One more thread before launch, I guess. I got my text from Gamestop about midnight pickup. I'm ready to go.

So what were we talking about? Mostly about the lovely new Laser RCW, and the most recent question asked was what did we think the mods would be? Also what ammo would it take and reload quantities, as well as a general discussion of how energy weapon ammo works (or rather should work)

One last note: Please refrain from posting any direct links to spoilers. We can talk about them all we want, but no links yet, please.

Edit: Damn they locked that last one quick. I didn't even have time to post a link to the new thread. Mods are on fire today. Guess they're ready for the onslaught. :flamethrower: GO! MODS, GO!

My fault.

I know this is mainly for guns but I wanted to start a topic on melee weapons and poisons but thought I think it would be best not to start e new thread on weapons.

Melee, Poisons, and VATS special moves mega discussion

So poisons, what kinds do you think there will be?

Basic: damage poisons for specific creatures and types and varying intensity.

A slow poison but will take massive damage away from opponent over a long time.

Poison that may affect STR and END so they hold their weapon improperly or bring down their max health.

Poison that may make people knockout or fall asleep on contact with poisoned weapon.

Poison that could automatically cripple a hit limb, torso, or head.

These are all wishes and speculations.

Oh ye of little faith. Upon this rock, I will build my thread.

Seriously though. I started this because there used to be a lot of friction between us gun nutty guys, who tend to be a little more pragmatic about the realism thing, and alot of the other folks. It would derail threads with debates over realism. So I thought the best solution to the problem would be to make a place where we could do our thing, and reciprically, they would know where the loons were and they would understand if they came here, they would have to accept that's the stuff we talk about. It has worked out fabulously.

On topic though, I lost count of all the confirmed weapons. but it's well over 100. FO3 had 54 base weapons in the vanilla version of the game. Do you guys feel that Josh has delivered on his promise of "more than twice as many"?

Did anybody go through them to see if there were any other poisons? I like the sounds of some of those you've listed. I had talked before about a tranqualizer you could shoot out of the dart gun. This would help pacifist playthroughs immensely.

I remember seeing in a video a while back that showed two menus that were activated over a camping fire so this is obviously the crafting interface and saw a good list of items on the right side(I'm guessing these are the outcomes).

I wish I remembered which video this was from, we could take a nice screenshot and expand the size and try to read some of the recipes.


I also saw some good indications that the dart crossbow is back from seeing a questionably obtained video of the first 15 minutes and seeing a toy car in a locker inventory. Also since craftable weapons are back this must mean the dart gun is to. And I'm hoping we can tip the darts with different poisons from the survival skill.

I'm happy about that, I hated that they made all assault rifles fully automatic, I'm betting there is a mod for Full-Auto conversion though, I was hoping for a selective fire switch.
I'd love a silenced, semi-auto Service Rifle.

Most BB guns are air rifles. I don't remember this hint. Got any idea where it was? I'd like to read/hear it if you know.

Maybe theres a ROF mod. I don't think we know any of the mods for the Service Rifle yet.

I think the BB Gun should get some sort of darts, would actually make the weapon useful for once.

Since heat cooldown isn't a game mechanic, I assume that EW fire rates are matched to the weapon's ability to manage head. So a heat sink would actually be a ROF mod? I'm in.

There will be a fast trigger perk you can try, maybe that will help, but you'll lose some accuracy.

Well, I was thinking that if you fire the a (automatic) EW for more than say, 4 seconds, then its accuracy would start to go down and you lasers would start jumping all over the place, so maybe a heat sink would give it a fixed spread.

Wait, is the spread mechanic still in? I hated how when you shot you assault rifle, the bullet would leave at a different angle that the barrel... makes no sense. They need to totally take out spread, besides on some guns like the gatling laser, and make it range now, so say a 10mm pistol would do 10 damage close range, at 100m+ it only does 5.

There's different kinds of .177 BB, from plastic to ceramic and there's .177 pellets, which generate higher velocities and spin stabilization. I've also seen darts. I wonder if Josh thought of this stuff. he thought of just about everything else.

Be nice to find uses for those syringes you find in med labs and such.

Custon ammo recipe:

Syringe+poison of choice+ rubber topping = tranq/posion dart for a modified BB air rifle.

I kinda wanna know what the mods will be for the 10mm SMG still, I am really hoping for a mod that makes it held like a rifle instead of a held like a pistol with two hands. As basicly that that would make it a MP5, so a shoulder rest mod type thing, silencer and reflex scope or any scope period would be niiice.

Ive killed plenty of critters with pellets fired from my air rifle, 800+ FPS on four pumps, i love it.

Probably not I. I like using Pistols and Semi-Automatic Rifles.
