Battlefield 3: Thread #5

Post » Sun Nov 27, 2011 7:24 pm

So, I played a couple games last night with Internal Shade and I found that using Battlelog's voice chat was annoying. You had to hold Shift to talk, you couldn't change the key and you couldn't set it to autodetect your voice. Shift happens to be the sprint key which makes being a sniper and talking REALLY difficult.

I'm looking methods we PC players can use to chat other than Battlelog. I'm thinking a Ventrillo or Teamspeak server. Maybe even use Steam chat. Let me know what you guys think would be best.

Not sure where you looked, but it's possible to change the push-to-talk key. I have mine bind on left alt. It's also possible to set it so it recognizes when you talk.

Hey all, if you're playing on the 360, I made a platoon called "BGSF 360 Squad".

Look it up and join, let's play some BF3!

Could you tell me how to change it?

I vote for Teamspeak. We already have a BGSF Channel and we can make a subchannel for BF3.

When you have created or joined a party. Look in the com center tab. Instead of the button "create party" there should be a link that says settings. Clicking this will take you to the mic settings page. :)

Hey if anyone is interested in doing some Co-op mission ask. I'll always be up for them. (PC Gamer)

They can get pretty fun specially the harder difficulty ones. It would be nice if you had a microphone.

I might be up for some co-op. Have only done the first two missions with brother, but since he is moving I got no one to play with. Yes I got mic too.

Hey guys and gals. Well I got battlefield when it first came out for the 360 but its seems I was already behind the drag curve from the off. People already had awesome sniper rifles and even now I'm still stuck with the initial one. I am finding it quite challenging and was hoping for maybe some advice?

I play on public servers without a mic, so maybe It's hampering me a bit, but other people seem more than capable. Don't get me wrong, on some servers I finish in the top couple on my team, and usually half way up the scoreboard, but I do feel a bit rubbish at it. Often it feels like I can't move because as soon as I do I get taken out by a sniper and however many times I try I can't get to him.

This is my first ever battlefield game, so I'm not sure what it's normally like, but for instance 2 days ago, the last time I played, my entire squad just stayed in a chopper doing nothing. The pilot saw enemies and would point the chopper towards them, so obviously the gunners were useless, and I could only spawn, therefore, way back at the start or in a chopper of morons. What advice do you have for when I have to fight without any help from squadmates?

So yeah, I'm Finding it tough but really loving it. I can fly the jets easily but have yet to make even a single kill as everything seems to move so quickly! I'm loving the engineer class and desperately trying to improve my recon. I don't really play assault and haven't even touched support yet - can't seem to get any kills at all with the lmg! I see you guys' k/d ratios and am feeling despondant as mine is currently at 0.51 with only 144 points per minute. So yeah, I'm enjoying it but am pretty terrible and would love any tips you could give.

snip

First of I think the starting snipers are the best ones so far that I have unlocked. The SVD is just sweet. On smaller levels such as Seine Crossing, Canols and Grand Bazaar I usually deck out my sniper with RDS, grip and silencer. And then I just go shoot people and spot tanks for the engineers or support guys. The RDS and grip combo is great for being on the move, which I feel you have to be on those smaller levels. The silencer is there because I like to sneak :toughninja:. If you don't have an RDS yet, just go no scope. The only downside with no scope is that it's harder to see your target than with an RDS.

On the bigger maps, just find a nice bush and set up camp. I usually deck out my sniper with a scope that has great zoom and bipod. Just remember to help your team inbetween sniping by spotting tanks, jets and those soldiers you can't hit. Also don't forget to chech your back from time to timw either. A knife to the back isn't all that great :P.

As for dumb squadmates, just ignore them and just do your thing(which is whatever the class you play should do).

The SV98 is really the only sniper you need, and you get it fairly quickly. My advice would be to run around with either an all class weapon, such as the PP-2000 or a shotgun, or to just take the scope off the rifle and use it as a DMR.

Someone named Hagibis4 wants to join the platoon. Can anyone confirm whether he is or isn't from these forums so I know whether to make him a leader or not?

Sorry late reply, yes I am a member of these forums, and I have a 4 in my name because someone already took Hagibis and I couldn't think of another name. Probably should have put HagibisEM.
