The XBOX console after ONE won't even be game play compatible. Games just get in the way of all the emotionally engaging entertainment Micorsoft wants it's customers to experience. You heard it here first folks. LOL

Whatever they do, be it Microsoft, Sony, or game developer - I'm out where the subscription fee begins. Only so much discretionary spending to go around. So as long as there is no monthly or annual fees involved with using the console or playing a game I'll be ok when upgrade time approaches - some 5 or 10 years from now when the new consoles aren't so new anymore. lol I just bought my first Xbox this last October. Black Friday sale!
Oh, And none of that svcking 300 watts stuff that the original Xbox and PS3 did. Holy electric bill, Batman! People would actually run that and their tv at the same time just to watch tv, a movie, browse the internet, or listen to music? Ouch! The 80 watts mine drinks is bad enough that I would never use it for anything but gaming.
I like how all the speculated names were actually pretty good, this is so much worse than it could have been. Such names that were speculated are Durango and Infinity, which were far better than One. My only thought for making such a name would be its cheaper, as in saving ink. Both 360 and ONE are 3 characters, while the others are 7+.
Explain to me how the Xbox One having all of that TV stuff magically makes it incapable of supporting "core" games? Because that seems to be the opinion a lot of people here seem to have.
Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox ONE . . . interesting numbering scheme. Next up, Xbox ONE 362?
Ink? LOL
I think One is pretty good. Sounds like won.
The product people want is a system that plays games and can be used as a general hub for interaction with the Community. The 2nd part has been a new thing in the last few years or so but its always been about the product and the games. I saw Sony give a lot of passion towards making the game experience better while I look at Microsoft and just seem to be adding things people don't exactly want or need.
Well---looks like I'll be keeping my 360 and investing in a PS3 for my Blu-Ray needs. I'm not buying any Nintendo products because of their stealing money from people on YouTube who journalize their products in their videos, Microsoft's new Xbox is a no go and the same with the PS4. The good thing that's comming out of this is that I'm not wasting any money on next gen systems.
One of the star wars movies did it too, so I don't see why not. Its kinda ridiculous but it does save some money. Microsoft seems pretty greedy as well and I don't think they want to spend anymore money then they have to or have been.
Mentok called it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQjVcXqhyLg. I feel happy. I think it's not a big surprise that a lot of people are not happy.
no matter how bad something is there will always be someone who'll buy it I'll probably look into buying a ps4 or upgrading my computer
lol this is so awesome
I don't want TELEVISION on my GAMING machine!!! (but I'll surf the internet, stream video, watch advlt content, work, and chat... on the same computer I use to play my modded GameOfChoiceCuzItsBetterOnPC)
Just one of many lulz to be had in threads like these
This thread is no fun, people are almost unanimous in how much it svcks. *sigh*
I'm sure you're familiar with the phrase "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics". Raw transistor count is a good indicator of processing power, however, it's been split across 8 cores (which makes it much harder to use in video games, which have many aspects not easily split) as well as for both the CPU and GPU. So you can't really judge how good it'll be from that.
Raw RAM amount means nothing without knowing both what kind of RAM as well as chipset layout and access design.
Finally, as to backwards compatibility: We already know with 100% certainty that it'll be software emulation at best if it's true they moved to x86. The 360 used PowerPC-based architecture, so any backwards compatibility will have to be software-based (honestly, I think this was a major factor in choosing x86: it's an excuse to not deliver backwards compatibility)
Why does nobody complain that you can't play used games on Steam? It's the same deal and it's been going on for years...
If you watched the reveal, it's quite clear that the name is an extension of their marketing strategy for this generation, "Xbox All in One Entertainment".
If you guys are going to hate on Microsoft, at least do it in a sensible manner.
Raised this several times. The response, "It's different".
It's completely different from having a real CD.
Yet, they are currently in a court case in the UK. If they lose it means people will have to be able to sell their licenses. Surprise surprise Steam market shows up. I suspect we will see a move to a market where people can sell their games they don't want, thank god. It will mean an end to those crazy sales though since this would undercut their profits too much to buy them on sales and sell for slightly more after the sale. Also I do complain about it, I wish I could get some of my worst games of of my account to never see them again.
I almost want to feel smug to all the people who where wanting the next gen sysyems and saying how out dated the 360 and PS3 where (again ALMOST).
I just want to play games. Probably going to get the console when the next halo comes out to it.
Its called rental. It affects those who rent.
Probably why EA got rid of their fee
uh its called Soc architecture it uses less electricity
