Whom Do You Side With: Stormcloaks Or Imperials (Give Reason

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 7:17 pm

Skyrim IS THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!

However... i do not like the storyline... i understand that it is trying to be more... "bold" / "advlt" and keeps its audience confused lol?

When first starting out (i'll speak for myself) i gathered that the stormcloaks were the good guys... and the imperials were the bad guys... coz come on... im a high elf that just crossed the wrong border at the wrong time... and that female nord even says im not on the headless list... and im still to be parted with my upper most body part

(there was my first ~_~ i dont like you Imperials moment)

I have played oblivion for like 500 hours and still on mission 2 of the main storyline... coz i looted everything and put it in a huge pile in the imperial city... and i made it all neat and everything then some beggers keep walking in my pile and making a mess... so i had to kill them... ~_~ (and obviously the imperials were the good guys there)

Then when i get to whiterun... you meet battleborn and greymane... and the greymane seem like the nicer family... who are allied with teh stormcloaks... so logically... stormcloak = good imperial = jerkface

However later on... when i get to windhelm... and the first time i enter ulfrics palace... he was a real jerk... he was talking about (SPOILER STOP READING) Invading whiterun... and i was like O_O what... WHAT!!! YOU GUYS ARE MEANT TO BE THE GOOD GUYS... and you want to take over whiterun... i live there... i am Thane of whiterun... they gave me lydia ~_~ (who doesn't know how to sneak... and likes to set of boobie traps and gets in my way in caves and makes me stuck, and says the same thing ugghhh < glad i am rid of her i picked some housewife:P) and i liked the jarl of whiterun he was cool and there are the best characters in whiterun... SO I SAID NO!!! I DONT LIKE STORMCLOAKS COZ THEY'RE JERKS... their high king is greedy, selfish and power hungry

So then i picked the imperials... who... are also not good guys:( NOBODY IS GOOD RARRRR (i dont like playing as bad guy)

Which is why i don't like the thieves guild... ugghhh it made me sick... doing those missions... shaking down helpless shop keepers for money... AND MY CHARACTER IS ONE SCARY ELF... D: (and at that point... i did everything the good guy way) :(

Though for sure i pick Greymane over Battleborn... i rescued that old ladys son... and in that mission it said to find a way in the Thalmor prison... but XD... thats not how this high elf rolls... i went in the FRONT DOOR... AND KILLED EVERY THALMOR THERE WAS XD i also freed all the prisoners... but they're lazy bums:( and didnt run out:(

I side with the Empire. Both sides of this conflict have their good points and bad points, but I see the Empire as the better of two bad choices.

Not really into the whole nationalist/pro-Nord/racial aspect of the SS- I mean SC. So yep, Empire for me.

I go back and forth. I haven't choosen a side yet. I'll take up arms after the main questline. Both sides hate the Thalmor...check. Seems like the Stormcloaks a little more, although they haven't really fought them like the Empire has. As a Bosmer, I'm not a fan of the elitest Nord complex of the Stormcloaks, but I do have to give them the nod of wanting to be self governing. That's what I want for Valenwood. If I can't have that, maybe I could give that to someone else. On the other hand, I think in the end the Empire is more capable of dispatching the Thalmor in the furture...so take your pick. Idk yet. We'll have to wait and see :)

Imperials. Why? Because siding with the stormcloaks is stupid.

I side with the Empire, because they have a valid reason for drawing out the war. The Stormcloaks, while in theory have a reasoning, are a front for Ulfrics ambitions.

They're both sided with the Thalmor anyway. I went Stormcloaks but later on I began to regret it. Still wouldn't of gone with the Imperials though.

I'm not swearing allegiance to anyone. I haven't judged them on good v. evil, but on arrogance.
Don't mean to be rude, but aren't being the good guy, and joining the Thieves' Guild, somewhat incompatible. There were quite a few complaints about Oblivion, saying the Thieves weren't thieves, but Robin Hood and his nice helpful rogues, so no surprise these guys are are a lot shadier.

I was playing as a High Elf and so Ulfric was being totally racist against me... so I ended up siding with the Imperials so I could kill his ass.

The only time i side with the stormcloaks is when I'm a nord. Possibly a redguard, breton, or imperial. But never as one of the beast clases or dunmer. For those I go imperial.

