Actually a lot of people choose to play as a Nord as their first race. Just look at the community poll over 27.71% of players choose Nord over all the other races.

I don't hate the Nords, infact my first character was a Nord.

Conan? Why not Thor from the old Norse myths?

I've always played a Nord in TES. You might be speaking of those stupid WW II threads with the Stormcloaks and the Empire, some Thalmor aswell.

guys, guys. Thor and Conan are pretty much the same person. ok not really but cmon. theyre both barbarians, they both have a history of general bad-assery, and they are both all about killing. just saying. only difference is, thor has a beard.

So that means that approximately 72.29% of the population chose not to play as a Nord. Myself included. I personally have hated them since Morrowind. As many naked Nords as I kept running into in that game made me seriously doubt their intelligence. I mean really, how hard is it to keep your pants on?

No they're not the same.]

Conan=barbarian

Thor=Odin's son and protector of mankind that defeated Rognorak, a giant demonic snake, and then became a Norse-hero-god.

I'm currently playing a Nord based on Wulfgar from Salvatore's novels. Been fun so far, I don't need to worry about increasing or managing Magicka at all. I still consider my Imperial Paladin my favorite and my main.

I generally don't play any of the human races very often. I also usually favor magic using races, so when I do play a human, it will likely be a breton.

And I don't know that people hate Nords. As somebody else said, you might be getting that impression from what some are saying in debates about the Civil War, but if 27% of people played Nords as their first character, Nords are pretty disproportionately popular amongst players.

Nords are stupid and I hate them. The only one I even remotely liked was Nels the Naughty. In Oblivion, quite a few Nords were the jolly ol' drunkards, but in Skyrim they really turn me off because they are all "GRRR IM A MARCUS FENIX IMITATOR IMMA CRUSH YOUR HEAD LIKE A WALNUT GRRR HONOR,MEAD GRRR IM TOUGH MAGIC SUX ITS THE DEVIL GRAAAAAAAH"

They can all die in a whole for all I care.

i also got a nord, but as i picked my main i picked the most interesting race and that were the argonians. i didn't think about racials or other things. just the looks and nords are boring as hell. normal humans.

Now that I think about it, I've never played as a Nord in any of the Elder Scrolls games. Truth be told, I can only remember making one human character (a Breton in Oblivion) and he was rather short lived. For some reason I prefer either Khajiit or Aldmeri/Dunmer.

Maybe some people don't play them because they don't go for the only reason why majority do and that is because a nord was used to advertise the game. Of course same applies to previous titles.

I don't, but my current character does because he's a Dark Elf whose family were killed by them. My first character was a Nord and he loved em, my second was a High Elf who saw them as a means to an end.
