Weapons, Mods and Ammo Mega-Thread #8

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 9:47 pm

Well, yes and no. The problem was with the animation system, not the animations themselves. We have addressed this in F:NV by inserting about 0.5 seconds of input buffering prior to the link frame for the next attack. If you mash the fire button in F:NV, you should get a consistent sequence of shots/attacks off.

Basically, shooting semi-auto weapons should "feel more responsive".

Thank you for answering that :)

Its not going to fire as fast as you can pull the trigger, it will just fire its maximun fire rate if your trigger speed goes above the max. I hate how you can do that in CoD, your firing like 2 bullets before the slide can even pop back and forth.

This is a big shot in the dark but, Mr. Sawyer, would you like to answer the question. "Are there are more than 3 modifications for each weapon?" We already know that you can have 3 at a time, but is that all for each gun?

hey, we'll know in 6 days!!! :D

No, I must know now, or I will cancel my preorder. I want my silenced Hunting Rifle, do you hear me? I WANT IT. :chaos: :flame: :swear: :nuke:  :gun:

Kidding.

On topic: the machine guns that the Securitrons have mounted on their arms are pretty nice, wonder if we'll get unmounted versions?

Just throwing in my last chips :). Its a question that we came up with before. A silenced hunting rifle would be a nice addition to my armory.
And we are talking about the in-game weapon modifiers, not the computer mods.

No weapon has more than three mods available for it. It's part of how we structured the data to prevent .nif combinations from getting out of control. That said, if PC modders still want to use "their way" of making weapon mods (as they did on F3), they should still be able to. The F:NV mod system just keeps it all of it within one weapon form and the associated weapon mod forms.

Well that's a shame, no silenced hunting rifle for me. Oh well, if it's necessary, I'll live. :)

Since this is a gun thread, I figured I'd ask this since I know next to nothing about guns, but in F3, and hence I presume New Vegas, when you're wearing an assault rifle or a hunting rifle across your back, how are you able to wear it without hinderence in combat? (In a realistic situation I mean)

Hmmm? If your in combat it is in your hands, is it not? Or are you talking about like a gun sling?

Yeah, I mean, it looks like it'd be slung across your chest and back (Since the angle is going ' / ' instead of a straight ' l ' on their back.)

You just moanuver (sp?) it so it goes over your head and shift your shoulders so it drops on your forearm. Well thats how I do it with my dads gun atleast.

Without hindrance in combat? If you're in combat, you've most likely got it in your hands anyway. ;)

But if you mean needing to momentarily stow it because we need to free up our hands for something else, such as digging out and tossing a grenade, I would either just lay it on the ground if I didn't expect to move anytime soon, or sling it across one shoulder if I was going to move (such as clearing a room) if we're talking about a standard sling. They've recently built and issued special http://www.mfiap.com/smallarms/3-sling.shtml for especially this purpose, as the way it is attached to your body you can literally just let go of your weapon and then have it back up at the ready much faster than a standard sling. They gave me one while we were prepping to deploy to Iraq.

And it really depends how tight you have it, it appears to be really tight in Fallout, which would actually take awhile to get off, but, its a game, and it looks better like that.

:sadvaultboy:

Ah nuts... well hopefully the Hunting Rifle's scope is good for long range shooting, the muties won't be able to tell where the shot came from at that range anyways.

Maybe we'll get a silencer for the Hi Power, because I do need a good quiet sidearm for when I go invading CL camps.

I'm looking forward to that BestBuy live-stream with Josh answering some questions from the fans, hopefully we'll get a few gun related questions answered that are specifically aimed towards us. :tops:
