Backpacks anyone?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:26 am

OK guys what I ment was a backpack that isn't like little shool kid backpack i ment like millitary, camlbak,(to keep you hydrated in hardcoe or in other mode heal you like you drank water)or also like the oakly knapsack from the book of Eli, or a hiker type backpack. I also don't want it to be required to have a backpack and i just want it to have maybe a ten pound carry bonus not like one-hundred pounds. I also want them so you can put some items in them and drop them if overencumbered so small items can be easily found. Mmkay

Lol don't worry, we know.

No backpacks, they would look idiotic on the character. I mean I create tough looking characters and to derail this with a cute looking little backpacks would make this difficult. I'm all for realism to a certain extent, but you must keep in mind this is a game and not all aspects of the real world have to be present. All I ask is a real feeling world, not necessarily real in every sense of the word.

If given the option of different types of packs, I would seriously consider something like Hello Kitty just for the chuckle factor. Humor is a major part of Fallout.

Your character wouldn't have to wear it.

And it wouldn't be a "cute" backpack, we're talking about like 200 year old hiking or military backpacks, dirty, worn-out, stuff hanging from it. Imagine something a wasteland scavenger would have, with a rolled-up sleeping pad, tools and other gear/loot attached to it.

What? Why? Because you can carry all of your stuff everywhere? Get the game for PC and make your carry weight infinite or something. Being able to carry everything (or maybe 300 lbs. more) would make it ridiculously dumb, sorry.

1 cheating is dumb
2 why cant we have backpacks
3 the way scavengers use brahmin why cant we use them or put a backpack on the dog lol

Backpacks could be a very nice and valid way to increase carrying capacity :)

It's sad that, as I read through this, I saw about fifteen people screaming out about how 'dumb' backpacks look.

I dare one of you to tell that to those soldiers out in the field... you know... the ones with backpacks loaded up with 150-some odd pounds of crap, occasionally more?

I, for one, am greatly in favor of the idea. Beyond just backpacks, though... I would like to see other assorted varieties of bag. The 'lame' little school bag. A suitcase (on wheels/or not), Duffle bags... the works. It all fits in very well with my desire to see transportable containers.

best idea i'v ever heard. iv always wanted that in basically any survival game. especially the first couple resident evil's. if im roaming a wasteland with everyobject imaginable, im gonna pick up a backpack FIRST!

Yes this is a great idea and so is adding carts and pack brahmin like other people said. I could imagine walking through the wastes then looking through my BINOCULARS (hopefully) or rifle scope and seeing a few bad guys (whoever it may be in F:NV) and ditching my cart surrounding it with mines and waiting then the bad guys will see the cart go try and search it but then KAPLOOIE. Carts and back packs would be good in hardcoe mode when you need to carry food water and the now heavy ammo

I think Fallout: New Vegas needs backpacks to look cool, increase carrying capacity, and to drop a series of items or give a series of items to a companion like weapons and ammo or med supplies. I think this mainly because the book of Eli was awsome and Eli looked cool with that backpack. what do you all think?

And if they added backpacks they could pack a collectors edition into our very own FO backpack. :twirl:

i think backpacks are a good idea, as long as they come in different forms, and different sizes carry different amounts of weight and have different drawbacks (kind of like what old_andy said)

Really, I wasn't kidding about the dumber bit. ...

I'm just thinking back to what when through my mind at the times...

'if I had my own ufo, it could carry my pack in the trunk..'

5 minutes later..

'Hey.. I could just fly their and screw this forced marching [censored]..'

'It would have to have a really cool phasor banks so I can fry the waste of space butter bar el-tee would isn't even humping this stretch with us.., he drove.'

'..and photon torpedoes.. lots of 'em.. yeah..'

it gets loonier after this. :D
