And Drakes are Septims. It's just a slang term for it, kind of like how we (at least in the US) sometimes call dollars "bucks". Drake = Dragon = Empire, with the Empire's dragon symbol on the back of the coin.
I actually quite like the idea of different currencies for separate factions. That way if at 50+ you want to get faction-specific weapons or clothing from other factions, you have to go adventuring in that area or at least trade with the shopkeepers (who would probably give you a lower price for goods because you're a filthy foreigner). It would go a long way to making the different areas feel more remote.
Gold, silver, and copper, just like World of Warcraft! duh.
But really idk.
hey dude, copper, silver, gold (and platinum) came long before wow.
herp derp.
I'm cool with gold. It would be kinda fun if they had multiple types of currencies though to help portray culture.
We could have some "Remans" floating around from that dynasty. This would be what the current rulers of Cyrodiil used to look legitimate. Then you could have faction specific coins that opponents of the Alliances refuse to use. It would just be a little thing but it would help add to the immersion IMO.
These motherlovers don't know what an electrum coin is I bet.
Doesn't matter. Tiber Septim retroactively CHIMed all the gold into Septims. Dwemer coins are the only exception because of their specific metal type.
CHIM is a great concept and I hate to see it used so casually. Turns it into the "a wizard did it" of TES.
To be fair, there really isn't anything that CAN'T be tampered with in such a fashion.
In other news: Aspiring Hairstylist is found dead after attempting to trim a little too much off the top of a member of the Morag Tong.
Very true. Although it would be great to see native currencies, I just don't see it happening.
Would be nice to have copper, silver and gold coins but this can get confusing for some players so I can see there only being gold coins. "oh that bread will cost 3 gold coins sir thank you." Not realistic is it ?
Not like it was ever realistic in the Elder Scrolls games anyways. Although Septims are not necessarily solid gold.
Would be nice if future games introduced tiered currency.
Fixed that for you.
It's been since at least EverQuest.
Elf ears? ook ok to much how about kitty cat tails ( nice fur lined cloak) ?..... Damn OHHH I know argonian skin, you can trade like animal pelts… a nice pair of lizard skinned boots?
Fine so we will keep it Peta friendly to a point…. I will be ok with gold silver copper... the usual
* No animals or Races of ,were hurt in the process of this post
There is modelling something to be realistic in order to improve upon the game experience and then there is making something realistic for the sake of realism.
Coins are something that fall into the latter category. The novelty of such a system dies very fast (I remember EQ coins and never once felt it improved the game experience, yet remember a great many times thinking how much of a pita it was).
I would imagine gold coins. It requires less work and allows people to imagine whichever currency their imagination allows.
Your idea is not bad …has some intriguing possibilities
I get my boots and matching gloves, toss in a fur lined cloak and Peta will be none the wiser…. I doubt they care what happens to those dunmer.
The only currency listed in the inventory is "Gold."
