So, what are your opinions of Dawnguard so far?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 8:26 am

So I'm at work and have yet to play Dawnguard (though it is downloaded), and was just wondering, for those who have played it, what do you think? Please don't give big spoilers or anything!

It is one fine DLC...................New quests, new world areas, new enemies, new excellent follower.

IMHO it is awesome.

I had the beta, so I can tell you that it is one action packed dlc for sure. And your not done after the main quest is finished. Comes with another really long sidequest with some pretty cool loot at the end. Dawnguard makes the main quest to vanilla Skyrim seem boring in comparison

How far into it are you? like concerning the main quest, like 1/4 done?

This. Plus, I really like the art design. The weapons and armour in particular are some of the best I've ever seen in any Bethesda DLC.

How many new weapons would you say that there are, like a rough estimate? I know about cbows, dB weapons and stuff, but is there an add on of new silver weapons too?

I'm not too far into it, so I can't say for sure, but I'm already wielding three new weapons and I haven't even looked into making DB weapons yet.

Oh, and a cool new shield. I'm more pleased with my character's weapons and armour now than I ever have been before.

There's the dragonbone weapons for 1, the new crossbow and its upgrades, the bow of Auri' el, the shield of auri el, the aetherium crown, shield, and staff, dawnguard one handed ax and hammer, dawnguard armor, and shield, new falmer armor, and Harkons sword(only good for vamps). There's also vampire armor as well. They sadly dont have any special silver weapons or a dawnguard sword. They just had dawnguard hammer and one handed axe when I was playing the beta, unless they added it, but I doubt it. I used Dawnbreaker with my new dawnguard armor throughout the dlc anyway, which was extremely epic.

So I have a question about the Soul Cairn, from all the videos I watched from E3, the Soul Cair appeared rather bland, as though much of it was randomly generated, please tell me that I am wrong, is it actually like this?

The soul cairn is the only barren wasteland that ever made me actually want to explore it. And the horse is extremely convenient since u can summon it wherever u want. Its magicka cost is also really low, since I can use it on my warrior character no Conjuration training required.

Oh yeah that's right I forgot that you could summon it, thats so baller! So the Soul Cairn isn't as dull as it looked in the E3 stuff? there's alot of depth to it?

Must say I really like it so far! Only letdown is the vampire lord form; I hate third person view and the transformation whilst looking cool takes too much time(enemies hitting you during transforming ugh).
Designs are great and NPC's are memorable IMO.

^Cool VIdar, and yeah I must admit I didn't like the Werewolf thrd person view either, though it does seem like the advantages of being a vamp lord are alot better than as ww, so do you transform back after a certain period of time like in ww mode?

Not that I noticed so far and I guess it has no time period to it as there is a revert form "power". I do like the two modes the form has; hover/magic and ground/combat.
