Which race do you think you would be?

Wasn't Russia founded by Swedish Vikings ? Or at least the kingdom that would eventually become Russia. I know it's a bit of a controversial theory.

I did mean Latvia/Lithuania but I've just noticed they aren't actually classed as Slavic.

I just mean appearance wise. Generally Southern slavs have darker hair and eyes than other Slavic groups (I think).

Swedish vikings did indeed travel to Russia, but I'm not sure if a Swedish king actually founded it. According to Wikipedia, it was founded when Rurik (who was according to some theories Swedish) became "knez" in Rus.

I would most likely be a Nord, I'm 6'6 with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. My ancestry is a Brit/Scot mix and the Scots were heavily raided and settled by vikings at one point as well as the British isles area, and most of my Scot side lived in cold mountainous regions.

Wikipedia isn't the most accurate when it comes to historical fact though. For example it claims Dalriada (a kingdom in Western Scotland) was founded by Irish invaders. Despite no archaeological or historical evidence pointing to this being the case.

I know, that's why I felt that it was important to state that wikipedia was my source

I know about the Swedish travels to Russia for a fact though

Many Scottish people with no foreign ancestry at all also have blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skin (me being one example). It's not an appearance solely limited to Scandinavia and in fact it isn't anywhere near as common there as most people believe. People tend to forget Scotland is quite a good deal further North than Denmark.

Also Scott isn't right. The correct terms are either Scot(s) or Scottish. It is confusing considering the double t in Scottish, but hey that's the English language for you.

Scotland wasn't that badly raided by the Norse. They settled a couple of regions in the far North and West of the country and most of these are now considered to have been relatively peaceful, with interbreeding being very common.

True. I have brown hair and I am Swedish. Sure, it's common to be blonde in Scandinavia, but it's also common to have brown hair.

According to my guide when I was visiting Greek historical sites, she said that ancient Greeks also often had blue eyes and blonde hair.

Hmm. To be honest, I'd most likely be a Breton based both on appearance and general personality. I love learning new knowledge (as long as it interests me) and tend to have a more logical view on things.

Leaving out appearance, the Argonians and Dunmer fit me even more personality-wise. I tend to be more reserved and introspective, keeping to myself most of the time. I am usually skeptical and distrustful toward others until they have proven themselves trustworthy. My loyalty belongs to my family and a small circle of close friends which I will intensely defend.

More points toward being an Argonian or Dunmer: I love being in the water and am very tolerant of high temperatures.

"Knez" transcribes roughly as "duke". At the time, the territory we now know as western Russia was a collection of independent duchies called "volosts" that were later united into a single country at the end of the Medieval period, in no small part thanks to "Ivan the Fierce", a tyrant that ruled with an iron fist. And yes, the region does have quite a history with the Swedish kingdom.
Anyway, Russians resemble Nords the most - because of their love for alcohol and their medieval lodgings that resembled that of Skyrims. And a lot of them are fair-haired.

That's true but I think the Greeks tended to overstate their fair features in an attempt to distance themselves from Turks. I've been to Greece and most people were very dark haired and skinned, they looked really similar to the Turks when I visited there I felt.

I think Sweden is the highest percentage of blonde haired people, the percentages tend to dwindle in an outward circle from a particular part of Sweden as well as Lithuania I believe. There was a map on Wikipedia that was really interesting but it's been removed.

If I remember correctly from what my guide said, most Greeks had influences from the Turks from the time they where a part of the Osman empire (I', not 100% sure she said that though). And yes, the ancient Greek loved to overstate their "fair" features in statues and such things.

Not sure what you mean by Baltic Slavs - if you count Russia separately, that leaves only Poland. You were probably thinking of Balts (Latvia, Lithuania).

Estonia could be grouped with FInland as they have the same ancestry. It's true that no race in TES is based on Slavs, but West Slavs could probably pass for Imperials. East Slavs as Nords? Well, if you think of all the mead and drinking contestes, yeah, maybe  But otherwise they don't have much in common with Scandinavians.

And South Slavs are in no way Imperials.

Hi,

except that Rus was founded by invited Swedish vikings(variags, varangians) east slavs and scandinavians don`t have all that much in common.

Geez people, I didn't want to start a scientific discussion about real-world races here. Let's just agree that we're all red and squischy inside and probabaly related to Genghis Khan at some point.

Wood Elf. I find it'd be nice to be able to shoot a bow like a boss(assuming you have the natural abilities they have).

Even some aboriginal Australians have blonde hair and blue eyes. Although advlts with this hair colour is incredibly rare among them. Iranians also have quite a high number of blue eyed people and blonde haired children (usually darkens as they age), compared to surrounding countries I mean.

Well every human is a very distant relative. An Icelandic man will be a very, very, very, very, very distant relative of an aboriginal Australian man.

This shouldn't be just based off looks, otherwise we all look like redguard, bretons, or nords. It should be based off skillsets too. If you can swim great lengths underwater and such, doesn't that also put you near argonian? Sprinting and agility puts you near khajiit, etc.

Many of us base it of heritage and culture, not just looks
