Wendigos...

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 5:45 am

No, Wendigos arn't like werewolves. Unlike werewolves your always in wendigo form and there is nothing on your mind besides filling your bottomless pit known as a stomach as your eternal hunger drives you mad

actually, evidence shows that werewolf legends partially inspired the wendigo legends, including the fact that wendigo can adopt children(crazy people who worship it), and they will eventually become a wendigo theself, kinda like a werewolf will take a pack.

Wendigos eat any and all living things, their singular goal is to feed their endless hunger. Werewolf legends came from Europe, long after the Wendigo legends were born in North America

What the flippidy floppity floop is a wendingo?!
It's a monster born from a human eating the flesh of another human. They turn into hideous wildmen, who are eternally starving but can never fill their stomach

And don't forget that they can be giants, because they can become larger every time they eat something.
"My feet of fire, my burning feet of fire."
I love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mY_BXNvbr8E films, if TES ever want to add wendigos, they should give him a call.

I did not know that
The classic Algernon Blackwood story has a huge thing in it, and when Stephen King implies one in Pet Sematary it seems to be a towering creature. Larry Fessenden must really like 'em, though, since he's now made at least 2 unconnected feature films on them (and probably at least one short). The Last Winter is a fantastic film, imo. I wouldn't want to see any human sized Wendigos in TES, but the kind of forest tree sized, deer bone things that I am used to.

I think both sizes would do, with the smaller ones good for scaring you in the dead of night

Hah...binkyboy...moving along, Being able to change from a werewolf to a wendigo kinda like a going from vampire to vampire lord would be interesting. I personally thing the werewolves are powerful enough, but maybe add a few neat abilities and have a toggle form like a whispy white werewolf creature. That might be interesting!...to me at least :P

Wendigos are in no way related to werewolves!

Ah I see the link to Namira now. I never knew that is how they turned. I was linking then to Hircine because of how they looked but that would make more sense.
Saying that if it could be classed as a form of Lycanthropy, then it would have to have something to do with Hircine as he is the father of Were beasts.

Maybe a plot by Namira who is trying to infect the Lycanthropy strain for her own purposes? Turning Hircines hunters into her own diseased, hideous pets somehow? Hircine becomes the hunted and has to employ the Dragonborns help. :bunny:

It's not like Wendigos would break lore, they already have a cannibal aspect to Skyrim if you do Namira's quest.

It's not like Bethesda gives a [censored] about breaking lore either.

Mythical lore or their lore?

Because you can't break your own lore, only retcon it.

Kind of like Hungers but more humanoid?

not only that but the wendigo after he reaches the isolation stage loses all sense of reason and humanity. They become a lot like feral ghouls tbh, they are thin, emaciated, their bodies warped by their...condition. Their face becomes bony and skull like and their voices are a howl of demented hunger and agonised torment. If a Wendigo pins you, you're already dinner.

Looking at the old Legends I always respected them, moreso than feared them. I saw them as guardians of the forests, protectors of nature. I seriously wish they were still around, we could use something to protect our forests from the bloody capitalist hunger that burns them to the ground.

Quick question, what are the 'normal' Wendigos? I am currently only thinking about the Wendigos from MLP-FiM... (Might be different spelling, and such)

What is a hunger?

Hungers are Daedric Creatures that feasts on the misery of others, I think... They normally use melee attacks and magic that degrades your armor and weapons.

I would gladly link a picture of one if ye' ask for such.

Humans who have eaten human flesh and have been transformed into monsters whose only desire is to eat. The other version is a cannibal spirit that possesses humans and turns them into Wendigos
