Why is everyone complaining about the graphics?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:28 am

Mostly this.

As I said in my previous post, Fallout 4 looks good, based on what I've seen.

If you want to run an open world game with all super high poly models and full-on 4k textures everywhere in the game world, you better have a coolant system from the year 3000. This is how house fires start.

Now if people would just stop comparing it to The Witcher 3...

Oh lord this

If I wanted to play TW3 I'd....... play TW3. Don't know why that has to even be a competition. Because they're completely different games on every front.

I suggest you watch the footage yourself. Super mutants attack the dog doing almost no damage to them instead of the guy with the giant laser gun killing everyone. Dogmeat doesn't react at all to being set on fire. Enemies just bee-line toward the player with no regard for their safety. The AI seems identical to that found in Fallout 3 with no improvements at all.

yeah i saw it myself, when they show Dogmeat set on fire he was out of combat, i dont hope they will react like real dog running around... setting a dog on fire is pretty much killing it, is a game. And the one about they focus on dogmeat and not u, is hard to script behavior normally they will charge the close threat they have in front.

Look game like DA:I that suffer from it too, u have a Dwarf getting attack on melee while ur inquisitor is bring storm on fire down, is hard to get a balance.

The graphics and animations are not on par with current games. It doesn't mean the game won't be good. True fans expect more from a developer and don't follow blindly. You should not be offended by people voicing thier own opinions. That is the biggest problem with people; they feel they should be offended by anyone who has a different mindset; it is moronic.

The game will rock so I can look past visuals; I don't think it would hurt for them to improve much more for the next TES game though.

To the OP... You played 3 and NV for 4,200 hours? I am a huge fan but.. Just wow.

Well I've been quite critical of the game and what we know thusfar, and what I saw looked incredibly slick. I'm serious. If folks are trying not to spoil themselves, I won't give anything away, but holy hell, in addition to a great looking game, the sound effects from ambient, to big things, to weapon sounds are absolutely phenomenal.

The best part? Gameplay looks really good.

Did anyone not know fairly early on that it was running almost the same engine as skyrim? So, based off of that shouldn't we have understood there were fair limitations from the jump?

I just don't see why some people were expecting an entriely new experience from something with more or less the same engine. A chick might wear a newer sixier dress but she'll probably perform just as she always did :hubbahubba:

To be fair we don't know exactly what the Attack Dog perk does yet. It could give companions (or just dogmeat) a taunt mechanic to help them hold aggro in combat to make fighting groups easier. It would explain why a super mutant would choose to attack a lowly dog. Also super mutants are usually dumb and the loud thing in front of it is an easier target than the guy way over there with the light gun. :P

I was just saying in a thread last night that was complaining about the graphics that I honestly don't see what the problem is. Both the animations and graphics look far better than they ever have, especially the animations, IMO.

I thought we would have maybe 2013 or 2014 graphics . It looks like we have 2011 graphics...

I wasn't suggesting that dogmeat immediately die when set on fire, but behaving completely normal is a bit hilarious.

I'm sure it's hard to make enemies attack the enemy that's doing the most damage to it. I guess a lot of us are just expecting too much.

What an intelligent statement during a valid discussion!

There are 3 camps of people on the issue:

People who worship the every move of BGS and don't care and will defend them no matter what even if graphics are outdated.

People who are huge fans like myself who love Bethesda games but want them to upgrade and have valid criticisms of the visuals and especially jarring animations.

People who hate Bethesda and just want to troll and complain about everything no matter what.

Don't dismiss the middle group...

I would say probably in the first group but not entirely. Maybe between the first and middle. Mediocrity is fine in some cases but a true fan always expects a lot out of something.

I am a Texans fan.. They are having a horrible year in the NFL. As a true fan I will support them but expect them to be accountable and play at a higher level. I am not just fine with them having a terrible record.

And the fourth group, those who thinks it fine anyway...
To say I'm not a "true fan" is just down right wrong.

Yeah, if you like it then more power to you!

I just hate when people act like people can't disagree and still be fans.

I interpretted this as "I made up these three types of people that I see"

FO3 and NV were by no means groundbreaking ever and still to this day remain my most played games of all time. I just picked up an Xbox One for FO4 and I find myself bored with most of the "pretty" games and turn on my 360 to play NV. It really doesn't have to be "Bethesda could do anything and I'll love them". A lot of us will play the game regardless of graphics, since that's what we did the past two games anyway. They look better than NV (I didn't play skyrim) so I am content. I don't care if XXXXX game has better graphics. It clearly doesn't appeal to me as much as a Fallout game or I'd just be playing that instead.

That's fair. Of course you are a fan and I never said you weren't. Some people don't care if Bethesda tries to make visual leaps. All I am saying is fans also want accountability and striving for the top. Sorry if my wording was wrong...I didn't mean to imply that.

I hear you OP, but don't worry. The only ones complaining about graphics are the gamers that think Call of Duty is the apex of video game art and sophistication.
