I just can't stand Aeneas' character. Odysseus knew how to get what he needed. Aeneas is a goody-two-shoes type.
There's also the fact that the book is just one big rip-off, like everything else of the Roman's.
I agree without hesitation that Aeneas is a dike. Howver, if you read between the lines with regards to Virgil's subtle cues, certain classicists are adamant that he's actually a parody. Aeneas is unherently unlikeable. The real humanity in the Aeneid is in the characters that the plot chews up and sacrifices; Turnus, Dido, Amata, Camilla, Lavinia. Many scholars argue that the Aenied is a clever satire of the values that the Odyssey extolls... a viewpoint which I personally agree with.
