"Nani nani" Not exactly sure what this means. It's something like "Huh?" or "What's that?" or "What do you mean?" It's used to indicate perplexion or it's a request for more information. I think?
"Baka!" Stupid! Idiot! Simpleton!
"Gaijin" Foreigner.
"Nikkeijin" Japanese emigrants, i.e. those living in countries other than Japan.
"Dango" A dumpling, or a bun hairstyle.
"Iye!" No! Google translate gave me a lot of other translations, but not this one, so I'm not sure what's going on there.
"Hai!" Yes!/Right-o!/Okay!/Bob's your uncle!/Understood!
"Nihongo" What the Japanese call the Japanese language.
"Konichiwa!" Hello. Usually said in a twee, sickeningly sweet voice.
"Gomenasai" Sorry
"Futaro" Vagabond, vagrant.
There's also a lot you can learn about Japanese culture, but I already knew most of it. Like, advlt men sidling up to young girls and offering them money. Etc.
I did learn that younger people don't generally refer to each other by first names. Don't know why that is, exactly, yet. I guess it's because it indicates (a lot of) familiarity, and they might not want to indicate a closeness that isn't there.
So, I'm wondering... I know a lot of you watch anime. What have you learned from it?
