Hadvar: "We'll make sure your remains are sent back to Morrowind."

Me: "Uh, as a last request, could you send me somewhere, I don't know, a little less explodey? The whole place kinda went kerfuffle when Red Mountain erupted."

Lol yeah.

My Altmer went: "But my whole reason for coming north was to get as far away from those Thalmor as possible!"

I can't remember what he told my Orc. I just got curious.

"I'm sorry. We'll make sure your remains are returned to the now sacked and smoking ruin of Orsinium"

My character was born in High rock but thanks for the assumption [censored]. My point behind is topic is that bethesda should allow us to choose where we were born, it doesn't have to be locked race to locked province, or it could be "Unknown" for anyone who was RP'ing the "I lost my memory" route. Anybody else support this idea?
Who gets to choose where they are born?

Spoiler

* Incidentally... my only Skyrim PC was an Argonian

Quite a surprise too... when he takes off his leather cap:

I am usually in favor of whatever origin best suits the developer's main story arc. As such, I have no issue with restricted (or even assigned) backgrounds; family relations, race, gender or even pre-existing personality traits.
*It's whatever the role is... If it's an interesting role to play, then I'm usually fine with it.

I actually love this idea. The more background that we could add to our character and then let the game world recognize that would be awesome.

but every argonian has to at least visit black marsh once in his/her life to get their name and lick the hist sap, so you are from black marsh, not to mention he is sending the remains to the race's ancestral home, never did he say that black marsh was your home, he was sending yout o your race's home

p.s. argonians are the true kings of tamriel!! praise the hist, prase sithis, hail the proper overlords!

Oh I'm all for that... but that last detail is easier said than done. Arcanum did it to an extent, but it was accomplished by manipulating the PC's stats; the rest being largely implied.

My character was born in High rock but

But what? But that means you'd want to be buried there? Why? Why not buried with your ancestors, and more importantly, with the Hist?

Thats assuming there's any other option - who's to say other races will ALLOW Argonians to be buried in their graveyards?

in this day and age, i see no reason why some "backstory" elements and bonuses/restrictions/ whatever shouldn't be a part of actual functioning gameplay.

What does the day and age have to do with it? It doesn't take state-of-the-art tech to smoosh together a bunch of numbers from a database. Games (pen and paper) that do that have always existed, and its not like the math found in the tables and tables of data in such games is difficult to implement in a computer.
Its either a desirable (and affordable within the creative / writing budget) game feature (in which case you can implement it at any tech level from paper to holodeck) or its not.

This joke lacks a punchline or is it simply to shock Khajiit?
