Which race do you think you would be?

I'd probably be a native to the Reach when all is said and done, considering my actual nationality.

Honestly ? All I get from Skyrim is Scotland. Our situations are so similar. We're in the far North, We have the nationalists (Stormcloaks) and the Unionists (Empire) using similar arguments used in the game. Nationalists arguing that the UK is corrupt and is severely mismanaging Scotland (which is true) and the unionists claiming that Scotland is too weak to survive without the UK (which is total horse[censored]), as well as the whole Talos was a Nord who founded the Empire so we've always been a part of it thing, James VI was a Scottish king who inherited the thrones of England and Ireland and basically created Britain (certainly paved the way for it's creation anyway).

Then you have the Nords themselves, pale, fair haired and skinned and tall. As well as their personality which is stubborn, dislike being told who to worship and what to do by others, stuck in the glory of their past and accepting but not exactly friendly or welcoming of outsiders as well as being heavy drinkers. I mean I know there culture is mostly based on Nordic culture but you can't argue Skyrim's situation doesn't closely mirror Scotland's. As well as the fact that the Nords themselves resemble our people more than Bretons at least society wise.

The Definition of culture:

The totality of socially transmitted behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and all other products of human work and thought.

(Source: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/culture)

The first part: "The totality of socially transmitted behavior patterns..." is exactly what you describe in your post. Culture is not about looks, it's about behavior, art, music, architecture, mythology and so on. It's not about looks.

Sure, you may have a mentality that fits in the definition of a certain culture, sure, but it's different than being a part of that culture. A culture is made up of individuals who are all different. It doesn't make sense to say "I like to think about the universe, therefor I'm an ancient Greek", that's ridiculous.

Then it follows, that you must think the OP's question is ridiculous. Which it is, but really, pretty much anything we discuss in here is ridiculous.
And your attempt to draw a straight line from "I'm more like" to "I am" seems unecessary, and doesn't really relate to the question put forth.
I don't think that I am any of the races, obviously, but I definitely feel more drawn towards/feel more like some of them and their cultures.

So really, it is about you and me as individuals, choosing which culture and general way of life we find the most commendable. I might turn
your own argument against yourself and ask, why do you have to choose to be a Nord just because you're from a Nordic country?
You're an individual, right? Why aren't you a Khajiit or a Redguard?

I definitely understand where you're coming from though, that none of us are the same and that we all possess different qualities as individuals,
but you must admit, that we, the individuals, are formed in the image of a culture, whether it's local, regional, national or international.

The heights got to be a bonus as well right ? Be pretty cool towering above all other races.
Yeah that's the next best thing with it, going around and looking down on others.

Ok, I take it back, it's not ridiculous, sorry (what was I thinking) :/

You have a good point, I think I totally misunderstood the topic, thanks for clearing things up
