I have always wondered if the Codex guys would play 90's and 80's games forever. I mean... Those games would be a ancient games by 2050. (Not to say that half of the Codex users would be very old by 2050 as well)
At least now they will have a new game.

If Bethesda joins the project then I might consider paying some money.

They could make the world design and let the owner do the writing and the programming...

This isn't a Bethesda 1st/3rd person open world RPG.

Most of the Wasteland team are pretty famous, but lesser-known souls are also returning for the sequel, such as Elizabeth Danforth. http://www.lizdanforth.com/2012/03/21/exciting-times/. She seems cool.

She does seem pretty cool, and she sounds like a writer who will present us with some difficult, morally gray choices in the game, which makes me even more excited for Wasteland 2. It also makes me wish that I could have played the first Wasteland, which, by the way, has anyone found a good place to download it from?

Also, for anyone interested, the Wasteland 2 forums are http://n/a. Never mind, it has content that's not suitable to be linked to. :)

I think TheTallest said he found it on Abandonia?

Including PayPal donations, the Kickstarter's just short of $1.9 m now, with another 15 days to go. They can easily make $2.5 m by the end, and I wouldn't be surprised if they got $3 m.

:ahhh: They got to this thread, too!

On topic:

http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r567/ooofbaer/ks.jpg? And do I have to use my legal name? I don't want it out there.

I finally have a credit card to use for these purposes. All I need to do is sign up now, and Wasteland 2 will get $265 of my money.

Oh, also: http://forums.obsidian.net/blog/1/entry-160-kickstarter-and-wasteland-2-thoughts/.

Somebody pulled a $5000 pledge :( Even so, the project's made almost $20 000 today. It's well on track. :)

I'll be using someone else's card... :stare: Sigh. This Kickstarter thing is not very well set up, is it? Thanks.

It's rather simple actually. Make an account, enter credit card info, and bam you pledged.

Well, yeah, but now I have to sign up with someone else's name... Guess what, Kickstarter? Not the whole word has the same regulations and practices as America... :swear: It's frustrating, is all. I want to give money, but they make it so difficult.

Anyway, Gamebanshee interviewed Chris Avellone about his and Obsidian's collaboration with Brian Fargo and InXile. Go http://www.gamebanshee.com/interviews/107528-wasteland-2-interview.html.

Oof, just use your normal email address. They'll email you and ask for your details so they can send you your game and what-not.

I should have read the "Help" section.

... today I received word of unexpected study expenses... my pledge drops to $100... so long as I get the game... and my name in the credits. :teehee:

P.S.

it's your actual name so they can verify it with your cc info.

It doesn't have to be your own name -- when you're transferred to Amazon Payments they ask for the cardholder's name.

Paypal is another option if the name thing is really too much of an issue.

It's fine, I've sorted the issue. Thanks. PayPal is even more of a hassle.

The project has officially hit $1.91!

And other 10 million new pledges?

Apart from that being a very doubtful claim, that would accomplish nothing because Beth can already make any game they please, and in fact they do.

This Kickstarter Wasteland project was set up because the fans and the creators of the game wanted it, but they never had the funds. Now they do. Simple.

There's a nice retrospective of the original Wasteland on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbmZPF7SlMA.

Great guy, he deserves more views. He also has a three part interview with Brian Fargo on his channel, from about a year ago.
