to sell three or four items because each is worth the max gold of the merchants (I shouldn't be forced to invest Perks in an entire constellation just so I can sell the loot from a single dragon in one place).

What would be even better than a "simple" housing DLC with a castle/fort/town would be a new faction for you to lead. The difference is that you build it from scratch in your new home. You hire NPCs (some of whom are Followers) who then give you quests to upgrade your home and then, once it's fully upgraded, give you Radiant Quests which could include defending your home as well as acquiring new decorations (like the loot on display in the Flagon).
