Zenimax or Bethesda? [merged similar topics]

Todd and other Bethesda lore guys are known to have dropped in and given them help in making the game.

So we can expect it to not crate some massive lore violations or anything.

Well or so we hope. Todd's done some Lore 180's himself.

I hope that some of the guys at Zenimax are as dedicated to the lore as some of the people in these forums. Would give a lot of people a great sigh of relief

They always provide a reasonable, and quite good, explanation for the lore changes.

they have already established that 95% of what we read in books, or are told in-game, is wrong due to bias. Nothing we have been told should be really treated as fact.

This forum is completely cluttered with repeat topics. It's getting out of hand. I wish they would clean it up a bit better for the people who are genuinely excited for this.

Yeah, cause currently it seems that roughly ~90% are worried about the product or its features, and really do not like what they see. You sir, are currently the part of the minority here.

Well I was talking about the whole Cyrodiil was a jungle thing and Tiber Septim supposedly made it better. CHIM CHIM Churee!!! Kind of hard to lie about a place being a jungle. That was a cheap explanation that Todd used to make a more familiar landscape for people to enjoy in Oblivion.

Actually it was Kirkbride who made p the CHIM thing as i recall.

Also CHIM had been established in Morrowind to be able to do odder things.

Perhaps it is because such individuals are in the vast, vast minority that it looks so cluttered from your angle, good sir or madam.

what?

The point that they used a previously established power to do something that they already established it could do to make Oblivion better?

devs using lore to make the game more fun? someone call the police!

All of my wat? No, the point that Todd isn't very good at lore. He loses title of lore butcher to this TES:O team, though.

Yes because changing lore with reasonable explanation is being bad at lore?

the funniest thing is that that explanation is full of [censored]. It was a cop out then and it's now officially going to be a lore violation when it comes out. Cyrodiil is not going to be a jungle in this MMO. The are basically saying they are stripping oblivions landscape and using that. This takes place prior to Tiber Septim. So it must be a jungle empire right now right? The Lore makes it perfectly clear that Tibers CHIM powers are what changed the jungles to thin medieval forests.

How do you know what Cyrodill is going to be? They haven't said anything besides they copied the basic geography, and thats so vague it could mean many things.

Think about it. Do you think they want to confuse people who played Oblivion by presenting something alien and different? Please. Cyrodiil is basically going to look like it did in Oblivion. I truly doubt they would want to explain lore intricacies to the regular player. Most people would just be like wtf?

Think about it. Do you think most people are so silly as to not expect the landscape to be different 1000 years in the past? Please.

And even if it is like it was in Oblivion, MK, or Todd, or someone, else will create another reasonable pollination as to why is is that way.

The great thing about the ES series is that it is built on top of Deus Ex Machina devices like Numidium and CHIM that can alter the world in a instant.

We already have
-Time travler's
-Space ships
-Moon colonies
-People being born out of the earth itself
-its been hinted that Atmora doesn't actually exist but is insted a metaphor for the past Kalpa and that the Nord's lack of a creation myth is because they weren't created in this universe but sailed over from the past one.
-All versions of the races gods exist, are the same being, but can plot against each other.
-Numidium has been siegeing Alinor since the first Era even though it didn't start the siege until the late second.

LOL. Is funny to see all these threads merge like this because it gives a perfect look at the insanity of all the fears.

To clarify, Bethesda Game Studios, Zenimax Online Studios, Arkane Studios, id Software and Tango Gameworks are all wholly owned subsidiaries of Zenimax Media, Inc., which publishes through Bethesda Softworks.

Each of these studios has their own independent culture and vision, but they are part of the same family. ZOS is a relatively new studio and this is their first game, so they don't have a historical track record of previous games to compare with. However, we know that the head of ZOS, Matt Firor, was previously responsible for producing Dark Age of Camelot.

Pretty close. ZeniMax is also the parent company for MachineGames based in Sweden. No news to share on what they're working, but like the other development teams, their games will be published by Bethesda Softworks.

As for ZeniMax Online Studios, they were founded by in 2007 and The Elder Scrolls Online is their first project.

Cool. I can't wait what Zenimax Online Studios does. If one looks back at the history of developers in the industry, more often than naught, the FIRST project is usually the best. Not surprising because if you're going to make a good impression it's logical to give all you've got and, in business, if you don't, is probable it will be your last.

While I'm somewhat interested in this MMO based on the Elder Scrolls, I really do hope that Bethesda hasn't decided it won't be making traditional singleplayer games anymore.

I've NEVER liked the concept of multiplayer games, especially MMO games. I consider games a form of escapism, last thing I need in my game is other people.
The story and sense of being a hero will NEVER be as good in an MMO as it would in a dedicated singleplayer game.

I am planning on checking this game out simply because it's an Elder Scrolls game, but please Bethesda, don't let this be the end of TES singleplayer games :-(

Hopefully we'll soon get an official answer from Bethesda to this question.

This game is being developed by Zenimax Online Studios, a sister-company of BGS. And they've been working on it since 2007, during which time BGS developed and released both FO3 and TES V. I don't think you need to worry about this drawing resources away from the games BGS develops. :)
