That doesn't include copies bought directly from Steam though, and that's a pretty huge amount.

The same reason Skyrim runs better on consoles. Bethesda decided to take the money route rather then the quality route.

That and its more money for beth to use towards future projects or dlc.

Ummm Halo, Crackdown, gears of war ( i don't like it but i understand it's a very popular game), fable 2 all great games there is definitely a contest or xbox would be wiped off the market

Hard to say. As of a few years ago, I saw estimations at about 50% of all PC sales were digital, which are not included in those numbers. That percentage has undoubtedly gone up. I've seen some estimations more recently as high as 75%. Given the game's popularity on Steam, it's almost certainly on the higher side.

That's been the case with most Bethesda developed or published games. Microsoft always grabs that exclusivity deal first chance they get.

Look on the bright side though, PC and PS3'ers.

PS3 has HANDS DOWN better exclusives. Not even a contest.

And you bastard PC players get mods.

There's always a silver lining.

Doubt it includes Steam, and tbh until Steam decide to actually let out the data that they patently have, we can only speculate.

Personally, I feel it is fairly even across all 3 platforms.

Its a nice bonus for us paying $60 a year for online while ps3 and pc do it for free (aside from regular internet costs, which xbox users also pay) Its simply a way for microsoft to bring users to their system. Its a smart move, and exactly the thing I'd expect when other companies offer me a cheaper offer.

It's my understanding that Steam doesn't release sales figures, so the above PC figure may only represent retail box sales. Digital would likely be significantly more.

It will be interesting to see how things go the next few years.

I'm moving over to the PC myself because I don't like MS nickle and dime business practices and I'm finding myself more and more attracted to PC indie games over the AAA title stuff..

If the next gen XBox does contain something that prevents people from playing used games and Sony doesn't follow along in this regard, I wouldn't be surprised if more people just turned their XBox into a paperweight and moved to another platform.

And as Beth seems to be putting all its eggs into the XBox basket, they may be in for a ... well deserved ... surprise themselves.

Maybe have to be a bit nicer to the PC folks and give them a decent UI and make games for people who want to play a half decent RPG rather than an action/hiking simulation game and who value decent gameplay and well-written quests over rushing around to grab "achievements" and being enthralled, so to speak, by flying monkey gimmick type stuff.

If that happens, I will be one of those jumping ship. I think its disgusting the way the big publishers have gone about this. They could, quite rightly, demand that they be given a cut of each resale, which is fair enough. But no, they decide they want to stamp it out, which makes life harder for the gameshop chains which are already struggling as it is. They (the publishers) get, maybe, a slight bump in profit, thousands lose their jobs. Big big booo, I for one will boycott any company that decides to follow this business practise.

If we go by the VG Chartz data, the PC has 2.2 million copies, the PS3 has 3.81 million copies and the 360 has 5.9 million copies sold. As of June 2, 2012.

But if we take the estimation of 50% that is several years old, that bumps the PC version to more than 4 million copies. That number is certainly too low, though. Like I said, I've seem suggestions that digital sales may account for as much as 75% of PC sales. If that's the case, then we're looking at as many as 8 million copies sold on the PC.

Yeah but It's annoying just as I'm sure the $50 is annoying.

I have played a halo game since Halo 3 and i played the first GoW for about 30mins before becoming bored so those games don't really matter to me now Fable 2 on the other hand is rubbish compared to TES4 or TES5.
