Watch Dogs - New Ubisoft Game

Post » Sat May 11, 2013 5:11 am

This. At the end of the day it just seems like a really pretty GTA clone with some cell phone gimmick. I'm tired of seeing everyone think games are amazing based solely on merit of how shiny they are.

That's not why everyone's hyped. I'm interested and excited about the concept and possibilities. The term "information age" has never been more true now, and if we're able to utilize that in the game to achieve our goals, there's going to be a lot of freedom and a lot of cool missions. I think people are getting their hopes much too high from what we've seen, but if the game turns out as good as it could be, it'll be a very good game.

And I'm a svcker for anything open world.

I have a feeling this isn't going to live up to a lot of expectations. There was nothing in the game demo video that made me think "Cool, I have to get this game". I saw some average gunplay and pretty graphics. The cell phone looks like it's going to work in the same way that eavesdropping did in Assassin's Creed, i.e. go near people, listen, get the info you need to continue the mission. I need to see more.

A new http://www.gameinformer.com/games/watch_dogs/b/xbox360/archive/2012/06/07/unveiling-the-mystery-of-ubisoft-39-s-new-franchise.aspx on Gameinformer on Watch Dogs. The game takes some inspiration from the GTA franchise.

It's an ambitious project but it sounds too good to be true. I reckon that the amount of detail and interaction from the gameplay demo would not carry over to the game unless most of it is scripted. Also, the lack of information concerning a definite PC release is disappointing.

Edit: - Nevermind. A recent article on IGN confirms Watch dogs for the PC, 360 and PS3.

The demo was played on a PC. I hope they wouldn't take a step backward and not release it on PC.

At this point I'm not expecting anything in terms of gameplay. What got me hooked is the setting.

I do hope this game has some more mystery solving when tracking down the bad guys.

I'm not sure I see why people are raving about Watch Dog (all over the interwebz). A (somewhat) futuristic GTA with nice graphics, hacking streetlights with an i-phone, horribly boring slow-mo combat features, and of course (eventually) the trademark Ubi[censored] DRM ass[censored] (for PC).

It may well end up being a nice game, but I don't really see what - aside from the phone-hack - it offers that hasn't been offered by other games already.

Not surprising, considering how bland E3 was this year. It was easily one of the highpoints of the show.

When I was watching the trailer I was really impressed. I loved the weather changes and how all of the trees reacted and stuff, seems like one of the games that I'll be able to get lost in.

It certainly looks interesting, but the slow motion did put me off a bit. I'll have to see and hear a lot more than that before I allow myself to get excited about it.

The weather looked great. It's always cool seeing what developers can do with the hardware towards the end of its life cycle.

Again, it was running on a high-end PC. That's the only reason it's so pretty. Expect lower resolution weather textures and less intensive lighting on the consoles.

Do they intend to release the game on PC at all? I admit I skimmed through the Watch Dogs article, so I might have missed it.

Would be kind of ironic if they used a high-end PC to show off it's graphics, and then release it only for consoles.

They'll figure it out. Some of the games towards the end of the PS2 era looked just as good as 360 games at the time.

We have a Negative Nancy in our midst... It looks OK. Kind of cool looking, like a futuristic Assassins Creed thing if you ask me

The story of my life.

Just trying to understand, where all this "yay" is coming from. I saw a potentially fun game with few drawbacks amidst of a lot of utter [censored], but nothing really special.

I'm... semi-impressed. Looks nice, but if it's just bullets 'n zplosionz 'n stuff I probably won't buy it. Have to learn more about this, that video was my first peek at it(I missed most of E3 ),

You and me both. Is this really such a fantastic-looking game where I'm simply missing something, or is it just a case of being the best thing in a show that's been otherwise completely unspectacular?

Myself? I thought it looked cool.

I rather like open-world games, and this looks to have some neat toys to play with.

I'm not saying its going to change the face of gaming, but it looked like a cool game that'll be fun to play.
