Um... ok - I just plugged in the word "unplayable" into the Bioware ME Xbox forums - and there's ONE thread with ONE reply.

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/107/index/4693176

Try plugging that word into this forum's search engine. :)

:)

ps - note the title of that thread is ALMOST unplayable ;)

Most of the threads from when ME2 was first released are probably gone and archived by now, but that's totally beside the point. The number of times the word "unplayable" comes up in a forum search has nothing to do with anything I've posted here. It's cool. :foodndrink: We're just not having the same discussion. I'm dropping it. :D

Well, as for archiving - I did the same search with the word "import" and it went back 10 months ago. And, since the game was released Jan 2010 - I'd say, that adds up just about right :)

But - I'll drop it too ;)

Great game - can't really comment on whether it deserves any awards, or not.

Consider this: If NV isn't RPG of the year, then what is?

Broken game of the year.

Honestly if FalloutNV wasn't so glitchy it would easily have the potential to win some serious Game of the Year awards.
Unfortunately as the game currently is everyone i know that played and/or still plays FalloutNV had hit some serious glitches at least once or twice.

I'd rather have a buggy good game than a tech perfect CRAPPY game. The worst is having a buggy crappy game, and there are plenty of those around, especially on consoles.

I second this. Remember, fellow gamers, we are playing the top-of-the-pop when it comes to free-roaming sandbox-games, immensely complex games, expensive to develope, and risky for those who make the investment. I expected NV to be buggy when I purchased it, and I'm beginning to suffer it's flaws like most people here. But I'm patient, cause I know the patches are comming, and I know that I'm supporting a genre (RPG) that is not bound to succes in an industry where shooters, sporting- and linear platformgames are the most common.
I want the developers to take some chances, and I'm willing to pay for it in several ways.

Well, I have to admit that I think FO:NV more than deserves to be nominated for RPG of the year.
I'm sure that many of you who've read my posts in the PS3 Hardware/Software Issues forum are backing up :bolt: in case I get struck by lightning, but I mean it.

My only problem with this game is (and has always been) the random freezing and crashing. Bugs and glitches, I can handle. Heaven knows I toughed out enough of those in Oblivion (anyone remember "Mystery at Harlun's Watch"?) and I was expecting some in New Vegas.

I guess what I'm trying to say, and not really knowing how to say it, is that in terms of the look and feel, story and voice acting (overall), I think that FO:NV absolutely deserves the nomination.
As to whether it should win or not? Meh.

I think the problems with NV are what kept it from being nominated for GOTY, and rightfully so in my opinion. I don't know about the "Best PC Game" slot, but I would have laughed myself sick if it had even possibly been hinted at for "Best PS3 Game". I'm a PS3 gamer (obviously) and so I can't comment for the PC crowd, but I think what nominations FO:NV got are sound.

Fallout: New Vegas has been nominated for THREE 2010 Video Game Awards--what the hell? I'm sure they bribed Spike to get that nominated so people won't think the game is a joke.

Perhaps you were bribed to plant baseless insinuations? If we're in the mood that sort of distasteful accusations. Which I'm against; as more of a stick-to-the-facts kind o' guy, myself.

Or maybe you were just bored, hmmm?

"Carp carp Mass Effect 2 isn't an RPG carp carp" - who cares? isn't the important thing how good a game it is? Genre distinctions are so last century.

That said, what other rpgs were released this year? Has it been a vintage? I dunno, NV aside I've mostly been playing catch-up on last year's games...

edit: this is in no way directed at softnerd's post which just happens to be above this one, it's more a general lament at the thread as a whole.

another edit: busy thread, this.

But that's the problem, once you get past it not being an RPG all your left with is a mediocre shooter. Bland, rock-paper-scissors combat with cover placed by an amateur. It catered to the people that played five minutes of one, or people that didn't even play one at all.

On topic: The only game that can really compete with NV for any type of gaming award is Red Dead. In the category of RPG though? NV stands alone. PC? I would give to one of the many Strategy games, because that whats lacking from consoles, good strategy games.

Maybe Starcraft 2 could beat it for best PC game, but imo, it's competitors for best RPG are pretty poor. A lot of people like Mass Effect 2, but my tolerance for sci-fi only goes so far. I'd say the nomination was deserving. I'd be disappointed, though not surprised if it didnt win. ME2 is probably going to beat it because it doesnt have the bugs of New Vegas. What a pity because Crash bandicoot is more appealing than Mass Effect.

It has some bugs... all games do. The story isn't that great, but there's SOOOOOOO much more content to make up for it. Beats the snot out of Fallout 3 in my opinion.

