I didn't find the concept art that impressive. Kind of struck me as 'generic shooter cover art'. I was kind of hoping the first piece of art to be some sort of location artwork.

I think you need to stop worrying about this game. Fallout 4 in all it's raging horrible glory is just around the corner.

Once again, I have to say, the attention this game gets here is "astounding". :sadvaultboy: No real friends of oldschool RPG's here, aside from the few really cool people (who pledged, or otherwise supported the project) in this thread.

Have you forgotten whose forum this is? Bethesda. One of the greatest jokes in the oldschool RPG communities. What did you expect? I've pledged my hundred and gave even more to those other unmentionable communities for their funding drives as well.

we don't know a single thing about Wasteland 2's concept, what it has in store, etc. granted these things come in time, but you get the idea.

Well, we kind of do. That's just it. For those of us familiar with Wasteland, Brian Fargo, Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Black Isle Studios, MCA and all the rest--we've got a pretty good inherent idea of what we're getting. And because of the past, this project has garnered more than just the benefit of the doubt. That said, it's not hard to see why people such as yourself can't into Wasteland 2.

I'm very excited about this game, the people behind it are responsible for most of my all-time favorites. Unfortunately, I just got back from 3 weeks vacation in S. America, so I'm pretty strapped for cash. I'm hoping I can scrounge up $250 before the deadline, but I'll definitely pledge at least $50.

Because I don't always make coherency until about somewhere midway into my involvement in things. :spotted owl:
At least you have coherency.

I wish I had 10k to donate. I wouldn't mind trolling people with a statue in the game.

Not really, no. I have no memory of writing the piece you quoted. Came home from a barbeque party pretty drunk that night, and apparently, at some point, felt the need to lament that sort of thing (along with posting other seemingly nonsensical things). :lmao:

Better check your pledge. Might have added a few zeros by drunken mistake. :P

For Wasteland 2, the PC is the root of the product. The Fallout series, at least for now, is focused more at a console group, and for me, there's a major difference. There's a lot of people that loved Fallout 1 and 2, and Fallout 3 just isn't what they want. To me, Wasteland 2 is for those people," he said.

Instead, players wanted InXile to include more text, giving the game a more robust, branching narrative. Adding voice-overs would only limit the game's scope, as dialogue trees would be bound by the game's audio budget. "It was an interesting thing to hear from [the fans], and I'm glad I heard that," Fargo said.

He was quick to note, however, that InXile can't put complete faith in this fan feedback. Fargo said that while the backers have effectively taken the place of a traditional publisher, InXile isn't willing to give up any creative control.

"When I get feedback from the users, I know a good idea when I hear it, and I know a consensus when I hear it. I'll make that decision myself. Now, if I'm working with a publisher, they can tell me what to do, I can disagree, and they'll say, 'we don't care.' There's a huge difference," he said.
That's also good to hear.

I'll say it again. Brian Fargo is the [censored] man!

I can't wait till this game gets rolling and they start releasing more and more pictures, artwork, screenies and gameplay images and video.

It's really a unique situation we're in. An old school RPG by experienced developers with a decent budget, no publisher to mess things up, and open to fan feedback (but not too much).

Brian Fargo + Chris Avellone - Publisher = Awesome.

Will they use at least some audio dialogue for one-liners? I don't dislike reading, I dislike a sound-less city. :o

I'd settle (and actually like) for one liner voiced dialogue. Like Fallout 1/2 basically.

Hopefully they do greeting dialogue. Helps give me an idea of what these people were meant to sound like. Adds a little to the game, but does'nt interfere with the conversation branching idea they're working with.

Was just about to post about that one too. Hopefully Mark approves.

That would be awesome. I'm really interested in the music, it does a lot to the atmosphere of the game.

Broke $2.3m a little while ago. A little less than $700k to make $3m with 5 days left? It's doable but I see $2.5 to be more likely.
