after long contemplation, i think that i did enjoy fallout 3

Post » Sun Jun 19, 2011 9:35 pm

Dear Colonel, i didn't played the ugly Fallouts 1 & 2, but i think that the devs will make it up with Fallout 4.... they just throw FNV in to Obsidians lap... because of Skyrim there baby.

Keep complaining about the Fallout series and then i will play the best Fallout (4) ever because of you guys.... keep up the good work

You make new fans look bad.

we arent complaining, all of them are great, you are just a rude person that cant except that people dont share your opinion, they may not have great graphics, but if it means that much to you, then download a high texture mod and give it a try.

People stating opinions as though they were fact... people telling other people they shouldn't enjoy one game because their opinion is that it isn't a good Fallout game... people stuck in the same old infuriating mindsets... people bashing each other like young children...

It's unbelievable how these forums haven't changed a bit. I wonder how much longer these volatile "nuh-uh, you're wrong and my opinion is fact" arguments will go on for and I'm not referring to what you're saying, OP.

actually the battle graphics in fallout 2 are pretty good, the terrain not so much. There's probably a terrain graphics mod out there somewhere.

I prefer nv over 3 because of the much improved story and overall gameplay advances, 3 was fun and did have more exploration but became easy far too soon and every enemy is a bullet sponge I tried going back but just can't deal with losing my iron sites and better writing. There both really good games and which one is better is just a personal choice.

you arent talking about me right?

No, not you... these threads just always end up so similar with the same people saying the same exact things over and over again and no one seems to understand the concept of "Yes, I do perceive things differently than you."

Never would have thought anyone would like bullet sponges, they were horribly unbalanced, and really easy to kill, just took way too much time and ammo, they could actually endanger you.

Hey guys lets not put all our hate the guy who doesn't like dated graphics. At least he plays fallout, direct that anger to idiots like my brother and uncle who thinks CoD is God. My stupid brother said to me the other day that "Fallout was for sissy's" . I was about to punch him in the face, I can't believe I'm related to this guy....

Fallout New Vegas vs Fallout 3 with my main do it all charater

Fallout 3 all DLC 281.41.23 quests 57 vs FNV with 2 DLC 275.29.24 quests 110 and i played only one ending so far

FNV unique weapons texture/mesh? are unique like in Oblivion vs Fallout 3 they are not

Maybe it's all in our heads....

Fallout 3 was better in my head to and i don't know why

FO3 had good world design... that was it. FNV has a way better story (RPG's should not linear, on-rails, hand-holding stories....). The atmoshere of NV was better, because while it is a desolate wasteland it is not all cut-and-paste rocks and ruins. The enemies in Fallout 3 were so bland and boring. Weapons were pretty bland too... they felt like wet noodles. The only interesting part of the the main story was Tranquility Lane.... Little Lamplight was one of the worst moments in my gaming experience. Companions were 1 dimensional. Without the well designed 'exploration' the game would have fell flat on its face.

FO3 was fun to play to explore, but not to role-play. That is why, to me, it failed as an RPG. Still has a lot of good moments, but it was so.... action gamey. New Vegas attached a lot of weight to character design and quest decisions. It was a lot easier to ride the morally gray line in NV which made role-playing unique personalities a lot easier. There was just a ton more options for role-plyaing in NV and that is why it was a better RPG, and not just a better Fallout game.

A game does not have to be one or the other, but FO3 combat was pretty boring after a while. I love the unique feel of weapons in NV.

I'm sorry...didn't I just read that you didn't like that somebody was being a tad jerkish toward you? Everybody has their own damn opinions, though this thread is very interesting it's becoming really nasty. Some of those joking statements you just posted were pretty valid. And if you're going to insult people please spell correctly. I'm totally going to go grammar nazi on you :toughninja:

Honestly, Ace? The ailment is there, for sure, but the extent of it in each is no comparison, Fallout 3 PC godliness is much more crazy than in NV.

Lol. Being able to go to lvl 30 alone. Plus going to lvl 50!! Your a god...its undeniable.

That was an answer to Spectre's previous post. But Fallout 3 and NV do a half-decent job of pretending to be an FPS :hehe:

But the skill amount is much lower, plus less perks, in addition to the improved SPECIAL. Fallout 3s lvl 30 character will still be more godlike than NVs lvl 50.

I like New Vegas more in almost every regard besides its world design. That's not to say I don't like the setting or atmosphere, because I love both, more than Fallout 3's. My problem in the world design lies with invisible walls and lack of variation. I don't have a problem with dangerous animals making it difficult to go North from the beginning, but you should have been able to take shortcuts through them (if you can find them, they could have been very illusive) or just across mountains. I understand if this was difficult do to the clumsiness of navmesh and being true to the area's geography, but they should have made more areas like "Primm Pass" that let you get through the mountains, or other alternatives. My second issue is that you can always expect a certain enemy to be in a certain place, and while that is good in terms of expecting Powder Gangers to spawn near Goodsprings and NCRCF, they should have appeared in random locations and done ambushes or the like. Part of a game like Oblivion or the current style of Fallout that is likely here to stay is the randomness. Having tons of quests that are well-written is awesome, and it is where New Vegas really shines, but having that and a world that I can travel and not know what to expect is unmatchable. That being said, I think New Vegas is miles ahead of Fallout 3, and I'll never play Fallout 3 again. I hope that for Fallout 4, their design revolves around "how can we take the previous games and make them better while still adding our own touch and appeal to fans of all games/Fallout virgins?", instead of "how can we make the game have more cool [censored] and appeal to our fans and Fallout virgins?".

I don't like to use the word "old", when speaking objectively, I prefer to use "classic".