I hear the console version is pretty bad but on PC they released patches the day after release, and day after that.

Since the 2nd patch, this is definitely GOTY in my eyes. I rushed to finish the game just so I could start over again, that's how good this game is.

Does it deserve it? Not at all. You can't win awards when your product doesn't work.

It's so close to being a wonderful game but marred by laziness and greed.

You know, I'll try this one more time.

Please read the forum rules.

7. Flaming is not allowed.

Insulting individuals or groups of members and name calling are flames. Any remark that is made to insult another member or group of members will be considered a flame and thus you may receive a warning for it.
Calling people a troll or an apologist for instance can both be considered a flame as can calling someone stupid or ADD. Attacking Xbox players, PS3 players or PC players is not allowed and calling them "console kiddies" or in anyway indicating someone is in some way a lesser person because of their choice is considered a flame here.

Here's a hint. Calling someone [censored] is a flame.

Flaming other posters is "not good". Flaming other posters will earn a warning and a posting ability suspension.

Howdy New Vegasers! Obsidian just recieved word that Fallout: New Vegas has been nominated for THREE 2010 Video Game Awards for the following categories:

Best PC Game
Best RPG
Best Performance by a Human Female (Felicia Day as Veronica)
Head on over to Spike to check out a full list of the nominees and be sure to tune into the the VGAs on Saturday, December 11th!
^^^^^^^
the above is copied from Obsidian's site--what the hell? Has anyone at Spike PLAYED the game? or did they turn it on,build their character, get out of Goodsprings and then, turn it off? There's no way anyone went thru the game any farther than that before coming to that bribed decision..and I'm sure they bribed Spike to get that nominated so people won't think the game is a joke and a waste of money. And did you know that if you click on forums on Obsidians site it links you to the Gen Disc on here? They passed the buck onto Bethesda so they won't get all the complaints..

Well, Op. Let's take a look at these nominations.

Best PC game - Okay, so the PC has gotten patched and the game performs better on the PC than the consoles. It's an outstanding game and supersedes its predecessor in more than one aspect.
Best RPG - No question in my mind. It has some of the best scripting and storyline out of any game available in the market this year.
Best performance by Felicia Day - Let's face it. Felicia Day is cute as hell and everyone loves her. I could have called that.

So, there ya go. Go eat a cookie :D

I think Mass Effect 2 should get overall GOTY, but New Vegas should get RPGOTY, and StarCraftII PCGOTY.

lets pray garbage like COD or HALO don't get GOTY.

Since I'm probably talking to a bunch of thirteen year olds because Bethesda has ONE game with a teen rating (pirates of the carribean) and ALL of the rest are rated mature....

I'll be polite.

On topic:

this is just the bestest game ever in the whole world. It should win every award known to gamers. It's perfect in every way! I mean that red headed chick is the bestest voice actress the gaming industry has ever seen! It has nothing to do with the fact that she's a mediocre at best actress that is barely able to play her real life self in ten minute Internet webisode.

Here's my personal experience so far and Proves this game should win every award at the teen choice awards too!

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1143044-bug-report/

just check the ghost town of a forum over on the glitches and hardware discussion forums.

It means nothing that it now has half the community as the general board.

I hope Justin bieber plays this game, and he talks about it in teen magazine.

That would be so epic!

Seriously, the Mass Effect 2 -Female Shepard or Miranda has her beat by miles. It's a joke to think Day will win over Jennifer Hale, and Day would probably agree with this statement.

New Vegas was good, but definitely not the best RPG this year, Two worlds II beats it easy. That does not mean NV does not deserve an award, it is a great game after all, ignoring bugs that is.

I also disliked the character Veronica, not sure why that was voted for.

Just so you know, Morrowind is also rated Teen. And I don't see what in heavens name that has to do with this thread. Your sarcasm is a bit misplaced, since nobody has made any such claim.

I like both games but ME2 is in a class above FNV im afraid, even with the changes from ME.
I dont really agree with the whole 'ME2 isnt a real RPG' stance either. Oh, FNV is because it has special? And vats? Come on, the truth is, aside from this you can basically play the game as a shooter if you want to.
I guess it comes down to personal preference, but ME2 seemed to svck me in more. The best example of this is when I first visited Afterlife on Omega: I felt the vibe, threatened a guy for eyeballing me etc, it just felt right ...the strip just couldnt grab me in that way.....
I dont really want to bring bugs into it, but how can I not? Bugs with FNV has left a bitter taste for alot of people.
