What are you reading?

Nice. That was my first by him, and still my favourite.
Uncut version?
Yes, the Complete and Uncut edition, and it's my first by him as well.

I would encourage poeple to read Hamlet. I'm really more of an American Psycho, Trainspotting, or The Tommyknockers kinda guy, but somehow reading throught that piece really felt interesting.

I'd actually heard that.
I remember when I was a kid, EVERYONE had some of his books, but weirdly (because I read a lot and loved talking animal stuff) I never actually read one of his books. Believe it or not, I was planning on reading one at some point anyway (I don't really mind reading kids books, if they're good). You think they'd hold up at all to a non-kid?

I don't know to tell you the truth, perhaps. They're fairly long for children's books.

Yeah, it's good. I've only read the uncut version (which is why I was asking him). I'm not exactly sure what he added, but it was like 400 pages (goes from 800 to 1200 in paperback at least) so I'm sure some parts I liked were "new".

Anyway, if you like/love post-apocolyptic scenarios and that kind of stuff (people trying to live and survive, create some sort of society) I'm guessing you'd like the Stand.
All the stuff dealing with the honchos in the Army Base was added, and The Wolfman (edit: or whatever he was called in the uncut, the guy in the car the crazy fire-luvin' guy traveled with), among other things.

I still have an old copy of the original published version of The Stand, which I'd read many times before the uncut version came out. I hesitated buying the uncut because I thought the original was a masterpiece already. When I saw the mini-series tho, I was like "what is all this stuff, that wasn't in the book" and finally went out and bought it. It does add to the story/chrs. a bit, but I still sorta prefer the original....it's "tighter". I tended to like King's books a bit more before he was allowed to just run on and on forever/do whatever he wants.

I believe it was just 'The Kid'. The Kid and Trashcan Man. I wanna take a road trip with those two guys. Guess its time to reread The Stand.

I've been reading "'Salems Lot" by Stephen King and "The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Tales" (bunch of stories) by HP Lovecraft.
Heh, wow. Me too. I have the Lovecraft volume on my shelf (read a few stories) and I'm about 50 pages from finishing 'Salem's Lot.

I'm reading Macbeth for school. I like it. Better than The Tempest. Other than that, I'm currently reading The Black Prism by Brent Weeks and Shadow of a Dark Queen by Raymond E Feist.

Halo: Primordium
Any good? I love halo and all the books but I found the first in the forerunner series kind of boring.

It's fantastic, but it's still similar to the first book. This one hasn't revealed too much yet, but I'm only halfway through it.

I didn't even know Aliens and Fisftul were books. Are they like novelizations of the movies?

The Beauty and the Sorrow

it's a collection of diary entries written by people during WWI. Some of them are soldiers, some of them are women who were nurses, others are even children. It's kind of depressing though when you come upon an entry where the person dies which is often the case with soldier's entries.

Ah well if it's similar to the first one it's probably not for me, which is a shame because I enjoy reading halo fiction immensely, probably more so than playing the games.
Just finished reading Glasslands not long ago and it was pretty interesting, can't wait for the sequel.

Nothing at the moment, however, I've been reading some excerpts from the books on the Diablo universe to see if I might be interested in those. No decision made yet.

Oh I just remembered a question I meant to ask long ago and this seems the thread to ask right now but does anyone know of any books set in the deus ex universe?
While the gameplay bored me with HR I found the setting and stuff quite interesting.

Not words, music, but O'Neill's 1001, the Dance Music of Ireland is my constant companion; there is always room for a new tune.

Oh, I really gotta read that. I've read American Gods and Anansi Boys by Gaiman so far. Oh, and Good Omens with Pratchett.
