Anyone Else Agree That The Armour in Skyrim needs to be Redo

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:42 pm

After getting my Smithing up to level 100 on the Skill Tree I found that the Dragon Armour didnt live up to Expextations. Tbh I thought that the Daedric Armour should have been 100 instead of Dragon Armour. also the Ebony, Orcish, and Glass were letdowns. Besides the bad Armour Skyrim is the all time best game.

Anyone else agree??

I agree that it needs to be redone- I do not agree that you should have some otherwise unachievable level of armor by stuffing smith perks down your character's throat. Dragon armor is for looks, and I do like that fact.

I would like a fallout NV system, where there was a DF number that armor protected under. In that game it had instances like an example that a light pistol would not ever make a dent in metal armor, because the damage could not surpass the DF rating. THIS is what is really needed to make a tangible difference between light and heavy armors. A high DF could be implemented to give heavy armor an edge over light, and light needs a tangible advantage in movement-speed (currently it does not)

As it stands right now, both armors can get identical protection and light just has better perks.

I hate the perk that makes Heavy armour weightless.
It makes light armour completely useless from a gameplay perspective.
Seriously, it needs to go, or be replaced with one that makes heavy armour weigh half as much.

Oh, and If Beth decides to release a balance patch after they fix the major bugs (which I highly doubt),
they should tone down smithing too. It's absolutely ridiculous that you can improve basically any armour over the armour cap without using overenchanted gloves and such.

Light armor has better stamina regen if you take the perk

Dragonbone Armor looks like it's fashioned from a hunk of bone though.

Uhh, what? I'm confused by this statement.

I'm pretty content with armor in skyrim-awesome models and smithing allows for a lot of flexibilty. the only suggestion I have is too make change the formula to something more like what is found in morrowind. However, the percentile system currently employed is perfectly functional.

Well, read everything to get the context.

I'm saying Dragonbone armor looks appropriate because it looks like a hunk of bone. This is why we can't have subtlety in life, people get wooshed.

Definitely. Should've taken some queues from The Witcher 2 on how armor should be designed. I realize Skyrim and TES as a whole is high fantasy but that doesn't mean the armor has to look straight up cartoonish.

Maybe if they come in more pieces then yes they should be redone. Otherwise leave the current armour and add a lot more into the game for varieties sake, same thing can be said for the clothing and accessories.

And which armors do you think look "cartoonish"? Dwarven does look a bit absurd, but I'm not sure even that one I'd call cartoonish (not that I like that word - I've almost never agreed with it being applied to a game's art style. Of course, usually it's just a blanket complaint applied to any game not using a "realistic" brown/grey color scheme, so...)

Lets see, daedric armor, nightengale armor, glass armor and both varieties of dragon armor go on that list as well. The grey/brown color scheme works just fine if some actual thought goes into the design process, whereas the high-tier stuff I see in the game now is more akin to something out of anime. Alas, I'm aware most of the armor I've listed has super-duper magical qualities that should by all rights make it look "super sweet", I just think they went a bit overboard with it.

Overboard with it, why I see no issue with it its certainly an improvement from Oblivion, I do think the glass armor should look a little similar to Morrowinds set up, my one issue is with glass and drgagonscale they look like heavy armor to me.

I guess the "why" can be summed up to personal taste. I found most of the armor in Oblivion to be over-the-top as well, Morrowind is the exception out of the three games. There was a reason why so many of it's different varieties of armor looked alien and outlandish. "Less-is-more" is apparently a concept Bethesda disdains nowadays.

I agree that Morrowind has had the best armor up to this point, but a lot.of that armor was downright strange, which is a plus, I despise how they have been shoving less down our throats and it started bad in Oblivion.

I'm currenly wearing the Nightingale armor, but in parts. I'm still mixing and matching due to attributes I can't get on my own enchanting (16% is the best I can get right now).

However, I don't see an issue with the armor. I play POV, so I never see my character anyway (which, btw, I wish we could have restored when equipping items to our characters).

To me, so long as I'm protected from fire and ice, bring it. My loincloth will do the rest.

I would love a return of Mithril armour, also the Adamantine armour from Morrowind, so that both light and heavy get a new set, I am hoping this will be in the DLC.

I just hope that if there are tonnes of new Armours comming in the next D.L.C and that their might be just one smith that will be able to change up the apperance of some of the Armours you can create. Hear me out. Like if their was a special type of smith who would tell you to fetch different types of Ore like the Geode Veins found in Blackreach that would help you change up your Armour. Example---> Dragon Scales, Dragon Bone, Leathers Strips, and Geode Ore to make a different version of Dragon Armour (of course instead of Geode Ore it would be called something else). I think that would be handy for people who want the change the look of Dragon, Ebony, Glass, and Orcish Armours. And like a said before bring in more cool looking Armour like the Nightingale Armour except White or something.
