Werebears?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 8:47 pm

The first thing that jumped out at me in the Dragonborn trailer was about 1:00 in. There was a brief shot of the character wearing some kind of armor with a helmet that resembled a bear's head, I for one really hope this is some kind of werebear faction armor or something along these lines. Any other speculation or opinions on this?

...So you see a helmet with Bear motif, and your first thought is Wearbears...
...Hell, Bloodmoon had similar headgear...
...Stormcloak Officers also wore Bear pelts on their heads...

So no, I'm not enticed to believe it's the long sought Werebear faction...

That is simply Bear Armor. It was featured in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind expansion "Bloodmoon" when we first visited Solstheim. It was frequently seen being worn by the Nord natives. It's also in Skyrim though rarer. I am still hoping for Werebears though. With apparent Dragon riding, we are going down the list of things featured in the Game Jam Video.

Yeah that's just Nordic bear armor (that doesn't mean there won't be wear bears, though).

Yeah I guess just Nordic armor would make more sense... I won't give up my hopes on werebears finally being put into the game though.

Like everyone else said it's most likely just nordic armor, but it would make a good outfit for a werebear character.

The armour in the trailer is pretty much the same armour the Skaal wear in bloodmoon. I don't really see werebears happening but HEY you never know.

I'm dragging this a bit... I'm just curious. I'm not under the same 'fan-dom' spell lycanthropy has over some of the forum-goers, but I'm almost sure they'll implement them in Solstheim. But how? I mean, another faction? Or just a single person who you do a few quests for/help out and in return, he/she grants you the ability to become a Were-bear? Will you have to get rid of your were-wolf ability? Will it have it's own perk-tree? I know it took some time for werewolves to have a perk tree. Werewolves and werebears enemies? or do the co-exist?

I'd love them to bring in werebears, I have a character saved just for that. I mean, the roleplaying aspect of being a Nord Werebear and fighting for the stormcloaks. It'd be a ton of fun.
Ps. (anbjorn, Bjorn means bear)

Man, this makes me want werebears even more! Just imagine a bearded, nord berserker werebear wearing that armor!

So we'll know it's in the game even though they make a horrible effort to hide it?

Considering there was no obvious werebear-related data in the last patch, they must be doing a pretty good job at hiding its inclusion in Dragonborn.

That said, I don't have too many doubts about them implementing werebears at some point, but I'm not so sure if this is the DLC expansion that'll do them. I suspect Bethesda may have something big planned for werebears for when they do them. You never know with Bethesda, besides the bugs that crop up here and there (that need fixing) and the fact that they do Fallout and singleplayer TES titles.

I'm not an expert on how patches and DLC work, but wasn't there some stuff that didn't appear in the patch before Dawnguard, but was in the DLC itself?

I don't know if you played Daggerfall, but in that game, wereboars were the most common. Werewolves were uncommon.
Now, here we are with no wild boars and no wereboars at all.

I think with DB being on Solstheim I don't see why Beth can't tie-in Werebears some how. Maybe they all migrated to Solstheim.

Even though the armor has nothing to do with werebears doesnt mean its out of the loop. Every thing from Game Jam is slowly making its way into the game and that includes werebears.

I agree, Gamejam video had Adoption, Werebears, Dragon riding, water arrows, Assassin vision, Goblins, Spears, Giant Mudcrab, and Vampire Lord. Everything is confirmed except Vision, Arrows, Werebear, and Mudcrab. Their is a high chance Werebears will be in this DLC considering it is a settlement for Lycanthropes. If you played Morrowind then you would know.

If they do put werebears into the game then i bet you will still be a werewolf, it would be in the powers collum, it would also be call Beast Form like werewolves are the description will just read " Take on the form of a Bear", instead of wolf.
