Xbox 360 Complete Bug/Glitch List

Post » Sat Feb 26, 2011 1:20 am

I'm pretty sure this is a bug but if you get addicted to ant nectar you can't remove the addiction. i don't know if its will all chems but i know for sure its with ant nectar.

I've tried at tons of different doctors and if you want to test it for yourself their are a bunch of ants just north of the SW NCR Mojave outpost.(Save before doing so because the side effect is -2 strength.)

Hacking terminals - I think this may be down to me having remapped my controls. I have to click B to hack a terminal and when I do, the terminal screen will not load up unless I hold B down continuously. If I let go of B the terminal screen disappears and all I can see is a blurred background until I press B again to exit the view. It took me a while to figure this out, but since I have, I can repeat it every time - it comes down to needing to hold B rather than just pressing B to get into the terminal. It's not a gamebreaker once you know how to get around it, but it is annoying.

I get the blank screen with the terminals only. (Just an FYI for devs)

EDIT: Ok almost as soon as I typed it I found a work around by accident. You have to hold down your action/activate button the entire time while using a terminal to see the data on it. My controls are custom set to that as the B button.

That's two of us then :foodndrink:

I'll list bugs that I don't believe have been mentioned (in context sometimes).

Right, I've had dozens of enemies (when I was always with a companion (Boone, Lily) I think) with no health bar and yet they had health.

I've had 3 freezes, the most memorable being in Novac just after recruiting Boone. I exited the Dino Gift Shop and the screen went black and the game froze (this corrupted my Autosave file).

Whilst the Player Character arms raising up has been mentioned, they also disappear on mine (rarely, but often enough to remember).

Once, just after exiting the Dino Toy Shop (Novac) again, I pressed B to view my Pip Boy and the screen was whited out. I resolved it by simply turning my Pip Boy light on then off again (and no, it wasn't on in the first place).

After playing for 5 - 8 hours straight (clocked over 40 hours since Friday) the framerate starts to stagger and the loading times end up being up to 3 times longer (no joke, 90 solid, real seconds for a few). These issues always result in a crash/freeze later on. Best to resolve by simply turning the game off for 15 minutes.

I purchased some cards from a travelling merchant (in Novac again. What can I say? I'm a hoarder. =P) and it's insta-froze my game. Can't remember which cards they were though.

I've fallen through a cliffside and got stuck inside a rock (near the stone tablet/sign for Red Rock Canyon).

I've had plenty of other glitches/bugs, but these are the ones I haven't seen mentioned in the first post.

I'll check back in 24 hours (if I don't burn myself out) if you need to ask me any specifics. Hope this helps.

There's tearing. It's most noticeable in the opening movie where Benny shoots you. I'm using an HDTV with HDMI on the new Slim 360.

Tearing is not ideal. At all.

Quote: When playing Caravan raising my bet doesn't seem to increase their bet. If I put in all my caps and win.. I'll only win what they originally bet.. If I lose, I lose all my caps.

That happens to me too, but I assumed it was because the NPC had no more money to bet, and I was just being allowed to wage more than the NPC. Of course, now that I think about it, it does seem a little buggy. If that's the case, I should have an option to remove some of what I've bet to match, but I can't...

Added the cliffside bug as just a general glitch cause there's quite a few areas along mountainsides where this can happen. Also added the extended play slowing the game/loading times. Pip-boy light problem too.

This has to do with the Xbox's hardware not being able to process everything but if they had taken more time on it they definately could of made it smoother.

If you watch closely their bet does increase a little, usually like 20-50 caps but there's a hard % of their money they wont go past so I agree it needs changed, but im not entirely sure its a bug.

Yep, same bug for me I mentioned in another posted (I hadn't previously seen it mentioned before I posted). It's a merchant in Novac, and it seems to be when I buy playing cards. I must have had to power off my XBox about 14 times last night just trying to figure out what I was buying that caused it to freeze. Oddly enough, the merchant's inventory changed quite a bit each time I'd re-load from the same save. :(

Another great glitch...
After the game constantly freezing when I entered The Strip because I killed that guy and took his hat for a quest, the game is freezing again when I enter The Strip... This time because I bought books :\
There is a vendor in Crimson Caravan who you can buy 2 quest related books from: 'Tiny, Tiny Babies: All You Need to Know About Pediatric Medicine' & 'Stress and the Modern Refugee: A Primer'
These 2 books are needed to complete a quest in Bittersprings. Now I just read that if you buy these 2 books, the game will (for reasons unknown) freeze.
Well guess what, they were right. Even though I gave these 2 books to the medic at Bittersprings, the game keeps on freezing when I try to enter The Strip.
So the actual 'solution' is to steal the books from the vendor, and not buying them. But I only read this after I bought it, because of the game constantly freezing again.

Is there anyone else who has this problem, and has a possible work-around?
Because even if Bethesda releases a patch, it doesn't patch sh*t. I had to delete the patch because the game crashed even more after the patch

Double post, but I have another problem

I too have the black screen of death when I enter The Strip, but I can't fix it with the hat...
I put the hat on the dead guy his body (worked a few times, but then started freezing again), and am wearing a spare hat myself but the hat trick doesn't work any longer.

