Seriously, I do swear quite a bit in real life, but only when it adds some sort of meaningful effect to what I'm saying.

Where I live we are very loose with our choice if words, and cuss words are very common here.

Examples:
*trips and falls* Aw [censored]

Hell if I know

Well I'll be a son of a [censored].

Ect.
Phrases like that are very commonplace where I come from.

One I frequently run into is such a silly filter... It's an 'r' word that means to be slowed down. I just choose to replace it with something more pointed since that fairly innocuous word is censored. I guess talking about the thing that does the slowing is allowed however as the censor allows it with the -ant ending. Heh, that's BOVINEFECES! ;)

I think the worst is the English version of "ass", when used to describe one's rear. The rationale is that "ass" has a legitimate alternative usage, though the same doesn't apply to a male hen, curiously.

Yet who calls a donkey an ass anymore?

Yet I hear people calling male chickens "cocks" All. The. Time.

Hmm, maybe they've uncensored that one; I'm sure when I once tried to write cocked it came out as "[censored]ed".

Edit: I wonder if that means they've uncensored "[censored]"...?

Edit 2: no. <_<

As some have said, i've searched for the censor filter in the settings. I thougt i was too dumb to find it by it doesnt exist at all.

As i find swearing-for-the-sake-of-just-swearing pointless, i see no harm in read it in a ordinary post.

No one talks like: "Holy censored! Look at that car!".

Well, i guess i made my point.

Can you, moderators (programmers), make it a toggle option?

I'd appreciate it.

Assuming the forum software even allows it... We'd also need to make sure it's available only for members of a certain age - and everyone knows that's something teenagers never lie about. :) Personally, I just don't think it's worth the trouble.

And yet it does apply to 'Belgium', apparently.

"Belgium" is a rude word? Perhaps Old Andy, the forum's resident Belgian, can elucidate.

Sorry falchya...right over my head, as I've never read it. I missed that somewhere along the line.

One that I was shocked to discover the other day when I used it on the Skyrim forum, was really devoted fan.

[edit]...see...I just spelled "was fan-boi" normally.

I did, but I've long since forgotten about any reference to Belgium. I do, however, remember Vic Reeves' cover of Ultravox's Vienna that celebrated such classic Belgian icons such as Van Morrison.

Not going to happen as the forums are 13+.

Having been on the receiving end of pms that consist largely of "Censored you, you censored pile of stinking censored. Censored censored censored idiot nerd censored in your mother's censored basemant you censored censored censored." does not make me consider the sender to be mature and inteliigent. It usually ends up with a sigh, an  , and a logging in the admin/mod forum for future reference. Swearing doesn't make one seem articulate, well-spoken, or well-mannered.

You can fill in those Censored words with your own and voila, your hate mail is now love mail!

Sorry sweetheart, didn't mean to ignore you. But I was waiting for Stormrider to pick it up, seeing he's the resident Belg around here..

[stares at vom for a couple seconds..]

right, well... Belgium. This is what people who aren't from around here think of it..

Belgium.

Less offensive words have been created in the many languages of the galaxy, such as joojooflop, swut and Holy Zarquon's Singing Fish.

The use of bad language can have unforseen circumstances. One example is the war between the G'gugvunts and the Vl'hurgs, caused by a casual remark made by Arthur Dent being mistaken as a terrible insult.

Simultaneous Babel Fish translation also means that any being can be rude to any other being without the need for extensive explanations. This has also started many wars.

The reason the Earth has been shunned for so long is also due to a language problem. On Earth, Belgium refers to a small country. Throughout the rest of the galaxy, Belgium is the most unspeakably rude word there is.

I'm really not sure what to say in response to that! Anyway, his version of Vienna (which is, of course, also in Belgium, at least according to Reeves) was... erm... different.

I work in a kitchen. My life outside is full of swearing. I don't think I've ever been handed a regular skillet or a regular knife. They're always accompanied by swearing.

I like the lack of swearing here. It's a nice change of pace.

So... For anyone wondering, yes, swearing in other languages also counts as censor avoidance.

Aside from the technical terms for genitalia which are oddly censored, those could be used in a verbos debate topic. But overall 99% of the words censored by this forum have no need in civil conversation. Most of the language is only useful for ignorant people or trolls. Cursing isnt a necessity of life you know >_>

That said, I am not funny. forum censors you!

Edit: Never get tired of that auto-filter
