ROAD RASH 3 for the Sega Genesis!!

Forgive me, I can't help but get overly excited even by the mention of that hallowed game...it will forever be my all-time favorite video game.

Mirror's Edge, GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, BioShock, Just Cause 2. There are more but I'm too lazy to think of them right now.

Mirror's Edge made me feel seasick. I liked Red Dead though, even if it was ridiculously long.

Jak and Daxter

Yes then Talos! The Jak and Daxter series are my favourite games ever. Jak II has to be my favourite out of the set, closely followed by Jak 3. I played them completely out of order, but I love love love them. Makes me want to get my ps2 out of it's box again.

Eh, I would consider it an RPG due to the looting. grinding, farming, and skill trees. So far there have been 3 or so "RPS" games, and I don't consider that amount enough to call it a new genre. But I replaced it on my list with Viewtiful Joe, so it's all good.

They are RPG's, specifically the Shooter subtype of RPG's...

RPG is a pretty large genre with many sub genres

Final Fantasy series is Turn Based RPG
Skyrim is Adventure RPG
Fable/Kingdoms of Amalur are Action RPG
Borderlands is this new FPS subgenre, that I THINK Dead Island also fits into even though it's more melee than shooting (but only due to ammo limitations)

Just like FPS has subgenres of
Military Tactical Action (BF/COD)
Military Sim (Arma)
SP Adventure (Bioshock, Rage)
Co-Op (Syndicate)
Classic (CS, Unreal, etc)

sometimes a game kinda fits into 2 subgenres as devs try to innovate how they can by blending different elements together in new ways....

If you were to fully classify it it would be a "First Person Shooter Action Role Playing Game"... the action denominator because as as far as RPG's go, it more closely resembles Diablo than more "pure" RPG's

Really... genre definitions are just to make it easy to convey broad concepts about a games categorization quickly and easily to each other

Since when is ridiculously long a criticism for a game?

There are a lot of games that overstay their welcome. These are usually the games whose mechanics aren't meaty enough to keep you engaged for the entire length. DE:HR comes to mind, as a recent example.

My favorite non-RPGs are:

1. Red Faction
2. Red Dead Redemption
3. L.A. Noire
4. COD: MW3
5. Assassins Creed: Brotherhood
6. Assassins Creed: Revelations
7. Half-life 2
8. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
9. Doom
10. Doom 3

Edit: oh yeah, I don't wanna leave out the Twisted Metal series as well as the Metal Gear Solid series.

Yah, I loved RDR... but ended up getting bored and dropping it about 80-90% through the campaign :P

I was actually starting to get bored sometime halfway through Mexico missions... I just lost interest after going back up to texas and the final run of missions.

I love Medieval 2 I guess, it doesn't do any one thing perfectly but it doesn't have too many weaknesses. Empire has the best diplomacy, Rome has the most unti variety and Shogun 2 has the prettiest graphics, Medieval is a compromise between them all. I was going to say Dungeons of Dredmor is my most beloved video game but its technically an RPG. I just can't help it, RPGs are so good.

Age of Empires II: The Age of KIngs. Favorite game of all time, always has been, always will be.

Perhaps some of us should get organized with Game Ranger accounts and play some Heroes of Might and Magic 3 + Age of Empires 2 from time to time :P it could be fun.

We managed it once before, way back when. I remember TheWhaleHunter or whatever his name is was pretty good. Yacoby was a beast. I was a right bastard that always ended up on the bad end of a 3v1.

Last time I tried to get multiplayer working it, well, didn't work.

Edit: I wonder if anybody still has all of our recorded games from then...

I might get a lot of hate for half of this list, but alright. (Yes, the games that start with Call, and end with Duty)
Favorite non-RPG games:
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: World at War (mostly zombies)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (k then.......)
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Battlefield 3
Halo 3
Halo Reach
Gears of War 3
I have played many other games that I like, but they're not my "most beloved" games.
Yes, my whole list is shooters.

This is hate. Feel it!

But no, seriously. TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, Metro 2033, BioShock, Far Cry 2, Saints Row 2, Rainbow Six; Vegas 2 and Perfect Dark. Think that's about it.

This. I found myself getting bored with it, which was a shame. In the end I was just wondering when the next section would open up or whom I'd have to help next, and rushing through it, rather than appreciating the beauty of the game.

But it's so beautiful, and with such a great soundtrack

Mirror's Edge did look great, but I think it was the playing perspective that made me feel sick. All that free-running in first person made my head spin.
