I think it's tine we get specific. Of course more spells, dialogue, locations would be welcomed.
But that isn't very helpful. I'm sure Beth would rather have us list very specific reasonable improvements, not generic ones.
like:

#2 Have bonfires extinguish after a while. Remember when you've killed all bandits in the area two month a go, but it stills fames?
SInce they've already implemented smoke, that shouldbe pretty easy to do. (unless i missed something and bonfires already extinguish after a while)

Bring back the uniqueness of voice overs. I should be able to separate an imperial from a Nord from a breton through their voice.

Bring back dunmers grumpy voice.
Bring back Nords viking voice.
Bring back Orc's barbaric voice.
Bring back Redguard's black voice.
Bring back Breton's frail english voice.
Bring back Altmer's snobbish english voice.
Bring back bosmer's irritating mischievous voice.
Bring back imperial's american voice. Lol.

most important thing is missing again :

MORE UNIQUE findeable items. not crafting > all like now.

and by unique i dont mean a sword that looks like 100 others and has a weak fire entchant. i mean it should LOOK unique in form and stats. not the same just recolered like the priest masks. this is cluelessness.

not that beth cares. and if they do the all mighty xbox will command them via the alien code (money)

that said:
- were NOT idiots. go back to letting us think. we want CLUEs in books just like it used to be .
- we NEED to block in order to DEFEND ourselves. as in with ONE sword while im spell casting
- bring back spears and make horse combat worth playing.
- make fast travel a teleport spell just like it used to be. more experiance = greater range
- bring back the character avatar to the INV screen = immersion and repetition
- bring back the horse and wagon so you can stow your loot - makes ir more realistic
- LASTLY - make the game for the PC - with all the best textures and THEN port it to the XBOX.

PS. might be nice to have a party of a few npcs to storm a bandit hideout where there are many bandits. like your own troop.

Create modern, new engine, hire new designers who can think over decisions about changing game mechanics and who not just taking out things and put in other things without thinking about it. And fire that one, who sticks to level scaling so stupidly.

In Morrowind's mage's guild we had three groups of quests: dwemer research (Ald'ruhn), something like guild business (balmora) and Scinks quests. Perhaps the college of Winterhold should try to help Winterhold and end with accusations about destroing the city and some quests like Scink's. And besides, maybe college should be more similar to educational (i.e. not only one lection and perhaps, pojects like Ajira's in Morrowind). Also, maybe guilds must have some skill restrictions for quests(if only skill you know is for example sneak you could join the college and even become arch-mage. Perhaps thieves would allow you to do something but not mages).

Agree on many comments. I am loving this game!

1. HORSES: Followers can't ride horses. The difference in behavior from a mounted horse and unmounted horses is redonkulous! Horses and Dragons fighting it out...Silly.

2. COMPANIONS: So much improved, but the weaknesses are just that. Allow for the PC to make tactical suggestions to companions. (Like in FNV) Stay ranged, stay melee etc.Companions with some small quest lines would be immensely appreciated!

3. Perk Trees: A lot of the non combat perk trees do not make sense, and in a game with lots of combat, need to be looked at. Like Lockpicking and Speech. i think a lot of the Magic perk trees also need to be worked out a bit.

I'd like to point out that this is not representative of the Skyrim community.

Skyrim sold 3.5 million units in it's first 2 days alone. This forum represents a very small proportion of players. I wouldn't even imagine 1%?

How many people here honestly think they're going to make a difference in the next game? Bethesda have done a fantastic job at creating a vanilla game. They've created an even better foundation for the modders to take over and appease all the different stances on the game. I would imagine that from a business perspective they've secured themselves at least another 3 sequels and increased their fan database.

Things won't change for the minority.
Even a minority of people can be representative of majority opinion. Do not confuse silence for assent. Remember that every scientific poll on earth is completed from a sampling of people and the results infer larger opinion. Sociology would be an impossible science if this were not the case. In short, I would wager that although the forum makes up a very small percentage of the playerbase, the opinions they express by-and-large represent the sentiments of the majority.

My list includes: more intelligent horses, more intelligent and less shallow companions and followers, a more vibrant and life-like world (more going on in the wild), legitimate player consequences and choices.

How about having more than one [censored] guy doing three quarters of the male voices in the game?

