Been playing for few hours - the PC keyscontrols are really

You can. Bring up the favorites menu using Q and then hit a # to bind it to that hotkey. Easy peasy. And do try using WASD for menu navigation.
That's reassuring. I wasn't expecting a different UI design vs. the console but some ability to hotkey is important to me.

Some people need to look/experiment a little more before posting in a rush of anger. I don't mean that offensively, btw...I've done it myself at times over the years, lol. :)

I always remap my keys around the arrow keys as WASD is a clunky mess.

calm down? Now I haven't played the game yet, but if they release a game that needs its UI modded, there is something to complain about

I guess I'll play with a gamepad then. Bethesda and its ports... You have to make the interface FOR PC first then port it to the console. Not the other way around :ahhh:

You need to delve into the options menus a bit more. According to a dev post on these forums, you can hotkey specific items just as you could in Morrowind and Oblivion. You can also hotkey different menu screens, removing the need for the compass menu.
can you however hotkey items to a specfic hand so you dont have to do the silly double press system?

That's too bad.

Enjoy your pretty graphics.
I'm not a console war guy, but I have to say there's a certain amount of quality schadenfreude going on here.

EDIT: And yeah, just play it with a gamepad.

I guess its exptected really.

It seems most multi platform developers cant be bothered with PC interfaces these days...

Thank god we still have Blizzard making PC games who make fantastic interfaces.

I haven't see any sign of non console gamers being ruder than console games, so I don't know what you're on about

You're a PC player. Mod it out. That's all I've been hearing the past few months, "If there's any problem with _____ I'll just mod it out/in."

This.

I was finding it ironic everyone was saying it would be terrible on console, and then this happens.

When will be people stop acting so Immature? Who the hell cares what gaming system someone uses?? Each has pros and cons……

Er no, but you just admitted that console player act the same way, so its basically everybody, which I agree with. Then how on earth is it karma that specifically the PC UI svcks ?

It would still be pleasant if Bethesda would take the effort to at least let us comfortably use our keyboard and mouse.

For those talking about hotkeys..that is not what I am talking about.

As a software developer -I know all too well to not overreact and prematurely judge a new interface. I have been playing for hours now... And I can tell you, a lot about this interface is so very, very wrong for a keyboard and mouse.

Nothing is intuitive. Some stuff requires hitting Y to confirm, other stuff requires Enter. It's random. Erratic. You will find yourself tapping a key and getting frustrated it doesn't d anything when in other almost IDENTICAL situations it does. And NO... You can't hotkey interface keys.... Only gameplay keys,

You have to drag your mouse across the screen to click yes, then all he way back again to proceed. Got a big monitor like me? Prepare to have to drag our mouse around for kilometres of screen space.....

You have to randomly switch between keys and mouse and back to other keys without au indication (or logic, or sense).

Navigating the perk trees is AWFUL. Honestly... If there is a diagonally higher perk you want to examine... It will take you about five times to accurately hit two keyboard keys to get there, it requires exact precision or otherwise jumps around randomly. It's very sloppy.

There are heaps of other issues.

And just to repeat..... I am not some [censored]. I am a smart, educated, balanced and considerate Bethesda fan who WORKS in software development. This interfaces a garbled, console-mess. There are basically zero PC optimisations and nothing works intelligently.

That shouldn't be needed, you know. The player shouldn't need to learn to mod or need to tackle with others' mods for the game to function properly on the chosen platform. It's the job of the devs to make and adjust the game, not the players'.

Exactly. Not only is it extremely painful to use a mouse in this interface (Betheada have basically ignored that a mouse even exists apparently), they haven't even implemented a WASD interface properly, despite making that the thng they are trying to force you to use on the menus!

I am going to have to stop playing and wait for Creation Kit. But as you said....l it's just totally unacceptable that Bethesda would so rudely ignore the community that put them on the map in the first place. Without PC gamers, there would be no Elder Scrolls today. We shouldn't have to make interfaces that work for PC.

This has nothing to do with how I intend to act, this has something to do with you sayings it's karma and it not making sense, I realize that because someone hit me I shouldn't randomly hit people, I'm not 5 :P
