Animals you won't kill

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 5:47 am

Normally I wouldn't kill harmless animals, but if they walk past/near me...I just can't help myself....
as for threatening animals....I usually kill them before they even notice me simply because its irritating when they start jumping on me and attacking me even though it does practically no damage

There's a place for all God's creatures....right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

I don't and wouldn't enjoy killing most of the animals in the game. No offense, but I think it's a bit ADD if you go around just mindlessly killing people and animals, that's what a handful of my friends (casual gamers) do.

I have a paticular love for Foxes, as they are one of my favorite animals. I will kill bears, because they are hostile. I kill Mammoths occasionally, for soul gems, and I also kill Mud Crabs if they turn hostile. I don't kill Horkers, but I find it hilarious to use Unrelenting Force on them and watch them skid across the Ice Fields. The only creatures I enjoy killing are trolls, chaurus and falmer.

I basically do it for the thrill of the hunt. I sneak to a good vantage/shot and if they see and take off, opportunity lost. If I hit and they survive, I then do my best to pursue, but that's not often. Always aim for where I would when I'm actually hunting... right behind the left shoulder to puncure lungs and, hopefully, heart.

Mostly deer though. Sometimes rabbits for the difficulty factor. I NEVER use melee. And almost always use the parts I harvest. Being wolf clan indian, I hate hyper aggressive wolves in all games.

I'm the same. I only kill animals that attack me. Mud crabs often get splattered as they try to attack me. Most of the time I just ignore them and just run past them as they are too slow.

Same here, if I can run faster then them then I don't kill em.But my ranger build is another story, he lives off the land and hunts for his meals but he never wastes the animal he always takes everything and uses it.

Spiders. I bet you kill spiders? :P

I generally don't kill animals either, unless I need their pelts for crafting or something. And I've killed a lot of mammoths, only because they are the only creatures I know of, other than humans that can fill up a grand soul gem... Human's require black soul gems so unfortunately for the mammoth, they are on the chopping block when it comes to regular grand soul gems... I shame really, that not even Dragon Priests or Draugr Overlords can fill up grand soul gem.

Though I haven't needed any soul gems for a long time since I got all my gear enchanted etc... Mammoths now know a peace from my wrath that they haven't experienced in a long long time.

Eagles, Mudcrabs and Deers need to die, for the ingredients and pelts, otherwise I try to avoid killing anything that doesn't attack me (never killed a bunny in the entire game).

I sometimes kill them, it just depends what I feel like. Although if there is a bunny rabbit near a cliff, the temptation to use unrelenting force is unbearable ;)

I don't kill anything that doesn't attack me. I did kill a bunny early on and I love that fact that the game keeps record of that.

I stopped killing bears a while ago since this game has a tendency of throwing 2 or 3 bears at me every 10 steps I go so I just use kyne's peace and avoid those annoying bears.

I'm a vegetarian myself. My characters aren't. They'll kill anything thats a danger to them, can be cooked, or supplies useful crafting ingredients. They even tear the wings off butterflies

Just Horkers, they're too cute...

Horkers are good for upping your destruction skills at low levels. Then you get their meat and their tusks for consumption and sale.

My Bosmer Archer/Assassin kills anything he wants. He kills all animals but for a reason, anything that attacks or will attack him will die. Anything that's non-hostile may die but for a purpose like meat or hide. As respect to nature I take everything off the animals corpse and use it. I usually ignore non-hostile animals though since they provide a distaction to other animals so I can just ignore them as well. I usually just ignore or out run most animals. I play on Master and I usually get destroyed if a bear or saber gets close, so I just make a run for it. At first when I played the game I had fun playing as a hunter but I ended up changing into a dark assassin instead.

Won't Ever Kill : Foxes, Horses, Pappies (One time I accidentally killed a fox, and was so upset I made it my undead thrall so I could pretend it wasn't dead)

Rarely Kill : Chickens, Goats

Kill if they bug me : Mudcrabs, Skeevers, Wolves, Bears, Sabre-Tooth Tiggies

Blast on Sight : Bunnies, Mammoths, Horkers

Chase Incessantly Across Landscape with Knife in Murderous Frenzy : Venisons (i.e. Deer of all kinds), Argonians

The last one is a throw-over habit from Oblivion, where it was easier due to Speed and Athletics, but the lack of such skills in Skyrim hasn't stopped me. The moment I spot any sort of deer, the hunt is officially on... and everything else is secondary. Sometimes I don't even bother with the knife, and chase elks down to punch them to death and harvest their sweet meats... ...... Then I eat the venison, snap out of the hunter's frenzy, and wonder where the hell I got to and what I was doing before VENISON!!
Does take me back to many days spent chasing Venisons across the entire length of Cyrodill, swinging my little knife around like a hokerr, jumping off cliffs onto them, etc. I've been killed many times while hunting Venisons, simply due to complete lack of self-preservation instincts in the hunting frenzy.

Here's a list of animals i don't kill:

Mudcrabs
Horkers
rabbits
Mammoths
Goates
Deers
Dogs
Cows
Horses
Foxes
Wow, out that entire list, the only animal I haven't yet killed is the cow. All other have been subjected to my training exercises.

in the beginning of the game i hunted to level up range and see what everything dropped and sold stuff as well. everyone should try role playing a hunter at least once imo because it was a load of fun.
i found birds and foxes to be the hardest prey because of how small they are and they had little value in terms of loot. so i let them go
deer on the plains were the obvious winner because you could kill 2-3 before they got to far away. i used the leather to upgrade black smithing and sold the stuff i made.
horkers are ok to fight but i never do unless they attack first.
mammoths drop nothing worthy but i have gotten a few.
goats and other stuff i don't normally attack either, but i have killed at least 1 of everything to see what it drops.

Grand Souls.
More than justifies slaughtering them wherever you see them, assuming you've got a Soul Trap weapon and empty Grand Soul Gems.

From video's i've seen on Youtube i noticed that some people who play Skyrim kill every animal that crosses their path. Personally, i'm a animal lover and i will never kill animals, unless they are a direct treat to me.
{snip}
What is your point of view on animals in Skyrim? And do you kill them?

I was laughin' so hard at this typo!

But on topic:

I will purposely kill hunters, bandits and other wildlife (wolves, bears, etc) if I catch them trying to kill or having killed a fox.
