I know ash piles are getting cleaned up in patch 1.4. I have summon spectral assassin piles everywhere. Are ghostly remains and ash piles the same thing?

Have two to be filed under 'graphics', one 'world' problem and one 'player' problem:

-1- Lighting. Even when the game is working properly, things in shadows tend to be a bit too dark, but several hours into my game (two different characters now) the contrast increases to the point that everything in shadow is nearly jet black, even in the middle of the day. NPCs facing me are just silhouettes, even when they're *not* in shadow. Since it's a gradual change, it obviously isn't my TV or the brightness setting.

-2- Character shrinkage in third person. My character is suddenly shorter than every NPC, including those of the same race and gender. This is minor, but has been reported by others with entirely different races (though it isn't an issue in first person).

Dark Brotherhood - The Cure for Madness: Game freezes when trying to enter the Dark Brotherhood Pinewood Sanctuary after (almost) completing "The Cure for Madness". I left the Dawnstar Sanctuary without killing Cicero and when I now try to enter the Pinewood Sanctuary the loading screen appears and the game freezes. This happens every time I try to enter. Until the "The Cure for Madness" quest everything was alright.

I have my fingers crossed 1.4 will properly remove them. It causes major issues for my necomancer.

Quest : the skooma trade

I had already cleared craiglane cavern before getting the quest, and it will not update that the cavern has been cleared again.

Does any one know if this is getting fixed in 1.4.

also the orc hold by the rift camp, everyone is stuck inside the main long house, and will not go outside so I can get the quests.

Quest: Retrieve Arondil's Journals
Type: Miscellaneous

When turning in the 4 journals you must collect for Arondil he thanks you and says he's giving you gold, but no gold is received and the journals are not removed from your inventory.

Type: Miscellaneous

Quest received from inn keeper in Riften. I have already been here and killed all the bandits for another quest and they do not respawn, so I cannot complete this quest.

Quest: Kill the giant located at Tumble Arch Pass
Type: Miscellaneous

After killing the giant and returning to the Jarl of Dawnstar, the Jarl acknowledges your killing of the troll and says he is giving you a reward. No reward is actually given and the quest remains in the miscellaneous quest log.

even though i have no bounty in any of the holds, i cant fast travel, because "guards are pursiuing me". i have had some bountrys, but payed them of, and in none of the holds are there guards pursiuing me... please look into it

I'm not sure of the full extent of this bug yet (ex. does it happen with other races?), but for male Bretons and Imperials, Vampirism doesn't make the character pale as it should, but rather darkens their skin.

NPCs will talk about how the character has skin that is "pale as snow" and yet their skin is actually darker then before they became a vampire. :dry:

EDIT: So I've done a little more reading and it appears that this issue is indeed contained to the male Bretons and Imperials. Female humans have an entirely different set of issues related to the change in appearance when becoming a vampire, which I won't get into because I don't have any firsthand expierience. If Bethesda ever decideds to address issues with vampirism in a future patch, please check every race and gender, because their seem to be slight problems with most of them.

tl;dr Male Breton and Imperial vampires turn dark/tan/orange instead of pale, which I'm pretty sure is the opposite of what was intended.

i'm 2/3 of the way towards lvl 50. no matter what i do, no matter where i go as soon as i get almost to lvl 50, the game will freeze on the next load screen, i've been stuck in jorvassker(sp?) in whiterun, in breezehome in whiterun, in warmaidens...etc etc

I'm stuck at the Alduin's Wall bug where Delphine and Esbern don't move past the first puzzle if it's been solved already. Frustrating as hell considering I can't complete the main game until they decide to patch it...if they do.

-During "Throat of the World", after I demonstrated the Fire Breath shout to Paarthurnax I initiated a conversation with him to continue the dialogue, but during said conversation he started flying upward while rotating in a circle. He kept on spinning upward up until I can no longer hear him but the dialogue still continues. After that, he never moved to the nearby word wall, he just kept on spinning upward.

-Just a minor one, but can be a bit distracting at times. Guards going to train on dummies would pull out their swords, and THEN walk to the dummy to start training. This can lead to situations where guards would unsheath their swords for no apparent reason, leading me to believe that a fight just broke out or a dragon has attacked the place, but then they would slowly walk out into the next couple of rooms, head to the training area where the dummy is, and THEN start swinging.

-Some items cannot be picked up even if I hover the crosshair over it. To me, this usually happens with pelts on counters/shelves/tables.

-When picking up items, some objects near the picked item disappear visually, but they can still be picked up. Once the invisible object is picked up, the other items nearby will then reappear.

