As topic.
Very mixed feelings about this announcement.
On one hand, i am happy that we would be able to finally see the whole of Tamriel in a single game,
and possibilities of seeing Akavir, or even Atmora in future expansion packs.
However, the MAIN FEAR i have now is...does this spell the end of the Elder Scrolls Single Player Franchise?
Will there no longer be anymore Elder Scrolls 6 in the future?
Please do not give the same Bioware bullcrap about Elder Scrolls Online being Elder Scrolls 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and so on.
World of Warcraft is another example. Because of WoW, Fans of the RTS Warcraft series will never see a Warcraft 4 again.
The essence of an Elder Scrolls game IMO, is for a player to feel like a HERO (or Villian) in a world.
Making it into an MMO trivializes the player, because suddenly, EVERYONE and his mother is the Dovahkiin, Nerevarine etc.
It will transition from a single player game where the story is weaved around the player,
to a world where the only thing that matters is "WHY ARE YOU NOT DOING ENOUGH DPS NOOB????"
One very frightening scenario had already happened when Skyrim was first launched.
On the main skyrim forum, there were fools who were RANTING about NOT ENOUGH DPS .... IN A SINGLE PLAYER GAME!!!
Imagine what will happen if the MMORPG releases...
Another important aspect of the Elder Scrolls series (at least from Morrowind onwards) that Bethesda should NOT overlook
is the support of the wonderful MODDING Community.
It was MODS that made people still play Morrowind till this very day 10 years after its first release.
An online Elder Scrolls will DESTROY this fantastic community that the franchise took so long to build up.
Please Bethesda. PLEASE RE-CONSIDER your decision to release this.
MMORPGs are very dangerous and volatile territory where success is measured ONLY if you are able to beat WoW.
PLEASE RE-CONSIDER your decision i beg of you.
