Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Discussion

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:52 pm

I haven't been majorly impressed by what I've played of the PC beta so far. It just doesn't seem to play as well as BC1 and 1943 do on the 360, which is a bit of a shame. Obviously, it being a beta, issues are to be expected, but I'm a bit disappointed with the performance. It's a fairly good looking game, but it doesn't compare to some of the other games that my PC can handle well, and it just doesn't run too well. I can forgive the latency issues though, as that sort of thing is to be expected of a beta. It seems like a good game to me, but I'll definitely be getting the 360 version rather than the PC version. Shame I won't be able to play it for a couple of months as a result.

I only played a little so far, wasn't as much in it. Could be because I mostly play 360 games anymore. Will give it more chance, though. The demo on the 360 is pretty fun, as well. Sadly you're only able to unlock so little. Even more anticipation for the real deal. >.<

It was fun, but I'm dissapointed.
This is nothing like the good old Battlefields. It just feels like large scale Modern Warfare.
I was hoping for something more like Battlefield 2 but with some improved gameplay.

That won't happen until Battlefield 3, unfortunately. All Bad Company is is a dumbed down spin off for the consoles. Pretty sure I read that Battlefield 3 is in the works though.

The demo is fun, but it just feels weird. The guns seem odd, it feels like i'm shooting a paintball gun instead of an actual gun. Things just aren't precise enough. Hopefully it will be better in the in the full game, otherwise I am staying with MW2.

PC mouse sensitivity is all messed up. When you are zoomed in a sniper scope, the sensitivity is higher than when you aren't. It is very difficult to hit people, and the max sensitivity is really low.

What do you guys mean by "dumbed down?" I mean really, I don't get it. I don't see anything wrong with the game whatsoever. As far as guns not sounding realistic, they sound a lot better than MW2's.

It's not dumbed down at all. It just feels kinda clunky and offbalance. I mean I was just playing, and I shot an AA tank's main gun at a guy from like 5 feet away and he surived. I then shot at a helicopter and the heli went down with only 2. I know he AA isn't made to kill men, but that is just rediculous. Still a good game, but not as good as MW2 despite it's flaws.

Okay... I can admit that it does take a while to kill people sometimes. Overall, though, I think the game is fantastic.

It's all sort of sluggish and a bit unresponsive, at least it seems that way to me. It feels like I'm really straining to swing my gun around and point it at someone, let alone aim it with enough precision to kill someone.

Blowing stuff up is pretty fun but the feel of it is just wrong for me. I'm not comparing it with just CoD either, the original BF's and even the original BF:Bad Company felt better to me.

Don't think I'll be buying it...

It feels weird because you're not playing a game that a company made to give themselves a bad name. And where guns are actually realistic and have kick, then you have to take into account Bullet drop on snipers. It's actually realistic! Never thought you'd see something that made sense in a game did you?

If you've never played any of the older Battlefield games then you won't know what I mean. Battlefield 2, 2142, etc. gave you a lot more ability to work as a team, not just in your squad, but with the whole army. Bad Company took a lot of that out.

+1
If they are making a battlefield 3 then I will not play Bad Company 2, but wait for BF3. Battlefield 2 and 2142 seemed a lot more organized in the situations given. Whereas the beta seems like a clustermess of explosions and snipers.

Playing the PC beta, I like the game a lot but it feels really different than the older BF games (I played 1942,Vietnam,BF2 And BF2142)

And I also dislike the amount of bullets I need to kill someone, At least there's hardcoe mod...

Same here. That's my major complaint. But there's going to be a hardcoe mode? Awesome, I'll just play that.

There are a few servers already running hardcoe mod, Feels a lot more like the old BF games, I'm not sure about consoles but I've played on the PC beta with friends on HC servers.

Really? I'm on 360. Is there a way to search for those servers?

Yeah, the number of bullets needed to kill someone is a bit on the ridiculous side. Because the look sensitivity is so low and it takes so many bullets to kill someone, I usually run through one full clip for a single kill, which is on the annoying side. Plus, the lag makes leading your shots a little hit or miss most of the time.

I love playing a medic, though. Another medic and I were able to hold an entire building by ourselves simply because we could continually rez one another and the others in the building. In fact, it almost seems overpowered in comparison to the amount of time you need to wait to rez. Not a fan of the medic having the LMG, but I can change that once the full game is released.

There's always the all-kit weapons (Shotguns, battle rifles, Thompson.)

Personally, I like the beta quite a bit. I play on PC, am used to CoD but still do fine.
While I agree that it takes a LOT of bullets to kill someone, you can't expect to spray as accurately as CoD.
I've also seen people try to quick-scope in Bad Company 2. It just doesn't work that way.

My favourite tactic so far? Planting C4 on a quad and planting that quad into one of the objectives, then blowing the C4. With the explosives upgrade (That is, the explosive count upgrade so you carry double the explosives) you can plant 5 packs of C4 on a target; enough to take it down at once. People don't really expect it.

Major gripe: Mortar strikes. Seriously, limit them somehow. It's just annoying.

It's official.

I FREAKING LOVE THIS GAME.

Me and my friend played the demo and it was so fun! I swear I ended up with roughl 6000-7000 points per game.

Question: Why in the beta do you need millions (literately millions) of exp to get to Private 3? I laugherd my ass off when I saw the amount I needed, but I'm guessing because it is the demo.

Yeah, because you're gonna be able to use these accounts when the full game comes out they don't want you to get too far ahead.
