weird easter eggs and random encounters youve seen.

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:44 am

I dunno if I should do this because these are SPOILERS and it`s selfish to ruin someone else`s gameplay just because you had to tell them yours.

So anyone not wanting stuff given away don`t read below...

Encounters I`ve had:

1. Bumped into a woman who wanted me to use my Wabbajac on her, but I`d sold it.
2. Met a guy who gave me something and told me to keep quiet or he`d kill me. Then someone else asked if I`d seen this guy and I said `No`, but he found him anyway and killed him... Which made me nervous so I quietly left.
3. Met some Imperial Guards on the road who were fake, Nice touch.
4. Met a woman on the way to some quest, but she wouldn`t let me help her (fail persuasion). But I liked it.
5. Met a woman who had just escaped bandit slavers and asked for my help giving me their location.
6. Met highway man who tried to steal off me.
7. Met wandering boys who said they`d show me a new dungeon if I paid them- and they weren`t lying this time.

The random events if you explore just keep coming. It`s one reason why I don`t FT.
You gotta learn how to do these: '''''''''... You do them like ′′′′ that, and that's wrong! Go two buttons down from the ′′ button and you'll find the '' button :)

I found an orc dressed as an imperial trying to give me a fine or something..

LOL yea the "gentle giant" attacks the farmer and he runs around shouting "Mercy, I cannot best you!" Not sure what provoked the attack or if it was a glitch. I can walk around Giant camps without them straight out attacking me!

Uhm, maybe it was my presence. LOL I stayed back and just watched, but the Giant charged at the guy immediately. The poor cow was running around all confused. LOL I need to follow that guy again when I see him on my current character. LOL

Edit: Wait I did see him already AND I saw a Giant in the woods with a painted cow... guess he didn't make it this time either. hahahaha

Do the Winterhold Mages College quests and you'll not be able to avoid it. :)

The Highway robber is the only person I've encountered who actually surrenders and goes back to normal dialogue

I also remember an Old Orc asking me to kill him and a random orc trying to sell me drugs outside of Dragon Bridge.
The Orc encounter was kind of sad. I absolutely love the random encounters, though they seem to have dropped off as my level increased. The scheming robber being followed by an angry hunter is fun, running into Maiq ono the roads outside of Markath was awesome, hassling the Thalmor when I see them - sweet, meeting the alchemist whose bee in a jar I just stole, cool - coming back that way later and finding them dead... sad. :( The nice little old lady with a not so nice secret in her basemant. Random witchers, robbers, drunks, the fail-mage who gives you his staff, the fact that I can talk the highwayman out of trying to rob me, the fact that the DB sent random assassins after me, or someone I robbed sent some thugs after me, finding Vigilants of Stendarr fighting in the wild, meeting up with the Khajiiti on their travels... there was some nice attention paid to trying to give the world a bit of life and randomness. I have run into people both on the roads and out in the wilderness.

I even love some random ambushes. Hey, a pretty grove. Aww, no one around at all... but a poor dead alchemist. She wont' mind if I take her stuffs... WTF, three Spriggans! They stealthed in and I had a fun fight.

The other day i saw a man leading a painted cow to the giant camp near Whiterun i think maby from rorikstead. he said they were sacrificing the cow to the giants as a peace offering so they wouldent attack their farms.
had a hilarious event with him. I had been trying to sneak into a giant camp to rob their chest, but was too low to be able to tackle the giant and the three mammoths that were at his camp. As I gave up and was skulking off, I see that dude with the cow. We chat, he cheerfully announces he is offering the cow to the giants... I figure Hmmm, I will follow at a distance in sneak mode and maybe I can still get to the chest while they are distracted by this guy. So I am sneaking around as the farmer leads the cow to the camp. They detect eye is slightly open... I hear the Giant make angry giant noises, the mammoths start trumpeting and I hear the farmer scream something... I sneak closer, wanting that chest... then I hear Whomp and see the farmer airborne from the giants club. I start to giggle helplessly - he went flying "off screen", really airborne. I hear the mammoths trumpet again and realize... that they can see me - they turn as one, along with the giant and literally start stampeding toward me. Ground shake and everything, OH CRAP!!!! I start running and used the Whirlwind Sprint shout and keep sprinting until I am out of range. ...
... then I got pwned by a bear, because I wasn't paying attention.

- While I was riding my horse on the road in the woods near Riften, I ran into a Khajiit with no name. He said he had some stuff for sale (skooma and sleeping tree sap) and asked me if I wanted to buy some. I picked one of the dialogue options; something along the lines of "Isn't that illegal?" Well, he didn't like that one bit and acted like I was going to turn him in.So he attacked me.After hitting him a couple times, his health got down low and he yielded.I then proceeded to buy up everything in his inventory and rode away on my horse.

- One day I decided to go take a walk up the road from the Darkbrotherhood Sanctuary near Falkreath. As I came to a fork in the road, I ran into a female mercenary in full ebony armor. When I spoke to her, I was able to persuade her with gold to let me finish her job.She agreed and ran off. I don't think the job got flagged in my quest list, nor do I know what it was called.Strange.

- After checking out the shipwreck named 'Wreck of the Winter War', I decided to head NNE of here to an iceberg situated on top of an island. As I swam closer, I noticed a flag waving in the distance on a beach. When I landed on the beach, I found the following:
- An oar stuck into the ground with a flag tied around it
- A skeleton laying next to a crate with the book titled 'Beggar' laying on top
- Six gold ingots were laying behind the crate
- A dagger called 'Steel dagger of Ice' laying on the ground

I encountered M'aiq once, and kept moving on, and then down the road a ways my next random encounter was with M'aiq again and he was telling me about how he can Fast Travel.