-I dunno if this is an audio bug but... is it just me, or are the bears excessively loud? Even if I turn the volume down, they're still freaking loud! They're becoming more of a threat to the silence than survival.

I've run into an additional glitch at the Diamond Claw gate in Skuldafn...
  • I initially had the problem where the rings wouldn't turn at all, but leaving the Temple area and coming back in seemed to fix that. (Not going all the way outside Skuldafn, but just back far enough in the dungeon, through the double-wooden door, that it has to reload.)
  • Now I can _turn_ the rings, but no combination will actually open the door and let me through. Not the "correct" combination, or any other. (I've systematically tried every combination. More than once.)
From searching online, this is definitely a glitch that other people have run into, as well. Various wikis think that you can "reset" the rings, by setting them all to "Dragon", trying the key, and using the correct combo, but that doesn't work for me.

At Shearpoint, I kill the dragon and the Dragon Priest, walk up to the world wall, I hear the chanting but see no words or animation.... I've reloaded saves and still no words. Dunno what to do... I got this location from High Hrothgar so I can't go looking for the next in his quest until I can get this one... plz help!

Went to Autumnwatch to meet the blades, dragon was really low health, flew over the mountain, never came back. Quest updated, went back to Esbern, quest completed. Ages later, found the ruins behind the wall, dead dragon there, assume it was killed by the frost trolls. Absorbed the soul, but next time I went to Esbern, got 'kill the dragon at Autumnwatch, and 'return to Esbern', but dragon does not respawn, so two entries stuck in log.

I just ran into a reported bug..yesterday ..."Supply and Demand" quest from riften...if you have previously cleared http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Cragslane_Cavern ..the quest will be impossible to complete and this quest was given by black miar jarl of riften so in another words i wont be able to become thane of riftenn..as per UESP wiki there is a walkaround since you need to kill 7 bandids to trigger the quest completed prompt but if you cleared the cave before there are only three there and then you will need to come back two more times and wait for the cave to reset.....then here is my question how long do i need to wait ingame time for cavern to reset ???? any feedback ill have to come back here two more times in order to kill 7 dudes ..jesus this are the kind of things that turn me off...

yazman, I ran into the same problem. Looked it up. You have to wait about a month (In game time) before the cavern will reset. If it doesn't spawn enough enemies that time around...wait another in game month.

It's ridiculous that bugs like this and the Alduin's Wall one even exist. It's like we've been penalized for exploring the game.

This is just annoying ill just keep playing and whenever i remebr ill get back there ...notice that one month in game its a long time but as you said this is the price we have to pay for exploring the game......

ive bought the house in winndhelm and on x-box all of the weapon display things dont work :swear: . do you have to buy everything or is this a glitch and if it is a glitch, if bethesda read this can you lease fix this on x-box thank you :biggrin: :biggrin: :biggrin: :banana: .

I must be the luckiest bugger the world has ever seen because I have not run into any of these bugs, quest or otherwise. I don't know what i'm doing right or wrong but i've dodged them all, even the infamous Forsworn Conspiracy and Blood on Ice bugfests. I have managed to complete the DB, Companions and College quests untroubled, and I'm on the penultimate Thieves guild mission(darkness returns). I am also on The Fallen questline in the MQ and I haven't started the Civil War yet. I have no idea whether this info will help people or whether i'm one in a million.

Just to say, I am playing on a completly unpatched game, no release day patch on any other afterwards, maybe this has something to do with it :confused:

My partner encountered a bug with Brynjolf, during the quest A Cornered Rat where the Thalmor attack in the Ragged Flagon, Brynjolf was knocked out and ever since then he will not continue on with the quest Taking Care of Buissness~ Everytime you try to talk to him he just says 'Hmm?' 'Huh?' ect... Now he cannot progress through the Thieves Guild.

The misc quest from Urag from the College of Winterhold, where he tells you to get the book Souls, Black and White is bugged, if you got the book prior to meeting him and getting this quest, it will tell you that you still need the book, even though you have it, even going back to where you got the book does not help, the marker tells you to get the book from where you picked it up, yet it isnt in the chest since you have it, and trying to talk to him about it will not bring up the option, leaving you stuck with the book and unable to complete the quest.

  • NPC heights have changed. I just finished the Dark Brotherhood quests and have noticed that NPCs have either shrunk or grown.. For example, Cicero is no longer short and High Elves have shrunk..

i own Breezehome in Whiterun on two files, and neither of them allow me to use the weapon racks, display cases (besides dagger display cases) or shield plaques, i also bought Hjerim in Windhelm to no avail, and the only working weapon rack i have found thus far is in the Dawnstar Sanctuary for the Dark Brotherhood.
