Wasteland 2 forthcoming?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:09 pm

Yeah it will most probably reach around $2m. The initial required sum was $1m, but I believe Fargo reduced it to $900,000 so if only $900K is reached, he'll fork out the left himself. He won't need to though I'm sure.

That would be incredible if it hit $2m. He says after $1.5m "the sky is the limit."

"But we’re looking ahead to what we can do if you all back this project in force. At $1.25 million, the money will go primarily into making the world bigger, adding more maps, more divergent stories and even more music.

At $1.5 million, the world gets even bigger. You’ll have more adventures to play, more challenges to deal with, and a greater level of complexity to the entire storyline. We’ll add more environments, story elements, and characters to make the rich world come alive even more. We will even be able to bring Wasteland 2 to OS X for Mac lovers. And after $1.5 million the sky is the limit."

EDIT: From Fargo's Twitter page: "#Linux users. We've heard your requests, and will include a Linux version (in addition to more content) at $1.5 million in pledges."

EDIT 2: $810k - Should reach it's goal by no latter than morning I'm guessing. Tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

Pretty exciting how reaching certain milestones will result in the game getting larger. :)

Now the waiting begins. I'm hoping it hits $1.5m. I can't wait for Brian's new video too.

I bet it will be at a solid million a few minutes after I post this.

Best news in gaming this decade. Brilliant.

Cleared the million mark, which is great.

As someone said above, my guess would be about two million by the time it ends.

If I had $2500 I'd buy one of the Blood Sausage packs but I don't have it and probably never will have a spare $2500 just lying around. I am however thinking of upgrading my $100 to either $150 or $250 if I can convince the wife to let me.

You can pledge and your card won't be charged until the 17th when the drive is over. That'll give you plenty of time to come up with the extra funds. Just don't pledge more than you know you can handle.

I'm so excited. I feel like I'm part of something. :P

I'll be keeping an eye on it and hope it gets up to at least 1.5 mil. I'm sure it will.

Its just a pretty great thing. This kickstarter stuff has allowed devs to go back to making older games, sites like RPG codex and NMA have clung to those for a long time. It would be nice and fitting if they had their site immortalised in a new game, showing the genre isnt dead.

I wonder what the graphics will be like. Im guessing fallout 2 at best... Cant really see what you can do with an isometric game.
Allthough that would make making the game pretty cheap, devs waste too much money on graphics, not enough on gameplay.

Even if we only had slightly revised F2 graphics, when you think about it our comps can handle Crysis 2, so we could have 150000000x the number of quests that these older RPGs had!

So if I donated $10,000 I get a few copies of the game, I would appear as a shrine, a few items and a dinner date? Forget that. I will carry on investing my money where I get a financial return.

"a few copies"? You get 50 copies! That's like a 1/4 worth of the money you donate! I don't even know 50 people to give the copies to if I'd donate $10,000.

I've also been wondering myself. The last time I played it I was 14 on a Commodore 64. I did a Google search but it turned up a bunch of dead links. It's going to be tough since EA still owns the rights to it. And they are a bunch of knob gobbling [censored]ers and they probably won't just release it.