Depends. I'd side with the stormcloaks when playing as a Nord, and with the imperials if playing any other races. (just for RP purposes)

I would disagree. I am 250 hours in on my character, roleplaying and no fast travel. I haven't started the civil war, gone to the top of High Hrothgar, got as far as Mzulft, or even joined the Thieves', DB or Companions, as they would not be the sort of things this character would do. Haven't come any where near to running out of stuff to do.

If you join for the quests, then some of them might not sit well with that character, but in that case joining might be something that should have been saved for another character anyway. Please don't misunderstand, I am not trying to tell you how to play, it's just my personal tastes and opinion that only doing what suits that character can be a lot more enjoyable than getting one character to do everything.

I like the way you think man/mer/woman/womer.

It owuld be very cool to make your own policies and control the populace of the city.

If you got little time you should have no problem finding quests. Just fast travelling from quest to quest to just complete them all is not what a TES game is about. It's your game and you can play as you want but a TES game is at it weakest like this. Just play and enjoy, powergaming Skyrim is not the most enjoyable way to go.

Stormcloaks, namely because I understand Ulfrics position quite fully and accept it as mostly true. The Empire is severely weak and at the beck and call of an enemy it could have easily defeated had the false Mede Emperor(s) not been so short-sighted and well stupid (That the Redguards alone (IE, no help from the rest of the Empire and with nowhere left to run) managed to fight the rest of the Dominion's army to a standstill and keep them there for 5 years (during which time they could have and most likely did reinforce their position there heavily) proves that the Empire was more than capable of continuing the fight, and without putting anymore strain on the Empire than there already would have been. Hammerfel was going to be stricken by war no matter what, and if the Legion used its remaining capable forces outside of Hammerfel to defend its broders around the Dominion (and bolstered them with fresh troops from the unaffected High Rock and Skyrim) then the Empire could have continued a war with the Dominion and not be forced into a vice grip in the form of the Concordat). But because of that we now stand at a point where the Dominion is returning back to a point where it could properly invade the Empire again and the Legion will never be able to deal with it even if they defeat the Stormcloaks. And this is mostly due to inept leadership and the continued nonalignment with Hammerfel.

Ultimately if the Stormcloaks won and Skyrim (and it should be noted that Ulfric doesn't necessarily need to become the new Emperor or even the new High-King. He isn't that wise of a man and as such would be better suited as a general more than a full on leader for everyone else) lead the rest of the Empire against the Dominion (and presuming the new leader is wise, taking on reinforcements from Hammerfel and Valenwood) then the Empire would stand an actual chance against a rebuilt Dominion. Hammerfel would be able to provide a tactical advantage (both from being more than capable fighters and from the fact that they fought the Dominion for years, and thus would have a fair grasp on how they fight) and Valenwood (the Bosmer did not join the Dominion willingly, and civil war is likely already brewing there) would be integral to attacking from within and ultimately splitting the Dominion between its capital in Alinor and its allies in the two Elsweyr kingdoms.

I went with Stormcloaks with my Nord. I can equate the current state of the Empire to the Western Roman Empire (circa 5th Century AD). The comparisons between the two are staggering.

They've become so weak that other nations can invade and sack their capital city (like what the Visigoths did to Rome in 410 AD). They've been reduced to relying on their client states to fill their ranks (much like the state of Rome's late period Legion, the Auxilia Palatina). And they've had to concede to costly concessions just to maintain peace. I can imagine what the basic Roman citizen outside of Rome felt, and so can the Nords under Imperial rule.

Otherwise I go with the Empire when I'm playing a non-Nordic character.... just so they can maintain that glimmer of hope that the Empire can and will return to it's former glory.

i side with the imperials.

my reasons are as followed Skyrim would be weak if it were by it self grant it there are battle hardened Nords but there not immortal and invincible there are power in numbers and if the high elves plan to attack Skyrim would be rather vulnerable

ulfric's methods of racism, murder, cowardice is more that of a tyrant then a king of the people

i feel i have obligations after playing previous TES games same reason i joined the blades rather then the greybeards

Neither. I have played through the mainquest with two different characters, neither of whom took sides in the civil war. I can't forget that Tullius was trying to cut my head off just because I was picking flowers in the wrong place. Ulfric is not someone I can really stomach either. So, I figure the job of the Dragonborn is to go around killing dragons and let the two sides settle their own differences. Kind of like a witcher, they try to stay neutral in people contests and just kill the monsters.
