Anyone Else Agree That The Armour in Skyrim needs to be Redo

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:49 am

After getting my Smithing up to level 100 on the Skill Tree I found that the Dragon Armour didnt live up to Expextations. Tbh I thought that the Daedric Armour should have been 100 instead of Dragon Armour. also the Ebony, Orcish, and Glass were letdowns. Besides the bad Armour Skyrim is the all time best game.

Anyone else agree??
I agree i don't really like the looks of a lot of them but they don't have to redo them. Just add new ones in the dlc.

PC elitism at it's finest

No, just a realist. Consoles can't do mods, right? Thus even though the answer is "use mods" those on console can't. Sorry, nothing I can do about it. And those that bought the game on console knew they couldn't use mods. But expecting Bethesda to do something they never have done (and frankly isn't done on most other games either, heck with Dragon Age I used armor mods too), is frankly silly. Unless you want stupid $3.99 "Armor DLC" or something. Although I guess if you don't ask it won't happen. Good luck!

I haven't played any of the other TES games but i like the armors in this one. I have mostly used light armor, elven armor to be more exact. Just at the end(last lvls up to 100) i changed to glass armor but kept the elven gauntlets

Since i have lvl100 at light armor i now switched to heavy again to start lvling that up to 100. I really like the daedric armor i think i looks good and it is not bad. the Dragonbone and Dragonscale are ugly, never actually unlocked it in smithing since i have no use for it.

Tried out som "powerlvling" in armor and a little block, sure it works fine but it is booring.......ohh so booring.

I know i only play on adept but i'm new to these kind of games so i start small :P

That's fine but if you know Bethesda then you know they aren't going to modify the armors in the game. May add a new set to two in the expansion but that will be it. Modders have always done this in ES games and that won't change. Sorry you can't do mods on console, but then you knew that when you got the game. Right now I'm running a couple sweet armor mods coupled with a complete body and face retexture which makes Bethesda look sad on their defaults. As it was in Oblivion and Morrowind.

And nobody said you and hundreds of thousands of others aren't happy. Just don't get upset when the answer is "use such and such mod".

Hence why I bought a copy of the game for my 360 as well as my laptop. I love the ease of play and the UI of the 360 (easily my favorite platform), but every so often I get in the mood to play around with some mods, so I go hit my laptop for a day or two.

I live in both worlds! WOOT! :D

Thats how dawnguard starts.

Personally I don't agree. Best looking armor in the TES series so far. Sure there are a few sets that I don't find appealing but that doesn't mean someone else doesn't and they should be re-done.

Variants on armors as DLC would be very nice. They put in variants for the low level fur armors, and even for iron and steel, why not for the ones we will be wearing for a vast majority of the game? This has kinda bugged me for a while. Also, before more "pc has mods, svcks for console players" comments, Skyrim sold almost 10 million copies on consoles and just over 2 million on pc. It's called good business.

I agree.

I like dragonscale. But dragonplate is'nt as good.

You'd think they'd make the 100 smithing armour stronger than the 90.
That makes no sense.

I don't like deadric much. It's suffocating looking. And has boobplates on females.
I wore it once, then got dragonplate. Still boobplates, but looks better.

What most definately needs redoing is the freaking stupid boobplates and cleavages.
Make it all flat for females. And no more cleavages! YOU DO NOT HAVE CLEAVAGES IN HEAVY ARMOUR!
Theres boobplates on males too. I tried some males out, and they had boobplates in steel armour.
Not even the male armour is flat?! WTH!
Did a complete and utter moron design the armour?!
Someone who who thought that you had to show things you can't see under a shirt?!

The fur armour. It looks too skimpy. At least give it a cloak or something! Forsworn, they're crazy tribals who live in the warmest areas. So fair enough. Forsworn armours awesome.
But the rest of it, it looks far too cold. Yes, you would wander round that icey hell wearing a fur skirt and a skimpy top, not,

I wish they would change the armour to be the same for both sixes with the only diferences being details to show one is male, one is female. Flat brestplate and covers all the body.
You can't even see briasts when females wear armour.
In Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, you can't tell what gender a person is till they speak, because power armour looks the same on both genders. Like armour should. Every single piece of armour is flat and unisix.