Voice actors are relatively cheap and I'm pretty sure you guys are making decent money from the game.

Anonymous internet posters with zero experience in game development.

If people want to vent, let them vent. It hurts no one, provides pleasant sport, and gamesas could care less. If you want to cheerlead, consider another thread more suitable to your aspirations.

And by the way, quite a few of the modders from previous gamesas games have clocked in hundreds or even thousands of hours working on the previous two games to change them. I personally know of three whom gamesas approached with employment offers over the years, and have subsequently worked for the company. ;)

1) Moar spells :D
2) Fix the enchanting/blacksmithing, make the system like WoW's, you can onyl equip certain items at a certain level and you cant craft the same leather boots over and over.
3) (optional) better facial expressions and dialouge, get the people from L.A. Noire, put them on the Bethesda team, work on facial expressions.

Less loot in dungeons. To much making gold to easy to come by and items losing thier "value" because you'll come across it so much.
Less level scaling in general, especially out in the world and on main roads, I'd like to see cave bears remain in or just inside thier caves not napping in large groups on a main road, where soldiers hunters and adventurers pass by.
Less "I'm going to try kill you for the hell of it" more reasons why, interactions with the reason why and far less what I can only assume are adventures of each race trying to plunge a neck in my throat without a word. To further that less mysterious being passing notes and leaving keys in convient locations that don't exist in the world, at least Ulysesses made some sense, in his traps and clues left behind and he existed with a backstory and interaction later on. I thought the opening was intended to be vague enough to write my own story, it was a mistake etc... So why is it the thalmor want my head already never having met them yet and who's been praying to sithis for my "poor fool head". One such encounter wouldn't have been that bad, but basically any random man or mer encounter on the road where they attack you is "just because", at least vampires are trying to feed and thieves are doing what they do, they'll even tell you and give you a choice in what to say. Why have 3 choices which result in the same thing because they are the same more or less, yet no other passive choice that doesn't lead to a fight breaking out with non agressive thalmor. If your going to give us choices at least give us a choice not three ways to railroad us to the same ending (could say alot on that in the game in general, next time you want to tell a set tale, make a movie)
Don't legally lie to us by not "technically" saying for certain whats in the game, tell us what is in the game or don't. You are not the sonic team, you won't get away with it eternally, and part of the reason is they do really resort to cheap tricks, the game just doesn't live up to the expectations. Lionhead has lost alot of fans and love over it and the same will happen to you.
Make an engine first, exploring its features to thier fullest extent, then make the game once it's done, then test it. Concentrate on smaller things making them fuller before going on to add other things, yay marriage is in game...shame it's so shallow, on the simalar theme maybe less time spend on making the 100s of marriables but making a few more varied choices instead would have helped alot, may also help you keep track of what races are choices with only 3 in each then the hundred and having some being overlooked entirely.
Push come to shove make guilds dlc, maybe not all will like it but Id sure as hell rather have the 2 main quests being full and satisfy, you sure are not going to go back and make a dlc implementing stuff mid main base game quests are you, or better endings. You'd be admitting the main game wasn't finished, not to mention people past certain points not wanting to start new characters would miss out.
Remove perks, this isn't an mmo, another player doesn't suffer by me having certain skills extra, make it matter more what your skill level is at because being a master in various areas and not being able to do certain things in obsurd. Most of the perks don't really justify thier existance anyway meaning most people end up on the same few that do (including taking some they don't want to but have to, to invest in what they do). All they really do in aid in restricting what you can experience in your game. Maybe implement some in other ways, go to the legendary archer to learn to focus and see things better from a distance, go to the hermit blacksmith to learn how to make an armor out of this strange material etc.
Facial expression for my character, maybe abit of a waste due to the time spent looking at it, but getting beating up you have the same vacant look as making potions. The mouth doesn't even move to match the sound of your grunting.

Generally if need be fewer things so the things that are in it have more to them, be it better marriages/courting, choices in quests, dialogue and reactions to choices (including the removal of those when it's no longer approirate to address you with it) and fuller quest lines with a better journey of growth, especially rising up the ranks.

Argonians & Khajiit need a little more love.
Both in the amount of them present in Skyrim, and being able to marry them.

