Do any of you like the Thalmor?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:27 pm

Anyone who claims to truly like the Thalmor is talking nonsense. Unless, of course, they are roleplaying a Thalmor supporter - but even then that wouldn't make sense because the Thalmor try to screw with everything the player character does.

They're the out and out bad guys. Villains. Bethesda clearly gave no effort whatsoever in trying to make them look even somewhat commendable. Bethesda didn't try to paint them a shade of grey - or to make them complex villains - they're fully black and they're the villains. I would have preferred the Thalmor to be a little more not so evil. But it looks like Bethesda wanted to create an organisation to be the villians - to be the faction that everyone hates. Even Dagoth Ur in Morrowind had more to rationalise and more to empathise with.

Every time they are in a story arch during Skyrim they act like dikes. I don't see how there is any room for debate here.

End of story.

I'm expecting to see the Thalmor take an even greater role in TES VI.

You have to use TES shades to catch the shades of grey lol, to you they might be all out baddies, but as far as TES is concerned the Dovakiin is just one dude/dudette with one opinion. the Thalmor might think they are the saviors of the universe, and if you read their text you'd see if you were born among the you might feel the same way ;p. unless of course they slaughter your entire family lolololol

I like good thalmor.

See my sig for my definition of "good thalmor".

The Thalmor wish to uncreate the world in some mad scheme to achieve divinity.

That Tiber Septim transcended above their gods by more forward (as opposed to the Thalmor's more backward) methods offends them. That Tiber was a man even moreso.

I have a feeling that Alduin was just the first threat to reality that the Dragonborn will be putting down. I think that Beth may be doing a "story arc" DLC run a la FONV's involving dealing with the Thalmor menace.

By his/her very nature, the Dragonborn is the greatest threat to their plans they will ever know. They just don't know it yet.

They are definetly on my KOS list. Them along with Penitus Occulatos. Always on watch for those Mer dogs. You know a writer does a good job when the villain they create are actually resented. When a villain is seen as cool, its a slight fail on a writers part since well the villain is supposed to be the worst thing imaginable.

I love them because they look so awesome.

I play as a Thalmor character. I wish the game would have the option of joining them though, rather than just wearing their clothes.

I seriously don't get what's bad about the Thalmor? I like them more than the Empire's Legion or the Stormcloaks.

I kill every Thalmor agent I see. I hate all the High Elves except for the ones residing in the College and the priest in Falkreath, Runil. Although I might like some more that I haven't met.

I'm just wondering... I've heard more than once someone online mention that the Thalmor's ultimate goal is to kill off every human in order to become gods. Where can this be referenced in the lore? I thought i had read every in game book, but I must have missed something.

The thalmor personify every negative high elf stereotype and I have made it my personal mission to eradicate them whenever possible.
LMAO! I have run into them throughout the game and they always tell me to leave them. I once asked my follower to kill them. lol I bumped into them in the snow after surviving 2 sabertooth attacks and they opened their mouth at me and told me to leave. I immediately turned to my follower and asked him to dispatch them and he did.

*They believe they are the true rulers of Tamerial

*They torture and murder innocent people just to get their way (even their own).

*If you are not a High Elf they look down upon you. However they are willing to offer tolerance to non High Elves on their terms to get what they want from you, by means of spying or harsh agreements.

*They refuse to acknowledged Talos is a god because they do not believe a man could achieve being one of the divines.

*There is rumors going around Tamerial the Thalmor had something to do with the disappearance and the sudden reappearance of the moons in Elsywer (home of the Kajait). But no one is willing to offer proof. Now the Kajait revere the Thalmor as their saviors.

*Thalmor destroyed the Blades. They hunted them down and presented their heads in a cart to the Emperor.

There is more but I think I'll get an arrow to the knee if I don't hush

They think that TAlos was a MAn. and he w as not a MAn. Talos was a dovah in man form.

thus he carried the bloodline of Akatosh and was divine....

I've hated them from the start, but I would force myself to ignore them and go my way.

But one day, I was minding my own business, walking in the wilds of Skyrim, when these two Thalmor Justiciers and this other Thalmor freak walked passed me with one of them saying: "Out of my way citizen!" I just snapped and cold blooded murdered the three of them. Since then I kill them as much as I can (when not in a city). I feel a lot better.

I play an High Elf pure Mage who is a Daedra worshiper. He overall doesn't mind the Thalmor and has joined the Stormcloaks to help them.... he sees it as helping pull apart the Empire from within. He views men as more of a 'beast race' and agrees that Talos might be a 'demi-god' but definitely isn't among the true realms of divinity. He also believes the High Elves can reclaim divinity. He's not sure about the tainted ones (Wood, Dark.... he considers Falmer to be worthy only of slaughter along with the Dwemer if they ever return).

In the Civil War, there should have been a third option... Thalmor. My High Elf mage would join then in a heartbeat.

What most Thalmor lovers fail to realize is that you are Dragonborn. Just by being Dragonborn you are a threat to their ultimate goal of unmaking Mundus.

I hate them, but my High Elf mage thinks they're cool. Turns out, I'm not a pointy eared elf who shoots fire out of his fingers. I'm just some dude playing a video game.

They piss me off. I wish the development team would've given players a reason to like the Thalmor, but nothing.

I encountered them with one of my characters while I was with Farkas and I started a conversation to get to understand them. And if you happen to be someone who thinks they're misunderstood here goes.

The conversation ended when the Thalmor said he didn't like me and him and his cronies started attacking us. WTF!? I HATE THEM!!!! That sealed the deal for me.