If you wear heavy armour, you wear a padded surcoat or leather coat underneath to stop it ripping you up. So, female or male, your chest is flat. Then the armour adds a a size, because it has to be thick and loose enough to move when you fight.
So boobplate make zero sense on both genders.

If you wore that boobplate armour to battle, you'd die in seconds. They'd take one look at your unarmoured chest and boobplates, or cleavage, and drive their sword into your chest or through your briasts. You may as well paint a target on yourself.
Having seen the male boobplate armour, they'd do exactly the same to a man.

The cleavages don't make much sense in other armour either.
Forsworns tribal, so it does'nt matter as much.

But the fur etc, that cleavage and bared chest would be lethal.

Some of the helmets are too open. I would think that big high level armour would have a faceplate.
Dragonplate, dragonscale, daedric, those at least.

I would like more variety, sure, but so far, the armours seem fine to me. Some are a bit rediculous, sure, but you expect that with fantasy

You think Skyrim does armor poorly? The designs of almost every single one of armor in Oblivion were awful.

I love almost all the armors in this game, even the one I don't like I can see have a certain appeal to them. If anything I want MORE armor.

Also as Gheart said, Skyrim is a HUGE step-up from Oblivion, I hated almost all the armors in that game.

Personally I think the armor designs are a step up from both Morrowind and Oblivion. I do miss the TES IV Legion armor though.

I hate the perk that makes Heavy armour weightless.
It makes light armour completely useless from a gameplay perspective.

Not at all. It takes a good bit of playtime & perks to unlock that "weightless" perk for Heavy Armor. I'd rather wear light armor from the start, instead of going 2/3-3/4's of the time I play a character stumbling around with very heavy Heavy Armor taking up lots of my carrying capacity.

(i.e, just because something might give a big bonus at level 40, doesn't mean that anything else is useless - you still had to make it through levels 1-39 without it.)

It really needs some work. The only decent looking armor in this game is the Nightingale set.
The plate armor looks too much like a very plain 14th century knight. Even the Elven armor looks dull, it should be shiny. The Dwarven armor just looks ridiculous, especially the helm. The dragon armor is is totally horrific, someone said Flintstones and I'd agree there.

Standard armor like the stuff worn by guards and such is OK but if I was actually smithing armor for myself, I'd want it to be stylish and different from standard stuff. I would much rather see a stylish version that I crafted myself and a basic version from loot and vendors.

Some of the armors look very cold - add some pants; this is the frozen north! (Ancient Nordic, Stormcloak commander, etc)

Things I would like changed are:

Harder to create High level armor - Rare ingredients or quest to unlock them and a minimal amount of them in the world
Armor combinations - create metal plates to add to other armor (like fur armor with orcish iron sholder plates)
Remove Heavy and Light armor trees (combine with smithing) - The sturdiness/armor rating of armor should be how strong you or blacksmith merchant makes it
Blacksmiths can enhance armor for you for gold
Gauntlets - Able to create bladed or other types of weapon gauntlets (also unique enchantments for them to help cause damage or increase spell casting

I have other ideas but they just arent coming to me right now so I'll just leave you with this.

Smithing giving the option to customize armors would be nice, I doubt we'll see it but it would be nice. That way we can actually look different then NPC's using the same armor set, individuality is pretty much lost in this game as far as apparel appearance, even faces aren't all that different.

I would rather they go back to the drawing board on the horses and their capabilities than spend time on the armor.. but neither are going to change I guess so it's not worth worrying about. I do think the Dragon armors are a bit goofy... frankly I think some of the guild specific sets are the best... the first time I got the Nightingale armor set I just thought 'OMFG that is wicked looking!'...
