Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Discussion

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:44 pm

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is an upcoming game being developed by EA DICE as a new title in the Battlefield series. The game is a first-person shooter and will be running on a new improved Frostbite engine. The game is set for release on March 2, 2010.

I have thought of a thread about Bad Company 2 for a few months, but now that more has been released, including the PS3 beta, I thought it was a good time. With everything from the first Bad Company improved a lot, there are a lot of things added, as well. ATVs, anyone? Even scout scopes and fully collapsing buildings were added. As far as I have seen, ADS for almost every weapon is there too.

New vehicles were added such as a UH-60 Black Hawk, a two-man patrol boat, a UAV helicopter controlled by a laptop, and an AA-gun mounted onto a light tank.

Other than the new vehicles and changes to Frostbite, Bad Company 2 will feature a type of weapon customization menu. These can allow you to add a different reflex or ACOG sight, as well as short or long-barrel grenade launchers. It has removed one kit which only gives you four kits to choose from: Assault, Engineer, Recon, Medic. The missing kit is 'Specialist' which was split. C4 now belongs to recon and Sub machine-gun to Engineer.

I believe that's enough information for now. :P The game is now open for discussion.

I'm really looking forward to this. I just got the first Bad Company for Christmas and its a load of fun. It's a welcome change from Modern Warfare 2, much slower pace, and a lot of interesting things to do.

Is there going to be a 360 demo? Hopefully it'll be a multiplayer demo.

I've seen a few trailers on it and it looks [censored] amazing. I thought it was the CryEngine when I first saw it.

Plot? It seems that the first game pretty much ended on a happy note (they got away with the gold).

Are they going to do like every other game, and up the gore/blood so that the game gets rated 18+?

How have they/are they dealing with the grenade spam from BF2 or did they sort that crap out in BC1?

I haven't played any BF game besides BF2...

I'm not sure, but I don't really notice grenade spam in Bad Company.

You guys should really check out the Battlefield Episodes on BC2. Really shows what the game can do.

I want xbox 360 demo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear:

I'm fairly certain the game will be rated 18+, I've heard the "f" word quite a bit from gameplay, and there is finally blood in a battlefield game. I was really getting tired of that dust that poped out before.

Well, we would need your CPU and RAM as well. Actually, I believe that Bad Company 2 is on CanYouRunIt.com now. Go there and it should be able to tell you.

@Dudish: I seriously doubt it would be rated 18+ in the US. That would be rated advlt, which wouldn't even be allowed to be sold in most places. In other countries, I have no idea how they rate.

I've heard that they've dropped some of the humor in the game. Any news on that?

EDIT:
The beta has been generally well received by the community, and the forums are an active spot to provide feedback about the game.

The PC beta has been delayed until Q1 of 2010, with a full demo for all three platforms being released later.

Answer to the demo question.

I've played the beta. It's really good from what I've done so far, I just hope that your rank is kept (takes ages to get those unlocks). The fully collapsable building thing isn't very exciting or handy (nothing like RFG's destruction) since buildings almost always collapse in the same way. Everything else though, WOW!

I thought the first one was very bad.

Not expecting too much of it.

I thought you might be talking about something like that. Yeah, 17+ is M.

@grap3fruitman: There are ways to get the beta, but you have to have ps3. Just google it.

@djaa-jee: I don't like the campaign in the first, but the multiplayer is the only thing I play it for. It's really nice.

Woops, I just meant that it would be above the measly teen its been for the past ever. Which would be M. Srry for any confusion.

Googled it... Seems that the things to get beta keys have all been used up... *sigh*

360 demo?

The 360 demo, along with the PS3 and PC, will be coming out after the PC beta; in early 2010.

I, myself, still wish 360 had a beta. Or that I had a PS3. Either one.

The beta is closed and I'm not quite sure if they are giving out codes anymore. Someone told me they aren't but then again every other closed beta I've heard of meant that it wasn't public...

The beta for the PC was just opened and I really hope I can get a code. They have a code request form on their site. I'm about to pre order the PC version just to see if Gamestop gives codes.

EDIT: Also, I have been having a lot of fun with the demo. Thank God they made it multiplayer. Sadly, once you reach the third rank, they make the experience requirement go up to 4,980,000. Anyone else playing the demo or the PC beta?

It was fun, but I'm dissapointed.
This is nothing like the good old Battlefields. It just feels like large scale Modern Warfare.
I was hoping for something more like Battlefield 2 but with some improved gameplay.
