after long contemplation, i think that i did enjoy fallout 3

Post » Sun Jun 19, 2011 8:06 pm

Of course not. The entire Mojave is an "Oasis of Green" instead a "depressing sea of brown." They need to be careful not to damage Fallout's setting too much because then they might have to change the name of the game.

The reason one of the devs gave for making New Vegas unnaffected by the atomic war is that they felt the environment of the last game was too depressing and that they wanted to see green vegetation instead of brown. I bull$#it you not. Did they forget they're making a Fallout game?

You know what Im talking about. The water is clean and there's plant life. It didnt get hit by the Hydrogen bombs.

That brings up something interesting...

Do we even know witch bombs were used in The Great War? Were they only hydrogen bombs, atomic bombs, or was it a mixture of both?

I'd guess that they were mostly A bombs sense H bombs wipe out all organic life within the blast radius, while leaving buildings intact.

But back on topic. I won't deny that Fallout 3 did have a more post apocalyptic feel, but, it was a post apocalyptic feel that made no sense. It had been over 200 years sense The Great War, and were supposed to believe that the people of the Capital Wasteland made NO attempt to rebuild? I really don't see how the Super Mutants were such a threat either, if they would get off their butts and put together a reasonably sized militia then they could do just as much damage as the BoS.

And if it sounds like I'm ragging on Fallout 3 I'm not. I enjoyed it, I looked on my save files the other day and I had around fifty or sixty characters past level 16 and with at least 14 hours of play on each (my longest running character had about 400 hours and was level 28).

I don't like to use the word "old", when speaking objectively, I prefer to use "classic".

Exactly...just look at my sig lol.

@freaklore im pretty sure it was atomic missiles.

Fallout 3 had exploration but compared to New Vegas that's really it. New Vegas nails it on questing, story, and actual character impact.

i also enjoy fallout 3 a little bit more but i wish it had some of the features as New Vegas. and you guys might think I'm crazy or something but i didn't like New Vegas's story that much i mean it just felt like it was their story instead of ours. i do like the factions and all but the wasteland is too civilized i shot three hundred something creatures and only hundred and twelve? humans. And i am a knight in shining armor type player so i don't really see the need to kill boomers, bos, great khans,NCR and the kings.

But don't get me wrong i played the crap out of New Vegas and to see all these factions from the original games (that i haven't played) was awesome. but to see all this infighting breaks my heart after all friendship is magic. Birth to earth, womb to tomb. Fallout players rule! That's us. and we rule.

For me i wish FNV took more time to build because i feel like alot of content is left out of the game you know? buildings that have nothing in them bugs out the shoe heck even the MQ could have been made better with some more time. All in all this game felt rushed

You are wrong. The FAR more powerful Hydrogen bombs (some are thousands of times more powerful than nuclear weapons) are in the megatons and are capable of discintegrating large islands, meaning the island no longer exists after detonation. There is just a massive crater left in the ocean which are miles long. In fact hydrogen bombs are so powerful that when they are detonated it warps reality itself to where it looks kind of like an oil painting. You cant make out where the base of the explosion is because all you see are blotches of red morphing into different shapes all over the place. It looks like our dimension is being bent.

Example:

Watch a LARGE island disapear.

I loved both games, but have to give a small edge to FO3 just because the world seemed more alive.
The random encounters were awsome in that game. I'll never forget the time i was wandering around and a wastelander ran up to me with a bomb strapped to him and pleaded for help, needless to say my explosives skill was way too low and the guy blew us both to hell!

Ivy Mike was the first H Bomb test, it was exploded at 7.15 am local time on November 1st 1952. The mushroom cloud was 8 miles across and 27 miles high. The canopy was 100 miles wide. Radioactive mud fell out of the sky followed by heavy rain. 80 million tons of earth was vaporised. Mike was the first ever megaton yeild explosion.

And that's just a 10 megaton hydrogen bomb. The most powerful H bomb detonated on record was 50 megatons.

To keep the Soviets from making a move on the rest of the Free World, to show the superiority of equal rights, freedom, free enterprise, individuality, and capitalism over tyrannical, oppressive, collective communist rule.

True, but something like that shouldn't be used for anything more than a scare tactic. Is what I mean. Or at least a Last Resort weapon.

It's also Fallout 3's fault. Kids saw videos of flying heads and kids cussing, and thought it looked cool. F3 is a game made for casuals.

No, it is not true. The words "freedom", "equal rights", "individuality", and "capitalism" are what make it not true. Washington already has a missile shield (which is actually a sword) that will theoretically give them the freedom to carry out nuclear first strike which has been their goal all along but that's for another forum.

Oh great, a conspiracy theorist. So the big bad gub'mint has a sword that blocks missiles, and they want nuclear war? Nice theory.

This is not the place. It's in the documents. They are public. The rest of world's intelligence agencies can read them as easily as I can.