 Apparently so, since that's the only way he would have gotten past me.

The random hunters that chase bunnies.

I am especially fond of the ones that shout, "Skyrim belongs to the nords!" as they chase down the bunnies.

I've come across numerous mercs, and and despite taking on their job, I've never known what or where it was either.

Noble on a horse escorted by an Imperial soldier. Both are typically high-handed. I ignored them and continued down the road, where I encountered 3 wolves. As I killed them, I noticed a couple of giants apparently sauntering towards me. I thought I'd wait and see what would happen when the noble and giants met up.

Well, the giants ambled off the road, and the noble was nowhere to be seen. So I went back up the road and there they were, staring at the dead wolves!

I was walking along a river and came across an abandoned shack, a sabre tooth cat came running out and after I killed it I saw the Bloodied dismembered remains of the unlucky hermit, blood was everywhere.

There was another shack near Falkreath where there was a dead corpse with a journal describing how he got some disease and the last days of his life.

And last but not least I came across a shack overrun with Skeevers, the random buildings have the best stories around them.

While off the road, ran into a hunter who told me he had been attacked by a vampire and was now infected and he was far enough out in the wild he would have turned before he could get any help, and he begged me to give him any cure disease potions I might have before it was too late. I just happened to have a spare, so I gave him one, he drank it immediately, thanked me profusely, and, IIRC, he might have given me some money as thanks. I'm wondering what would have halppened if I had refused, might he have turned right then and there and attacked me as a vampire?

I saw a video on YouTube about taking a Leap of Faith like in Assassin's Creed. Then a Redguard's ghost appeared and gave the player +1 Speechcraft for taking the Leap. Seemed authentic, with voice acting and all. I've never seen the place, though.

Things for me to look at besides that: the Wabbajack lady, fake Imperials (still haven't seen them... that I know of) and actually following the guy who offers a sacrificial cow to Giants. :D

Yup, that kill-an-old-Orc quest had
Spoiler
Umbra from Morrowind
written all over it.

One encounter I miraculously haven't seen mentioned here is a certain jester with a broken carriage, with his "mother" on board. :)

It's because it's not a random event. He is Cicero from the Dark Brotherhood carrying Night Mother to the DB sanctuary in Falkreath.

As for the location you are looking for it's called Bard's Leap Summit and is in the Reach, but need to take out a wave of Forsworns to get there.

You can pick up Meeko, the dog of the deceased owner near Falkreath. (Meeko's Shack)

Someone said that if you follow a fox, he can lead you to places or treasures. So, I did that last night and I came across a few tents and 2 Hunters fighting a Frost Troll. I dispatched him quickly, saving the hunters life and what do they do? They draw their bow and yell you will not get away... and shoot my guide, the little fox. awwwwwwwwwww meanies! LOL

Concerning the mercenary encounters. I guess they can lead you to a cave or a fort if you follow them. I stopped trying to take over their contracts, since I never know where they are heading and I don't have time to follow them all the time.

Oh someone mentioned Frostflow Lighthouse and how you can get a permanent +10% to healing spells there. I've done it on a previous character, but didn't know about that. Once you dispatch the Chaurus Reaper, in the main chamber of the cave beneath the Lighthouse, loot Habd's remains and return to the lighthouse. Head up to the lighthouse fire and activate it. Sailor's Repose will be added to your active effects.

Yes, if you read everyone's journals, you'll discover Habd mentioned to his wife some time that he wants his remains to be laid to rest in the fire of a lighthouse when he dies. That's the story behind it. (In fact, I vaguely noticed the quest mark directs you to it too)

I guess others will already have discovered it (probably related to a quest?), but there's a camp of Mammoth poachers somewhere north to north-west from Whiterun. Seems like they caught the animals with a pitfall. Also, very handy if you need mammoth snouts or tusks.

Is it possible that a picked up dog which has been commanded to wait at your home, will stay there forever ignoring the three day rule? I have not yet tried it with Meeko, but I've heard from someone else his dog stayed at his home, and I've also picked up a stray dog recently and left it at the Sky Heaven Temple, and he stays. Even 'though I already got the message he's returning to his home. I'll also try it with Meeko soon.

The cave/camp you mentioned, Halted Steam Camp I think it is, is where you can pick up the Spell Book - Transmute! Very handy to have

And yes, I have Meeko on my other character and I keep him at my Riften home. I told him to wait there, put out some cooked beef and leave him on the porch (in case he has to go... LOL). So far, I haven't received the message that my dog returned home.

Now, on my current character, I left Meeko at the Markarth Stables, thought he would enjoy the company of another dog (yea yea, I have a mega soft spot for animals, both virtual and real ones LOL) but after a day or so, I did get the message your dog returned home. I haven't checked the stables though or Meeko's shack.

Not sure if it should count as an Easter Egg.... but the kids in Solitude asking me if I wanted to play tag reminded me of Little Lamplight. Except less annoying.

Last night I ran into a Frost Troll cave that had a skeleton hanging from the iced over ceiling. Makes me wonder if a dev was a Star Wars fan.

Last night around the outskirts of whiterun I came across a skeleton arm in a dried up lake holding a dwarven sword towards the sky ala the lady of the lake from Excalibur.

I found this as well. Makes you wonder how many such items are around Skyrim.
