Are you still playing Skyrim?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:16 pm

Still playing it for now, but I'm beginning to grow bored. I've logged 138 hours between three characters, and have now completed all of the guild questlines and the civil war. The only major things left for me to do are to become thane in every city, acquire all possible daedric artifacts, and complete the main quest. After I do all that, I'll take a nice long break until the DLCs start rolling out.

After those are through with, I'll probably uninstall the game for about 6 months to a year, then come back and play it with the most radical overhaul mods available installed.

I choose MW3 and Revelations over Skyrim, even though I've been playing TES series since Morrowind.. And now I regret it :( But I'm getting it next week yay!

Glad your coming to our side.

Welcome sir, to the community of Skyrim.

I haven't played Skyrim since last week. According to my Steam stats, I have played this game for 83 hours. Over that time, I've played both a Breton mage and a Nord warrior. Finished a vast majority of the quests. 70% of the achievements complete.

Now, I am just waiting for the 1.4 patch and CS to come out. Perhaps this time I might actually try my hand at some minor modding.

You can download the beta of 1.4 on steam if that is what your waiting to try out.

So why exactly do people who sell their game because they thought it was boring keep coming to this forum?

Attention.

Even my lil bro got rid of it, and he ADORES TES! All he made was ONE Character, a Wood Elf. And he said he got bored.. well YEAH when your only sneaking and shooting it gets boring AWFULLY quick... I tried getting him to make more chars, RP a bit, stuff like that but he just gave it up. W/e

He asked me the other day when he saw me making a Character: "I know you always ask me why I keep playing Dark Souls.. I should ask you the same about Skyrim." Because I love the game engine, lore, environments, dialogue (which is my LEAST fav. thing in ANY game), and just so much much more.

NO LIE this kid will get a Char. in Dark Souls to like LV75 in NOT EVEN ONE DAY of playing. I really don't get what's so fascinating about that steaming pile of crap they dare call an RPG.. if anything It'd be the 1st game I EVER whip like a frisbee against the wall.

Will I ever do that with Skyrim? Nope.

Very good question...

I don't understand why everyone is getting bored of Skyrim... All of my friends are saying they don't play it anymore because it gets boring. How could you get bored of any TES game?? there's so much to do!

My theory is this:
Skyrim has by far been the most popular TES game. It was advertised way more than any previous TES game. Tons of people who have never played an Elder Scrolls game, and some who have never even played an RPG, are playing it. All these people get the game, go straight for the main quest, and finish it in a week or two. Then they say: "Well that svcks, I finished the game, now what? I'm bored of this, time to play something else." They've never played an Elder Scrolls game before, so they don't understand that it isn't a linear game... (Maybe it's not as bad as just doing the main quest, but the point is they don't understand how open the game is.) So now all the hardcoe TES fans are the only ones left playing it, which seems like a small number of people since so many more people bought Skyrim than previous TES games.

At least this is what it seems like to me, based on all my friends' reactions to the game.

Why, is it somewhat like Skyrim?

Not at all, really. It has quite different approach in pretty much every aspect. But there's a thread for that in community discussion: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1333487-kingdoms-of-amalur-reckoning-thread-the-second/

OR, people just have a different opinion then you and are legitimately bored with the game.

I have been playing Skyrim since it came out, maybe a few 2 week or 1 week breaks from it.

That's because I have School and a job that I need to worry about more.

Now if I didn't, I would be playing skyrim 24/7.

I am sure I will proceed to play this game for another 3-5 months, hopefully before the DLC comes out, so I can soak up all the adventurous fun.

Until then, I will keep on completing small quests from the Town folk and run around in random places.

I said that's what it seems like in my area, I know this because I've talked to a lot of people I know about it, and this is what it seems like to me. It's just my opinion. Yes, obviously there are people who legitimately don't like the game.

Yes in fact. Overall I have over 200 hours sunk into the game, and I'm still going strong. My thief is level 58, so I think I'm going to start both a warrior shield and board character, and also a mage character, then see which play style I enjoy more.

This game has to hold me over til march 6th, and I think it's entirely capable of doing so.

Oh, I liked the game. But, as addictive as it was, there were diminishing returns in terms of how much I enjoyed the game every time I would log a play session of it. It wasn't long until I saw nearly everything in the game.

Skyrim's problem is that it is a one-trick pony - a static open world can keep you entertained for only so long.

I played the game waaaaay too darn much when I first got it and, eh, had a bit of a burnout. So I haven't so much as touched it for three weeks or so. I'll probably (finally) complete the main quest tomorrow and possibly run the Imperial storyline on another playthrough (I've only done the Stormcloaks one thus far), but it's unlikely that I'll continue playing it once I wrap those two things up.

Eh, why bother anymore? The quests are rarely all that interesting/satisfying, nothing I do has any impact on anything, draugr/bandit-filled dungeon after draugr/bandit-filled dungeon for few variable rewards or deviation in formula gets really boring, factions are barely existent, and it continues ad nauseum not too mention it's just not worth struggling with the performance issues (framerate is so inherently unstable on the PS3 version, particularly...before the possibly unplayable stuttering and slowdown that can occur after a while) for a game that's run its course and simply doesn't interest me much, anymore. It's a shame, but after seeing the entire series through (played Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim), I just don't care for the product Bethesda's selling and Skyrim feels particularly shallow and repetitive in areas it shouldn't be... not to mention fraudulent and pathetic in the technical department.

To answer the OP, it's now my 'podcast game' that I just mute and listen to a podcast while randomly adventuring. It's what relaxes me at the end of the day (untill DLC or something else happens to take its place). I've done everything there is to do, though. It would be shelved if I didn't still have some use for it.

To answer the bit about why people bother going to the forums if they're displeased or lost interest in the game? Human nature. Dissasitfaction of any kind is an itch, and posting it on the internet is great way to scratch it and get it out of your head. At least that's how it is for me.

Why do you think so many threads in this forum have been mostly negative? It's because it feels good to say 'F**K you game and here's why!' Just like it feels nice to say 'hey, this part of the game I liked.' Believe me, I've said both ends of the spectrum here.

Edit: Also, this stuff is going to be very useful for Bethesda in the future. Our b!tching (and the things we liked) will affect this game and other games in the future.

Take your time man, if you rush through the game, it will get boring fast.

Criticism in the form of feedback is generally given for further improvement of a product. Some cathartic cleansing may be a driving force, but then so too is hope for Bethesda's response to consumer feedback in the form of improvement... hence why it makes no sense for a forum to be purely positive responses. People should say what they feel and coming from the position of a long-time fan of many changed/changing series, companies, and franchises, TES included, fans don't just let their cherished idols rot without so much as a whimper to contest the fate.

I've stopped playing it, I'll pick back up on it in a week or so when the CS is released.
Honestly, the highlights of this game for me were the Markarth quests and the civil war, accompanied with a few Daedra quests.

I got pretty much bored 1/3 through the main quest and I am really itching to throw stuff in to really spice up this game!
It's bland and boring, like fries without salt, and I'm ready to add that salt, with a little bit of pepper.

don't you know? there is an anti bethesda crowd thats upset that bethesda owns FO and they are always critical of bethesda games and they say their games aren't really rpgs and stuff like that, so they're just coming here and trashing skyrim...making up threads like "the writing is bad" or "its just a hack n slash and there's no depth" .....thats all it is....they're jealous bethesda makes blockbuster games...it sold like 10 millions copies so far...thats saying a lot more than a few clowns continually bashing any bethesda game that gets made.
