Why Is Dawnguard DLC Coming To 360 First?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 6:57 am

If the shoe was on the other foot, it would hardly bother me at all.

I had to wait over a year to play Tribunal. Over 6 months to play Bloodmoon. 6 months to play vanilla Morrowind. Similar waits for GTA III and GTA: San Andreas - just to name a few non-Bethesda titles.

If I can survive waits like that just fine, I think people will manage with a measly 30 days. :disguise:

This. I'll never get to play Drakes Fortune, Heavy Rain, LBP, GT5, the PS3 exclusive DLC....

Have I moaned? No, I've accepted it and moved on. And thats just the PS3 exclusives....

Well what do you expect people to do for those 30 days?

Get a life or something?

I'm currently an XBox thrall but, I don't know whether I'll buy Dawnguard or not ... going to wait and see what people say after it's out.

Why Is Dawnguard DLC Coming To 360 First?

Because Xbox 360 is the main target platform for Bethesda. They've said it many times before release that it's easier to test the game on the 360 and they exclusively demoed the game on 360 before 11/11/11. From a game developer standpoint, I can understand. It's not easy to develop for the PC when you have to account for millions of different hardware configurations, overclocked processors and gpus, unstable/bad/beta drivers.

Stop whining. Remember last generation consoles, xbox, ps2, gamecube? Yeah. With those, many of the games were console exclusive, so if you could only afford one, you would be limiting yourself to only half of the great games being released. Nowadays, the vast majority of the games are multiplatform. God, this generation is so spoiled.

Who on PC or PS3 is looking forward to 30 days of spoilers by 360 owners on this forum and others?

...and all those videos on Youtube of course.

Bethesda's greed was an act of terrible indifference to many of it's fans.

That's an advantage of getting it later.

I get to hear what the popular oppinion on Dawnguard is about 30 days in advance.

If the fourms have positive feedback (which is rare) I'll absolutely buy it.

If the opinions bad I'll take a closer look and decide wether this is worth it.

If opinion is mixed I'll assume Dawnguard has met my expectations (please not even on these forums feedback on Skyrim is fairly mixed)

I'll be avoiding these forums until it releases on PS3.

Then I'll come back to see what popular opinion on the DLC is.

Microsoft paid for it.

simple as that really, and im not a diehard 360 fanatic either. i was Playstaion till PS3 came out, and never had a good enough PC to play online games.

Playstation and sony lost me to Microsoft when the PS3 released, i was in line with over $600, then when most stores only had 1 or 2 systems and were going to "raffle" them off i gave sony the finger and went and bought a brand new 360 an extra controler and gears of war.

now i have a good PC that i do play some MMO's on, but i enjoy the crap out of my 360 and microsofts service. my familly owns 5 360's between us all, AND they all work :P
Do i miss jack and Daxter because the trilogy re release was only for PS3? yes i do. do i wish i had access to PC mods? of course. if you said "hey you can have mods too just wait 30 days" i would be so happy :D

am i fine with paying for gold and getting some game content early, yes i am. but i have always been a very content person. i know there are alot of you entitled people out there and i know nothing is going to change you so. . .pound sand? or become more wealthy then microsoft. . .

I play on 360 (no hate please) I'm not going to buy the DLC day one for fear that I could find a bug that screws up my game. I always wait awhile until purchase.

Yup. Microsoft forked over a lot of money to Bethesda and Bethesda took it.

It's kind of an underhanded business tactic to pull crap like this. Personally, I think federal legislation is in order: if a game is offered on multiple platforms, then all platforms must receive all releases related to that game at the same time. Exclusivity deals and any similar deals that accomplish the same effect result in fines of up to $60 million for both parties. This includes all releases that are "late" for legitimate reasons. In other words, even if a release for one platform is late, they still must provide DLC at the same time as other consoles or face hefty fines.

Let your system compete based on the merits of your system, not because of cronyism and sweet deals.
Why is it "underhanded"?