Any suggestions on what to do when every time I try to go into the strip from the north gate I end up with the black screen of death and the autosave file is corrupt? I have tried loading from the last saved file and going by fast travel and walking to it and every time I go through the door, my game corrupts the file and I have to start from the last manual saved position. I was so upset last night having spent over 25 hours on the game sine Tuesday and losing a level to the corrupt autosave that I just shut the game off. However, I really don't want to start all over again so if there are suggestions, I'm all ears. I have 2 quests that require me to go into the Strip and I have not tried making on of those a quest to see if I can get inside that way, but my guess is no.

I had the same issue. I tried buying different things multiple times and always had a freeze. I finally decided to stop buying from her all together. At least this was easier to deal with than the Nipton VATS issue I had after the update.

I was playing yesterday, was using the Incinerator against a giant radscorpion and I couldnt see its HP after depleting about 25% of its HP. Basically I could see the long red line, but could't see the HP tick and I had to keep going into VATS to see its health. -.-

After reading about some of these glitches, I think it would nice if this thread was stickied, but also if there was a thread warning us what we should avoid for now. I have had some freezing and minor glitches, but am almost afraid to continue. I heard several things about "come fly with me" and the strip that I have been ignoring both. I mean jeez, I buy a game called New Vegas and I'm avoiding the strip.. incredible.

So I went to the other location for the faction I wrote about earlier, and turns out it's just a locked shack that requires a key.

So, it looks like until the game's patched I can't meet this faction and therefore cannot finish this quest (which may or may not have end-game implications, I don't know yet). As a reminder, the game freezes for me everytime I talk to this faction at their Hidden Valley bunker. It's a very frustrating bug

EDIT: Ok, so I'm not completely sure what just happened. After exploring the shack, I went back to Hidden Valley for some reason and tried to meet with them again. This time, instead of pressing A to skip through the conversation, I let the person finish speaking and...it didn't freeze. The only thing I did different was not skip the conversation, so if anyone runs into the same situation DO NOT skip the conversation.

Nobody's mentioned the 'Debt collector' bugs: where if you choose to kill Caleb it will crash your game if you try to enter the strip, as well as if you try to sleep in your bed that they give you at the end of the quest it will crash if you try to leave the room.

I went to buy something at the 188 and it froze and I had recently restarted the xbox.
I can't scan all of these bugs but the one for Joanna called Love or something I can't find the guy in vault 21 to talk to . It's like he is in a wall or he's upstairs but I can't find away to him, lol
Not sure if it's a bug or user error on this one.

The first patch removed the option to send followers to the lucky 38 when fired. Was that addressed or reported as a bug ? I have for days deleted the patch to send them back to the room vs them going to their default locations. It was fine until they patched it. My guess is someone found a way to get all of them in the party using that option so they removed it in the patch.

Small glitch, nothing really serious but still it's kinda annoying

Sometimes when you enter VATS, the enemy health bar is suddenly empty as if the enemy is dead
The enemy health however keeps reducing, so the enemy will die nevertheless, you just can't see how many health is left because the bar is empty

Ahhh maybe that's what it was. Earlier in this thread I mentioned I had my game freeze and saves corrupted while in the Atomic Wrangler, but was unsure why. Looking back, I had killed Caleb a few minutes before. I was actually there trying to close out another quest involving James, who was sleeping unfortunately.

I just ran into that fake stairs in the tunnel by the BoS safehouse bug. I thought it might just be my game freaking out but turns out others have had it too, kind of glad it's not just me because that means that they will actually have to look into it/fix it (hopefully!). Weird thing is, I have been playign through the game while in party chat with 2 of my friends who are also playing this game at the same time, me and friend A(just for sake of simplicity) have only experienced some of the minor minor bugs like the players arms randomly going up the screen, or hearing our male characters sound like female voices when they take damage (personally I found it a little funny) and on occasion see an enemy fall through the floor. So our experience has been pretty ok with Fallout: New Vegas... But friend B... man... he has had just about every bug/glitch on that list happen to him. Really svcks, cause he likes the game, until it decides to crap on his chest. Really hope bethesda/obsidian can get their act together and fix this otherwise fun gun.

This may have already been posted.. So, my apologies if it has.

There's a seemingly occasional bug, where, when I go to trade with a traveling merchant, the game just freezes.

Also. This isn't a bug so much as it is common sense. INSTALL YOUR GAME TO THE HARD DRIVE AND WIPE YOUR CACHE.
The game will run 100x more smoothly and load times will plummet. Again... Not so much a bug as it is common sense but, I feel that this is up there with the rest of the issues.

Before Installing & clearing the cache on my HD, I was having load times of up to 3 minutes. Sometimes nearly resulting in a freeze..

Save often...

Definitely clear the Cache on your Hard Drive. Go to Memory in your System from the dashboard. Go to memory options, and, Clear Cache.

Sorry if I repeat anything. Mostly I've just had the regular stuff but the one at the bottom really annoyed me.

Gotten stuck in rocks a few times
Freezes once in awhile
Freezes when I barter with Old Lady Gibson
Random, sometimes invisible animals attacking my followers when we come out of the back door at HELIOS
My guns/fists randomly coming out and shooting/punching people when my finger is not even on the trigger

Reputation with NCR, Great Khans, and Powder Gangers reset to Neutral after 20 hrs of gameplay. Also, they disappeared from my Pip-boy's reputation tracker. I wasn't wearing a faction uniform, I hadn't completed any new quests. I shut the game off at night and the next morning I reloaded to find my reputation changed.

This isn't so much a bug but something that should be changed. If you opt to go with Yes Man you should be able to place Snow Globes yourself in the penthouse... currently you can't and it irritates the hell out of me to have an incomplete set when I have them all :( :(