  • Stick attributes back in.
  • Stick skills such as athletics, acrobatics, hand-to-hand, and climbing back in.
  • Keep perks, but tone down their effects a bit, putting the emphasis back on regular skill progession.
  • Slower progression in general.
  • No level-scaling. This has been toned down a lot in Skyrim, but shop inventories and loot still seem to be scaled to the player's level... which is stupid.
  • Increase the size of the gameworld by at least 2X.
  • Larger cities.
  • Keep hand-holding features like markers and fast-travel optional, but make them switched off by default, and design quests under the assumption that the player won't be using either.
  • Much longer faction questlines, so you actually get a proper sense of progression through the ranks.
  • More dialogue options and consequences.
  • Much fewer essential NPCs (or ideally none at all). And for any Bethesda feel absolutely must be essential, make the wounded sequence much more believable. Instead of the NPC kneeling for a minute before resuming their attack on you, just leave them lying on the floor appearing dead. When the player leaves the area or something, have them sent either to their house or to a house of healing to recover for 24 hrs to a week, during which time they're unavailable as a quest giver. Upon their return, they should take a negative tone towards the player and perhaps even refuse to talk to them at first (assuming they saw the player attack them) or simply acknowledge that they've been recovering from an injury recently (if the player hit them with a stealth attack).
  • Take out children. They do more harm than good. Or at the very least, give them more than one face!
  • More unique items (unique in terms of appearance, not just renamed or enchanted)
  • Separate armour / clothing pieces.
  • More detailed weapon / armour stats. For instance, for armour there should be - durabilitiy, weight (runspeed) movement (agility in combat), resistance to slashes, resistance piercing blows, resistance to crushing blows , etc. This will give the player more to think about when deciding which gear is right for their character.
  • Degradation back in.
  • No health regen.
  • Cut out the cinematic crap like finishers, or at the very least make it optional.
  • No forced 3rd person at any point. People should be able to play in their preferred POV uninterrupted.
  • Longer, less linear dungeons, which give the player the feeling of being lost.
  • Darker dungeons.
  • Better UI that actually looks like it belongs in a fantasy game.
  • Bring beast legs back.

Respectfully disagree on those (fine tune the new for me in these areas, don't bring back to much of the old)....

I am 100% sure that the developers have no say in how things will get build. I am a developer and i know how things go within a company, i sometimes have to code things wich doesnt make sense, and even if we developers point out the flaws 9/10 time we still have to code it. That said i am wondering how bethesda's internal work procces runs, as i am pretty sure it isn't run on a lean or agile base.

TES is a perfect candidate for the scrum workmethod, with us the userbase as client. We will stamp out a near perfect product idea in relative shor time, let the proffesionals then form, balance and work it out.

Stop the leveling with the perks and keep the perks with the leveling. I've assumed from what i've seen on the forum that perks stop at level 50 even though you can level past that.

Bring back Attributes and combine them with perks. Don't make magic svck. Bring back SC. Ditch level scaling all together. Hire good quest writers. All the guild quests svck.

- More character options (agile characters, hand-to-hand combat, dodging mechanics, more spell effects, spellmaking, more weapon types, all the usual suspects)
- More factions
- More involvement in factions
- Longer faction questlines
- More unique artdesign (compare morrowind horker to skyrim horker)
- More choices and dialog options
- No essential NPCs
- No leveled loot
- Most loot handplaced
- More equipment slots (MW: 13+, SK: 6)

Overall, it seems to come down to "more". It's crazy that they can't even get to the same numbers as Morrowind, although their team is three times as big and technology has advanced by a huge amount.

Minor: Either more action-based and engaging combat, or more dicerolls and attributes. Make up your mind!

I disagree with you on this one. For combat to improve significantly it absolutely must incorporate locational damage in some shape or form. Yet, for comba to remain a relevant RPG experience, i.e., character evolution, it must retain some sort of attribute sturcture.

In short, a mix of both is the way to go.

Make the choice of player race count. I find it hard to believe the Stormcloaks would trust so much to the imperial, or dark elf, or khajit, for whom they don't feel the warmest feelings. And while we are at it, how come when I join Legion, I can go to Stormcloak cities unbothered, and when I attend they war meetings, they're giving me details of their actions with not a slightest obstacle? This kind of inconsistencies should be eliminated.
