Anyone Else Feel That Earthquake...? (Virginia)

Post » Wed Aug 24, 2011 9:59 pm

I'm just glad I wasn't playing Amnesia: TDD during this.

I'm glad I wasn't bench pressing during the quake.

I felt it here (Eastern Panhandle of WV). This was a fairly powerful earthquake for the region.

No, nothing? I texted my family and none of them did either. I'm on the basemant level of the building, maybe that helped to feel it.

It scared the crap out of my two daughters, and even freaked me out a little as well, I was half alseep on the couch. For a reminder, I live on top of a mountain in Western Maryland(The very edge of Washington county). Shook out entire place, I ended up rushing next door in my underwear to make sure my 'rents felt it as well and that it wasn't just our place about to collapse.

I left Washington County for L.A. about six years ago, and now you guys can say you've felt a bigger earthquake than I ever have. How odd.

Nope I'm not crazy...I felt it in Metro Detroit...very mildly...

"Apparently there were tremors felt as far away as Martha’s Vineyard, Detroit and parts of Ohio. That’s a really wide area of impact for a relatively small quake."

LOL. Yeah, that is kind of strange ^^. I always figured I'd be an earthquake virgin for my entire life(since I really have no intention of ever moving to an area that commonly has them). Oh well, cherry popped ^^

At the range is was equivalent to maybe a 2.5-3.0 earthquake so most people cannot sense it. Heck even at my location it only felt like a heavy wind storm or a big truck speeding by very closely. Of course it depending on the building construction and depth.

Yep. Took me a while to realize that it was an earthquake, rather than some dude with a lot of bass in his car or construction equipment. Apparently people are freaking out over it though

I'm a half hour outside Philly, and people that live two minutes away felt it but I didn't feel a thing.

Hmm, people in different locations must have felt remarkably different things, as there was no way I could have mistaken for my entire place shaking for someone going by with a tricked out bass system. And while I do live in a trailer, my parents live in a very sturdy house and they felt it as well. Then again, my best friend who lives just 15 miles away thought it was merely the cats jumping up on the roof, rofl.

Now you can all yell "OMG I'm moving away!" like paranoid Eastern/Midwestern transplants do when there's an earthquake in California. ;)

Are you kidding? I wish I was awake to experience it (or whatever of it managed to find its way here). A mild earthquake here and there sounds like fun, so long as it's not destructive.

I'm disappointed that I didn't feel it. Could have made for a good massage on my couch.

That wasn't an earthquake actually, I was playing some dubstep.

I'm in upstate NY and while I didn't feel it apparently many people in the area did. My wife works next to the geology department at the local university and they received a whole pile of calls asking about it.

The quake originated at Beth's office when they were testing a dragon shout.
I hope it was the "Summon Dragon" shout. :mage:
That earthquake could only mean one thing...ALDUIN HAS RETURNED!!

Can you blame him, though? I mean, he's obviously eaten Nirn and I doubt he gets much exercise in Aetherius or the Void.
