Rohugh, do you have an actual Ban-hammer? Like just a sledge hammer hanging on your wall with Ban-Hammer scribbled in sharpie on the side?

What other forums, if any, do you attend? Is it weird not being able to edit posts, and other modly activities while on another forum?

I used to frequent both the Absolute Write forums, and Bungie.net forums.

Absolute Write was nice, but I just sort of drifted away. Around Halo:Reachs release, I left B.net, because it was in terrible condition.

Got a big one here

I know Hungry Donner has kids. Do you other mods have kids, and if so, how many, and how old are they?

Sorry if it is a bit personal. Just curious.

So what was the most hectic time on this forum? Surely around one of the game releases.

Game releases are one of our busiest periods, the other big one being game unveilings. However the most hectic periods involve the release of unpopular information, generally for games in developement.

I believe they get free stuff. Like $150 per year. I recall one of them saying that they had that awesome NCR press shirt, I'm still jealous.

It's hard to put a price tag on the swag, and that's something that varies considerably. However we're approaching several games a year now so your estimate probably isn't far off.

Are there rules in the moderator forums? Do any rules apply to you guys? Or do you guys have a "Unofficial Political / Religious Discussion Thread", a "What song are you listening to?", a "The Unofficial VS Thread" a "The Unofficial Game Thread" and other threads of the like?

In the public forums the rules apply to us as well, but you are correct that restrictions like that aren't followed in the mod forum. We do have a thread for political discussion but it isn't used often, and our joke thread sometimes contains jokes or links to humorous material that we wouldn't be allowed to post publicly. However we don't have much in the way of restricted topics, we're not running forum games or what not back there.

If you could meet one historical figure who would it be?
If you could only eat one cheese for the rest of your life what kind would it be?
Burgers or dogs?

1. That is a very difficult question, maybe Jagadis Chandra Bose. If I was able to meet one author that would be a much easier question to answer, Robert L. Forward.
2. Scamorza, a good middle ground between mozzarella and parmesan.
3. Burgers

What happens when someone reports something? How are you notified? Does every mod get a PM with the report and a link to the topic? Or only the ones online? Also, could you possibly post a screenshot of what the "Reply" box looks for you guys? Perhaps several screenshots of different parts of the forum, so we know what it looks like to be a mod? As in, what new buttons you have access to, etc.

When you were offered the job, did you immediately accept, or did you have to think about it?

I'm a moderator on another TES based forum on IPB system (but older version) and if it looks the same, then you can: modify or delete any post, select multiple posts for further actions, move posts or whole threads, you can also see everyone's IP address and warn level.

I don't.

When you were offered the job, did you immediately accept, or did you have to think about it?

I had to think about it for a while, but I'm glad I accepted.

Fantasy or futuristic fiction setting?

Futuristic, but I like both.

One of the QuakeCon mods must have gotten the frequency wrong. I'll let them know.

The yellow diamond on the grey bar alerts us when a report comes in. It allows us to link directly to the reported post, and we can add appropriate comments if we need to.

Oh, I see. You get a separate section for reports next to PMs. . . Cool!

Sadly no, which surprises me because the rates aren't unreasonable.

What other forums, if any, do you attend? Is it weird not being able to edit posts, and other modly activities while on another forum?

The official Ars Magica forums, an art forum, and the Escapist. It can be a little odd not being able to edit posts, or to see content I normally remove in a forum context.

Somewhere I have a screenshot of the warning windows, the moderator options, and the mod/admin forum (with sensitive thread titles edited for maximum amusemant). Give me a second and I'll post them here.

It used to be that a report was e-mailed to us, what a mess. Someone also discovered that they could save the report post link and use it after getting banned - and then spammed us several hundred reports. One of the mods (Tegger maybe?) had them automatically sent back to them :hehe:

When you were offered the job, did you immediately accept, or did you have to think about it?

I accepted it quite readily.

Fantasy or futuristic fiction setting?

That depends, but I lean towards science fiction.

A peak into the Mod/Admin forum, made about two years ago. http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/hungry_donner/Elder%20Scrolls/Tesadmin_09a.png, http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/hungry_donner/Elder%20Scrolls/Tesadmin_09b.png, http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/hungry_donner/Elder%20Scrolls/Tesadmin_09c.png

The same from http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/hungry_donner/Elder%20Scrolls/ModForum.jpg, albeit with more obvious title substitutes. I also have an example of http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/hungry_donner/Elder%20Scrolls/ModPowers.jpg from the same period - not all that dissimilar from Rohugh's pictures from today.

Some old Elder Scrolls swag: http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/hungry_donner/Elder%20Scrolls/TES002.jpg, http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/hungry_donner/Elder%20Scrolls/TES003.jpg, http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/hungry_donner/Elder%20Scrolls/TES001.jpg.

Ok, now that's just plain scary... they look so alike!!

Anywho, I.., err.. no.., never mind. What I want to say is, have any of you, or has any of you.. err.. aahh..., nope, that won't do.

Look at it this way; as moderators of this fine board.., no, as people..., yeah, that'll work, as people, loving individuals of this fine planet.. uhmm, too sappy, scratch that.

Right, it's like this...

..could I have a hug please?

I am sort of scared of that one topic in the mod forum..."Random Ban of the Week".

Though......still would be a great area to explore.

That was much funnier two years ago.

I am sort of scared of that one topic in the mod forum..."Random Ban of the Week".

That thread title is actually a bit misleading, we don't choose a member at random every week and ban them. Rather every mod has a list and we randomly choose which mod gets to strike a name from their list.
