So, what did you honestly expect from the Elder Scrolls Onli

Doesn't matter. This game is very real and very happening. TES is heading in the direction it needs to. It actually should have happened sooner. This is what Skyrim should have been.

But the ES has never been known, or defined, by its gameplay. It was the vast world and exploration that made the ES what it is.

Which according to the GI leaks, the MMO still has.

well i expected that with that kinda money and that ammount of people they would be going truly unique, not niche unique but without all the boundries normal MMORPGs have. I mean lesser fundet games managed to do that. i Figured with that ammount of money, hell they might aswell do Skyrim but with a million people.

Na im gonna be thinking, this looks like a fantasy mmo, but not wow, WoW has a far more cartoony look, and plays like guild wars 2

wutdafuq did i just read?
Uhh me saying the combat isn't important, and never made the series famous, it was the open world exploration that people bought the game for.

Real time combat, which is what the Elder Scrolls changed about RPGs in the first place. It's so silly the way game makers keep the depth of RPGs apart from the rapid real time strategic combat of games like Blade of Darkness. Tera and Firefall are good indications of what we could have seen realized with the vast worlds of Elder Scrolls to explore with friends at you side.

Firefall is a FPS, and TERa is a grindfest Korean MMORPG

having TES Online be like any of them would be terrible.

I expected an Elder Scrolls game, not a half-assed fantasy setting MMO with 'Elder Scrolls' plastered over the front of it.

If mod makers have been relatively close, if not successful in creating multiplayer modifications for previous Elder Scrolls (Hi Morrowind) games, with nothing more than some free time and the Creation Kit, I sure as hell expect Zenimax to be able to effectively create a legitimate Elder Scrolls MMO. The game has been in development for how long now? And not only do they have millions of dollars in funding, they have the game developers themselves for god's sake. I don't understand how you could even have any form of a tangible excuse for not putting out a AAA game.

If the leaks are true, this is beyond baffling to me; A multi-million dollar company incapable of finishing what mods have already started. I would have been far more content with Skyrim Co-op DLC.
I'm praying it's all a huge troll and nothing more.

Honestly? I expected Skyrim with bros. What we got was World of Warcraft: Tamriel Edition. The difference is enormous.

When you say real time combat what exactly are you refering to?

you didnt play the old games did you? TES introduced the action style combat system to CRPGs (well to popular CRPGs) Arena and Daggerfall had a game based around directed sword swings (Even if it was very clunky) while other games like Might and Magic or Wizardry used a more turn and party based system.

I think he means a system where you have to imput every movement and every slash with no autoattack and no skill cooldown

Yeah, the first person direct combat (with 3rd person option)

I disagree with a third person option. People will use it just because of the view advantage over first person. If it is going to be first person, it needs to be locked first person.

I expected a new concept of MMO, with more importance being given to the social aspects and roleplay. TES series is perfect for roleplay because of its freedom, even if the NPCs dont react properly (remembering that you are already the arch-mage), you can always use your imagination because you can be everything and go everywhere. I think the only hope for a MMO that deliver this kind of feeling now is the World of Darkness. Games like GW, DAOC, WOW are focused on group combat, leveling, getting stronger...and TES:O is following this same path.

Also, I think it will be good if people get ready to see TES:O as generic fantasy MMO with low expectations. The more I read about it, more I think that TES: O is the same case of games based on movies franchise. You know, meh games that explore people`s interest on having everything about Indiana Jones, Hulk, Superman....and now Skyrim. I just dont buy the five years development history, the information and screens we receive dont seem to be from a huge project. My guess is that the game was suggested on 2007, they did some research and forget about. Them, last year, seeing all the crowd Skyrim attracted, they decide to go back and finished the game.

i expect that the game would have a free download and registration section like the 100s of MMO so that you would have all the players in , lots
of players cant buy it . then you can put ads in it and sell stuff like weapons armor ex with tokens , like these games

http://www.freemmogamer.com/2008/09/mmorts-strategy.html

they players also can get ranked and trade to get some free tokens also , its an equation of getting loads of players buying things all of the time
or fewer players buying the game 1 time purchase as you see there 100s of those free games i played lots of them they are good .

In a way I am glad that this MMO looks like utter crap and everyone is rightfully unhappy with it. I feel like a 'good' German during the last days of the war, seeing the rest of the population wake up to the fact that they supported an evil empire.

Yes, it's exactly like that!

Did people honestly expect a "Skyrim type world with other players"? Did Skyrim itself not show you what Beth and Zenimax are about? Pure greed and laziness over creativity and innovation. They would rather copy and paste World of Warcraft and stick their logo on it than actually go to any effort to create a new form of MMO that fans would want. Their excuse that players having their own homes is "too difficult to implement in an MMO" is so ludicrous considering FFXI did this a decade ago.

The sooner this game fails hard and Zenimax crumbles, the better. I don't even know if Bethesda can redeem themselves anymore after their disgraceful PS3 shenanigans, and the bland diluted Oblivion-lite bugged-as-hell game that we call Skyrim.

some Elder scrolls feel. And no I am not only referring to combat.

The fact you're race is not limited to an specific faction.
The fact you could make your own custom class.
That you could become a vampire. and in Skyrim/morrowind a werewolf.
That the graphics takes a huge leap backward.
The fact you could have a house.
I don't really mind the combat system of TES:O but the way I see it, the freedom and customisation is obliterated.

The way I see TES:O when you enter the world and leave the starting zone, you got your but kicked. due the level difference.

Freedom to be part of the world. Not to play as the "hero" as in generic MMORPGS, just to be part of the world. Freedom to do as you please, yes, rob, murder, plunder included. Perhaps setting up an blacksmithery or an inn, being a necromancer studying forbidden magic in woods, and mages guild sends apprentices to deal with you. All that kind of stuff, just pretty much make the combat system doable to MMO (which they did, and that was expected from my side) but then make it pure TES with all its features, and make it MMORPG, don't make anyone an incarnation of god or anything. Just regular folk, living their lives in TES universe. Let it be conflict or tavern owning, it should be up to players to decide it.
