Backpacks anyone?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:00 am

my point remains...

a human being using a fatman as a weapon, would be completely unable to carry any other item...whether or not he was using a backpack, satchel, rucksack, etc....

backpacks don't answer the question well enough. just having a knapsack on your player model does not justify carrying 4 to 10 guns around (not to mention ammunition)...nobody can do it...even real-world soldiers rarely carry more than a rifle and sidearm. and what kind of backpacks do you know of that can hold ammunition crates of ammo and 6-foot claymores?

adding backpacks doesn't 'fix' the realism to me...it just raises further questions. if you ask me, 'hammerspace' has always worked and will continue to work in future action titles...

Nah, I'm just being silly. How ridiculous would it look to be pulling around a children's wagon filled with junk as a legion of Super Mutants swarmed on you? :hehe:

that's funny lol

Backpacks are not cool. Maybe if they were invisible and simply an upgrade system like in Dragon Age, but i would have to mod it out if it was visible

But im not going to worry because i know for a fact that they wont include it. Its rediculous and stupid.

If backpacks, rucksacks and satchel bags are all just wearable items like clothing, with minor bonuses or none at all, then I'M JUST GLAD THEY'RE IN!

Most definitely, when you think of a guy wandering a post-apocolyptic wasteland you think of someone with at least some form of a backpack. It would be cool if it was a wearable item just like everything else in the game, and maybe even different types of bags to match different outfits, with different types of bonuses like +20 carrying weight or something.

old_andy
small rucksack --> + 50 carrying, no penalty
larger rucksack -> +75 carrying, -1 AGL
the big one I carried -> + lots, -2 AGL, -2 END... and it makes you dumber after carrying it awhile.. -it did me. :)

i like that very smart as long as you can put the rucksacks away if you dont want them on you

I like the backpack idea... i can picture me now, in combat armor with my SCAR hanging of teh side of the back pack... speaking of that, when u have a back pack on the weapon when put away should be strapped to the side of your bag.

Okay, this may work for realistic mode. In realistic mode, You should only have a set of clothes, two guns, and maybe 10 slots for food and water? (maybe a bigger gun, like a assault rifle or sniper, on your back a small weapon, like a pistol, sawed of shotgun or knife, in their holsters/sheaths) but with a back pack on its adds another weapon slot and clothing slot, and lets you carry 20 food and drink. Just a thought

Nah. It wouldn't really work with armors and everything as an actual visible item, and it wouldn't really feel right if it were like the backpacks in Dragon Age: Origins. I'm just hoping the Strong Back perk will be back since that was one of the most useful ones.

Why do you people think backpacks look cool?

Also confused about this.

But I would like the idea of an old Shopping Trolley being salvaged and used.
The only problem is a small book called The Road... :cryvaultboy:

I agree about having backpacks. There is a mod on Fallout3Nexus that is pretty good.
The Blackwolf packs capacity range from 15WG to 70WG. And all are available for purchase from select merchants.

I'm up for the idea of some sort of pack. Sure, at some point you have to draw line of "suspension of disbelief," but to me -

200 pounds-worth of gear magically fitting into my backpack makes a lot more sense than being able to magically stuff 200 pounds worth of gear into my pockets. It's the post-apocalypse - I'm supposed to be wandering around the wasteland scavenging anything of value that I can find. I think it only makes sense that - even if solely as a character design concern - the player character would be rendered with some manner of pack on them; even if it's only there for aesthetic purposes.

This does seem a whole lot better. Although, it would be a better key element for hardcoe mode.

i would like backpacks to be a clothing item. with an effect that increase carrying weight by a small ammount.

i just like how the look.

a rucksack would "look" better though

What? Why? Because you can carry all of your stuff everywhere? Get the game for PC and make your carry weight infinite or something. Being able to carry everything (or maybe 300 lbs. more) would make it ridiculously dumb, sorry.

I don't understand PC gamers. Why mod the game and take all the fun out?

It's like using cheat codes for everything. Wheres the fun in that.

Oh that's only a handful really. I'm sure most of us play the games as it was intended....with many modifications. :P
In any case, if someone has fun playing in God Mode and he's having a blast doing it...well, the game is giving him fun. Which is what he's looking for.

This said, I'm all for backpacks. Ever since I've worn one in FO3 with one of the mods ,it's a must for the looks. It adds to the "Wanderer" visual aspect. Wandering in the wastes, backpack on the shoulders. Filling it with tin cans or whatever misc item I can find. :)

Well I use cheats too for funsies. It just feels different when it's something that takes away from the challenge I guess.

I'm all for mods and all but the ones that make all the game mechanics pointless like infinite strength arnt the same.

this is an awesome idea because i mean backpacks have to still be around somewhere so....
maybe one type could lower the weight of items because it has elastic straps with soft foam :celebration:
